Mobile app marketing · Marketing

Get the app downloaded by someone who will actually open it again next week.

An app download is often celebrated as a success on its own, but a large share of apps are opened once and never again. Marketing an app well means being honest about this and working on both installs and return usage, not installs alone.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

In one paragraph

Mobile app marketing brings in installs of your Android or iOS app from people likely to keep using it. It then works on getting installed users to open the app again, rather than deleting it after one use. GullySales runs both sides, the campaigns that drive installs and the messages that bring users back, since a download that is never reopened has little value.

We run campaigns aimed at people likely to genuinely use the app, not just click an install button. We also set up messages, such as a notification or a WhatsApp nudge, that bring a new user back for a second and third visit.

This is distinct from app store optimisation, which improves how the app appears within the app store's own search. Mobile app marketing covers the paid and organic campaigns that drive people to the store in the first place, plus what happens after they install.

The problem

Does this sound like your business?

What owners tell us on the first call, in their words.

  • “Install numbers look good but usage drops off fast”

The app is downloaded steadily, but most users open it once and never return, which the install number alone does not reveal.

  • “Install campaigns target anyone, not likely genuine users”

Broad targeting brings in installs from people with no real interest in the app's purpose, inflating the download count without adding real users.

  • “There is no message bringing a new user back”

After the first open, nothing prompts the user to return, so the app is quietly forgotten among the others on their phone.

  • “App store listing and marketing tell different stories”

The app store description promises one thing while the marketing campaign promotes another, confusing anyone who compares the two.

What we do

Everything that is included.

Each deliverable, and what it gets you. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Install campaign targeting

Campaigns aimed at people whose interests and behaviour match genuine future users, not install volume alone.

  2. Onboarding message sequence

Notifications or WhatsApp messages after install that guide a new user toward the app's core value quickly.

  3. Re-engagement campaigns

Messages aimed at bringing back users who installed but have gone inactive.

  4. App store and campaign alignment

Marketing messaging checked against the app store listing so the promise made in an ad matches what the app actually delivers.

  5. Usage report

Installs, active users and return rate reported together, not installs alone.

How the result is measured

  • Installs from targeted campaigns
  • Users returning after the first session
  • Re-engagement campaign response rate
  • Cost per genuinely active user, not per install

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Who it is for

This is written for you if these sound familiar.

  • Businesses with a consumer app looking to grow genuine, active users rather than raw download counts
  • Companies that have seen install numbers rise while active usage stays flat or falls
  • Businesses launching a new app needing an initial push to build a base of real users
  • Apps with a subscription or repeat-usage model, where return visits directly affect revenue
  • Companies currently running app install campaigns with no plan for what happens after the install

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • Businesses without an app yet; this service starts once an app exists to market
  • Companies focused purely on install count with no interest in return usage
  • Apps with a fundamental usability problem that marketing cannot fix on its own

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the mobile app marketing work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the app's core value

We agree what a genuinely engaged user actually does in the app, which decides who to target and what to measure.

  2. 2

    Audit current performance

We check current install sources and how many installed users actually return.

  3. 3

    Build install and re-engagement campaigns

Campaigns are built for both bringing in new users and returning lapsed ones.

  4. 4

    Implement onboarding messages

A message sequence is set up to guide new users to the app's value in their first sessions.

  5. 5

    Measure and optimise

We track return usage, not just installs, and adjust targeting and messaging accordingly.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Why measure return usage instead of just installs?
An install that never reopens produces no value. Measuring return usage shows whether the campaign is bringing in people who genuinely want the app, not just clicking an install prompt.
Do you also handle app store optimisation?
That is a separate, related service focused on how the app appears in store search results. We coordinate with it so the messaging matches, but this service focuses on the marketing campaigns themselves.
Which platforms do you advertise on?
Typically Google and Meta's app install campaign formats, and other channels where your specific target users are likely to be reached.
How is this priced?
There is no published price. The fee we put in writing after the free audit covers building the install and re-engagement campaigns, on top of the ad spend on Google and Meta.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
