Win the wedding at the tasting, and the next three from the guests who ate there.

A family planning a wedding reception for eight hundred guests does not choose a caterer from an advertisement. They taste the food, ask who has eaten it before, and worry about whether the counters will run out at the peak.

A 45-minute audit call, a written and scored report within a few working days, then a monthly report against your baseline.

In one paragraph

Catering marketing makes you the caterer a family, a banquet hall or an office trusts with its food. Catering sales turns a WhatsApp enquiry into a tasting, a signed menu and an advance. GullySales builds both, with per-plate menus that state what is included and a tasting routine planned around the muhurtham calendar.

A company choosing a caterer for its cafeteria asks about hygiene, FSSAI licensing and whether the menu will still be good in the third month. Most catering businesses win work on reputation and lose it in the gaps. A WhatsApp enquiry is answered two days late. A tasting is offered but never put on the calendar. The family who loved the food at their daughter's wedding is never asked who else is getting married.

How buyers decide

How caterers are chosen.

For weddings and family functions, the search begins with people. The family asks relatives which caterer served at the last wedding they liked. The banquet hall hands over its approved list, and the wedding planner adds a couple of names. They check Instagram, Google reviews and WedMeGood, then send WhatsApp enquiries with the date, guest count and whether the menu is Jain, vegetarian or non-vegetarian.

The dates are fixed by the calendar. Wedding muhurtham months, from roughly November to February and again in April and May, fill first, and the best caterers are booked months ahead for auspicious dates. Housewarmings, naming ceremonies, upanayanam, festival gatherings and year-end corporate parties fill the rest. Corporate cafeteria and industrial canteen contracts follow a different cycle, usually decided by an admin or facilities manager with a trial period and a formal agreement.

The tasting closes it. Elders in the family taste the food while the person paying checks what the per-plate price includes. A caterer who confirms the menu in writing the next day usually gets the date. That note should state the advance and the deadline for the final guest count.

The problem

What usually goes wrong for caterers.

What owners tell us on the first call, in their words.

  • Families take our quote to the caterer next door

We give a per-plate price over the phone, and it becomes the number another caterer beats without matching the menu.

  • Tastings are offered and never scheduled

A family says they will come for a tasting next week, nobody follows up, and they book someone else.

  • We are fully booked on muhurtham dates and idle in between

Every caterer is booked on the big dates, and we have no plan for the weekday and off-season gaps.

  • Our Instagram shows plates, not events

We post close-ups of dishes, but nothing shows a counter serving five hundred guests smoothly, which is what families worry about.

  • Banquet halls stopped listing us

We used to be on two halls' approved caterer lists, and we were dropped without anyone telling us why.

  • Corporate clients ask for documents we do not have ready

An office admin team asks for FSSAI licence, hygiene process and staff records, and we take a week to put them together.

What we do

What we do for caterers.

Everything included for caterers, and the result each part is there to produce.

  1. Menu cards with clear per-plate inclusions

Printed and WhatsApp-ready menus for each price band, stating the number of items, counters, service staff, crockery and what costs extra.

Result: Families compare your full offer, not just a number.

  2. Enquiry and tasting routine

A same-day reply on WhatsApp, a set of questions on date, guest count, venue and food preferences, and a tasting slot offered with a reminder the day before.

Result: More enquiries turn into tastings, and more tastings into booked dates.

  3. Event photographs and short videos

A shot list for your events showing the counters, the service team, the crowd being served and the dishes, with the host's permission.

Result: A family can see you handling their size of event before they call.

  4. Google Business Profile and WedMeGood listing

Complete, matching listings with menus, cuisines, capacity, photographs and a routine for asking each host for a review after the function.

Result: Families shortlisting caterers find recent reviews from real events.

  5. Corporate document pack

FSSAI licence, GST details, hygiene and kitchen process, staff health checks, sample menus and references, ready as one PDF.

Result: An office or factory admin team can shortlist you the day they ask.

  6. Booking calendar and advance tracker

A record of every enquiry, tasting, booked date, advance received and final guest count deadline, visible to the whole team.

Result: No date is double-promised and no advance goes unfollowed.

  7. Monthly report against the baseline

Enquiries by source, tastings held, dates booked, average plate value and referrals, reported monthly against the figures recorded at the start.

Result: You see where bookings actually come from and which months need work.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiries by source
  • Reply time on WhatsApp and calls
  • Enquiries to tastings, and tastings to bookings
  • Dates booked per month against capacity
  • Average value per plate
  • Reviews and referrals after events

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, then reported every month against it.

Priority campaigns

Campaigns for what caterers most want to sell.

Each one planned around when your buyers decide, and measured against the baseline.

  • Wedding season early-booking campaign

Content and outreach to families and planners a few months before the muhurtham season opens, with tasting days on weekends.

Result: The best dates are booked by you, early, at your price.

  • Office cafeteria and daily meals campaign

Outreach to admin and facilities managers in nearby tech parks and industrial areas, with a trial week offer and the document pack attached.

Result: A steady weekday contract balances seasonal event income.

  • Small gatherings campaign for apartments

Fixed menus for twenty to a hundred guests for birthdays, housewarmings and poojas, promoted through apartment WhatsApp groups and local search.

Result: Weekday and off-season dates fill with smaller functions.

  • Year-end corporate party campaign

A party menu and live counter package offered to HR teams from October, with a proposal format their finance team accepts.

Result: December fills with corporate events booked in advance.

  • Festival community catering campaign

Outreach to temple committees, associations and apartment festival groups before Ganesha Chaturthi, Navaratri and other local festivals.

Result: Community events become a regular part of the calendar.

Beyond search

Where we reach buyers of caterers, beyond Google.

Search matters, but it is rarely the only way this industry's buyers find a supplier.

  • Banquet halls and marriage venues

We prepare a partnership pack and a routine for staying on each venue's approved caterer list, including feedback after every event there.

  • Wedding planners and decorators

We prepare a referral arrangement with planners, decorators and photographers who meet families before the caterer is chosen.

  • Company admin and facilities managers

We prepare an introduction and trial proposal for offices, tech parks and factories near your kitchen.

  • Temple committees and community associations

We prepare festival and ceremony menus for committees that organise regular community meals.

  • Apartment and RWA groups

We prepare small-gathering menus and a WhatsApp-friendly offer for residents planning functions at home or in the clubhouse.

FAQ

Questions caterers ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Should we give a per-plate price over the phone?
Give a range with the menu attached, not a single number. A price without the item count, counters and service included becomes the figure a competitor undercuts with a smaller menu.
Should we charge for tastings?
Many caterers offer a tasting free for serious enquiries above a guest count, or adjust a small fee against the booking. What matters more is that every tasting is scheduled, reminded and followed up the next day.
How do we get onto a banquet hall's caterer list?
Venues list caterers who serve well, leave the hall clean and do not create complaints. We prepare a partnership pack with your licence, menus and past events, and a routine for staying in touch with the venue manager after each function.
Is WedMeGood worth paying for?
It depends on your city and price band. A free, complete profile with real photographs and reviews is worth maintaining, and we check enquiries from it against other sources before recommending any paid listing.
What do corporate clients check before giving a cafeteria contract?
They usually check the FSSAI licence, kitchen hygiene, staff health records, GST compliance and references, and many ask for a trial period. Having these in one document pack shortens the decision.
How do we get more referrals from the functions we cater?
Ask the host a few days after the event, when the praise from guests is still fresh, and keep a small card with your contact at the counters. Record who referred each new enquiry so you know which events keep paying.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile usually show in weeks, because the enquiries already exist. Ads show in days once follow-up is ready. SEO and content take months. The audit tells you which applies to you.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 45 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the monthly review.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Every month is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. Terms run three to six months at a time, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
