5 dental marketing strategies for 2024

Written for 2024, and none of it has dated: the five things that actually brought clinics patients that year were being found on the map, having the reviews, having a site that lets someone book, showing the real clinic on video, and advertising specific treatments. In that order — because the later ones waste money if the earlier ones are missing.

  1. 1. Local search, before anything else
  2. 2. Reviews, asked for and answered
  3. 3. A website someone can book from on a phone
  4. 4. Video that shows the actual clinic
  5. 5. Ads for the treatments you want to do

1. Local search, before anything else

A dental clinic serves a catchment of a few kilometres, and its patients find it by searching from inside that catchment. So the search work that matters is local: a complete Google Business Profile, the right category, the clinic’s area named on the site, and pages for the treatments people actually search — “root canal”, “braces”, “teeth whitening” — rather than a single “services” page.

Keyword research for a clinic takes an afternoon, not a month. The terms are the treatments plus the area. What takes time is building the pages and the profile properly, and most clinics never do.

2. Reviews, asked for and answered

Once a patient sees three clinics on the map, the review count decides the call. Ask every patient at the moment they are relieved, with a link that takes thirty seconds, and reply to every review — the reply to a bad one is read by every future patient and is your chance to look reasonable.

Google is the platform that matters for an Indian clinic. Practo and Justdial help; Yelp does not.

3. A website someone can book from on a phone

Most patients arrive on a phone, on 4G, at night. The site needs to load fast, say what you treat and where you are, show the real clinic, and put the call button and a WhatsApp link where the thumb is. A form with nine fields is not a booking path.

Email newsletters, which most 2024 advice recommended, do very little for a dental clinic. A WhatsApp reminder for the six-month check-up does a great deal more, and costs almost nothing.

4. Video that shows the actual clinic

Short video worked in 2024 and still does, for one reason: it shows a nervous patient the real place and the real people before they walk in. A thirty-second walk from the door to the chair, the dentist explaining what a first visit involves, a patient saying it did not hurt — shot on a phone, cut properly. Not an animated logo, and not a stock clip of a smiling model.

5. Ads for the treatments you want to do

Paid search fills a specific kind of appointment fast: implants, aligners, cosmetic work, emergency slots. Run it for one treatment at a time, in your area, with a page about that treatment and call tracking so you know what each booked patient cost. Switch it off when it stops earning.

Do not run ads for “dentist”. That is what the map is for, and the map is free.
