Business consultants · Professional services

Stop depending on the next referral to know what next quarter looks like.

Most consultants in India build their practice on relationships. A chartered accountant refers a client, or a banker mentions you to a borrower. That works until one referrer retires, and then the practice has no other way to find the next engagement.

A 45-minute audit call, a written and scored report within a few working days, then a monthly report against your baseline.

In one paragraph

Business consultant marketing makes you known for one problem you solve, so an owner thinks of you when that problem appears. Consulting sales turns the first meeting into a scoped, signed engagement, and that engagement into the next. GullySales writes down what you fix and for whom, turns confidential work into readable cases, and gets the pipeline off your phone.

Owners do not hire a consultant from a list of services. They hire the one who has plainly seen their problem before, such as a family business that has outgrown its founder. The engagements that slip away are usually proposals left with a promoter for weeks, with nobody calling back on a plan.

How buyers decide

How business consultants are chosen.

For a small or medium business, the trigger is a pain the owner can no longer ignore. It might be tightening cash flow, a second-generation handover or a bank loan to prepare for. The owner first asks their CA, their banker or another owner in the association. Then they look you up on LinkedIn and Google, and it closes when they believe you have fixed this in a business like theirs.

In mid-sized companies the managing director or promoter family decides, often with the CFO in the room. They want a proposal with scope, phases and fee, compare two or three firms, and sometimes call a past client. ISO, ZED and export registration consultants are different: the quality head searches for them directly, on Google and on IndiaMART.

The sale rarely ends at the first project. A diagnostic leads to an implementation phase, which can lead to a retainer, and an owner who trusted the first engagement often refers peers in their association. The consultant who stays in touch after the project closes gets that second and third piece of work.

The problem

What usually goes wrong for business consultants.

What owners tell us on the first call, in their words.

  • All our work comes from three CAs and one banker

When one of them retires or changes firms, a large share of our enquiries goes with them, and we have no other channel.

  • Our website says we do everything for everyone

Strategy, HR, finance, operations, marketing and digital are all listed, so an owner with a specific problem cannot tell what we are actually good at.

  • Proposals sit with the promoter for weeks with no answer

We send a detailed proposal after a good meeting, the owner says he will discuss it with family, and nobody follows up in a planned way.

  • We have strong results but cannot talk about client names

Confidentiality means our best work is invisible, so a new owner has only our word for what we have done.

  • Every engagement ends and we start from zero

A diagnostic finishes, the report is handed over, and there is no proposal for implementation or a retainer to keep the relationship going.

  • The partner is the only one who can sell

Every new engagement depends on the founding consultant's time and network, so growth stops when they are busy delivering.

What we do

What we do for business consultants.

Everything included for business consultants, and the result each part is there to produce.

  1. A written positioning for the practice

One clear statement of the problem you solve, the kind of business you solve it for and how you work, tested against the engagements you have actually done well.

Result: An owner can tell in one read whether you are the right consultant for them.

  2. Anonymised case studies

Written accounts of real engagements with the industry, the problem, the approach and what changed, with names removed or used only with written permission.

Result: A new client can read your thinking without you breaking confidentiality.

  3. Service pages by problem, not by function

Pages such as succession planning for family businesses or cost reduction for small manufacturers, written in an owner's words and built for search.

Result: An owner searching for their exact problem finds your page.

  4. Proposal template and follow-up plan

A reusable proposal structure with scope, phases, deliverables and fee terms, plus a follow-up schedule for the weeks a promoter takes to decide.

Result: Proposals go out faster and do not go quiet without a planned call.

  5. Referral partner programme

A named list of CAs, bankers, lawyers and association heads who send work, with a routine for sharing useful updates and thanking them properly.

Result: Your referral sources widen and stay active instead of fading.

  6. LinkedIn and article plan for the partner

A posting and article plan built from the questions owners ask in real meetings, written with the partner and published under their name.

Result: Owners who have never met you start to recognise how you think.

  7. Engagement pipeline with referrer tags

Every lead, meeting, proposal and signed engagement recorded in a CRM, tagged with the CA, banker or association that sent it.

Result: You can see next quarter's work before it arrives, and which referrer it depends on.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiries by source, including each referral partner
  • First meetings held
  • Proposals sent and signed
  • Days from proposal to signed engagement
  • Follow-on and retainer work from past clients
  • Share of new work not from the top three referrers

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, then reported every month against it.

Worth a page and a campaign of their own

Business diagnostics and health checks · Growth strategy and annual planning · Family business governance and succession · Operations and cost reduction projects · Organisation structure and role clarity · ISO and quality system certification · Business plans and investor readiness · Project reports for bank loans · Retainer advisory for owners · Standard operating procedures and process documentation

Priority campaigns

Campaigns for what business consultants most want to sell.

Each one planned around when your buyers decide, and measured against the baseline.

  • Year-end planning campaign for owners

Articles, a short webinar and outreach in January and February on annual planning for the coming financial year, with a diagnostic offer.

Result: Owners thinking about next year meet you while they are planning it.

  • Family business succession series

A series of articles and a closed-door session with an industry association on succession and governance, followed by one-to-one meetings.

Result: Families facing a handover start the conversation with you.

  • Certification readiness campaign

Search pages and outreach for ISO or ZED readiness aimed at manufacturers whose buyers or tenders are starting to ask for it.

Result: A quality head with a deadline finds a consultant who explains the steps.

  • Bank loan and project report campaign

A referral arrangement and content aimed at owners preparing a project report for expansion, working with CAs and bank relationship managers.

Result: Owners preparing a loan application come to you through people they already trust.

  • Past client follow-on campaign

A planned check-in with every client six months after an engagement ends, with a short review of what has held and what has slipped.

Result: Implementation work and retainers come from clients who already trust you.

Beyond search

Where we reach buyers of business consultants, beyond Google.

Search matters, but it is rarely the only way this industry's buyers find a supplier.

  • Chartered accountants and tax practitioners

We prepare a referral note and a short explainer of the problems you solve that a CA can pass to a client whose numbers show the problem.

  • Bank and NBFC relationship managers

We prepare an introduction for relationship managers whose borrowers need project reports, restructuring or business plans.

  • Industry associations and chambers

We prepare talk proposals and member workshops for bodies such as local chambers, KASSIA, FKCCI, CII or sector associations, depending on where your clients meet.

  • Entrepreneur forums and family business networks

We identify forums for founders and family business owners and prepare a session or panel pitch on your specialism.

  • Former clients and colleagues on LinkedIn

We set up a steady, personal outreach routine to former clients and colleagues who now sit in decision roles elsewhere.

No open-ended retainer. Each step has a point in time and something you receive.

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later month has an honest comparison.

  4. 04 · Month 1

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. 05 · Every month

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words.

  6. 06 · Month 3 to 6

  3. 3

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every monthly report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No lock-in, no guarantees we cannot keep

Three to six months at a time. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

Engagement options

Ways to work with us.

Pick the size of commitment that fits. Every option starts with the free audit.

  1. Option 1

    The audit on its own

A 45-minute call and a written, scored report. It says honestly whether you need outside help, and many fixes are ones your own team can make.

  2. Option 2

    One fix, scoped

Start with the fix the audit ranks first, such as reply time or follow-up. The fee is in writing before anything starts.

  3. Option 3

    A three-to-six-month programme

We run the work month by month, report against the baseline every month, and you renew on the numbers. No twelve-month lock.

  4. Option 4

Guidance for your own team or agency

We plan, brief and check the work of your in-house team or current agency, instead of replacing them.

FAQ

Questions business consultants ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How can we market our work if every client is confidential?
Describe the problem and the approach without the name. For example, an account of how an auto component supplier fixed its costing is useful proof with no name attached. Some clients will also agree to be named once asked properly.
Should a consultant specialise or stay general?
Specialise in how you are presented, even if you take broader work. Owners search for their problem, and a consultant known for one thing gets referred more often than one who does everything.
Is LinkedIn really where owners look for consultants?
For checking you, yes. Most owners still hear about a consultant from someone they trust, then look them up before agreeing to meet. What they find on LinkedIn and Google decides whether that meeting happens.
How do we stop the practice depending on the founder?
By writing down how the founder sells: the positioning, the proposal template, the follow-up plan and the case studies. A second consultant can then run first meetings with material the founder trusts.
Should we list on IndiaMART or JustDial as consultants?
For certification and compliance consulting, where owners search by name of the standard, it can bring real enquiries. For strategy and family business work, referrals, articles and associations bring better-matched clients.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped in the free audit and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
Three to six months at a time. There is no twelve-month lock, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile usually show in weeks, because the enquiries already exist. Ads show in days once follow-up is ready. SEO and content take months. The audit tells you which applies to you.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 45 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the monthly review.
