Win the cleaning shelf before Diwali, and the reorder after it.

It is the last week of October in a district town. The kirana owner is stacking his Diwali cleaning shelf, and the two national floor cleaners go at eye level. Your litre bottle, with a better fragrance and a better margin, is under the counter, because nobody has asked for it by name and he has never seen it used.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

In one paragraph

Household products marketing makes a detergent, floor cleaner, dishwash or phenyl brand the one a homemaker picks and a retailer is glad to stock. Household products sales gets it into wholesalers, kirana shops, hostels and hotels, and keeps it reordered. GullySales writes the trade and institutional offers and tracks reorders by shop and account, so you see what was used, not only what was billed.

Most regional household brands grow the same way. The owner appoints a few distributors, a salesman rides the beats, and billing climbs before the festival. Then the cartons come back with leaking caps, a hostel that sampled your cans once never reorders, and a duplicate of your pack turns up in the next town. Nobody can say which shops bought twice.

How buyers decide

How household products brands are chosen.

A homemaker buys a cleaner on habit, smell and what it costs to use. She picks what her mother used, what the shop recommends, or what she saw working on a stain. Price per wash or per bucket matters more than price per bottle, and a sachet at a low price point gets a brand tried before the bigger pack is bought.

A retailer chooses on margin, on eye-level space and on whether leaking or damaged stock is taken back without an argument. Wholesalers and distributors look at the scheme, the credit period and how soon claims are settled. Hostels, PGs, hotels, hospitals and housekeeping contractors buy cans by cost per litre, check that supply arrives on the day, and want a sample trial first. Supermarket and quick commerce buyers ask for correct label declarations, barcodes and pack photographs.

Demand follows the calendar. Cleaning peaks before Diwali, Ugadi and Pongal, floors and bathrooms matter more in summer, and phenyl, disinfectant and repellents move in the monsoon. Hostels and colleges restock when the term opens. Growth usually comes from a new district, a refill pouch, or an institutional account that reorders without being chased.

The problem

What usually goes wrong for household products brands.

What owners tell us on the first call, in their words.

  • “Our floor cleaner sits under the counter”

The national brands hold the eye-level shelf, and the shopkeeper recommends what he can see and what customers ask for by name.

  • “The pack sells on a demonstration, and nobody is there to give one”

People who saw it work buy again. Most do not see it work, because the salesman is gone in ten minutes and the shop has no demo stock.

  • “A duplicate of our pack is sold in the next town”

The bottle looks the same, the liquid is thinner, and the complaint arrives with our name on it.

  • “Hostels and hotels sample us once and never reorder”

The housekeeping head tried a can, nobody called him back, and the next order went to the supplier who did.

  • “Distributors load before the festival and return leaking packs after”

Billing looks good in October. By January the godown has damaged cartons, unpaid claims and a stack of unsold bars.

  • “Our price per wash looks dear next to a sachet”

A shopper compares bottle with sachet at the counter and does not see that one bucket costs less with ours.

What we do

What we do for household products brands.

Everything included for household products brands, and the result each part is there to produce.

  1. Distributor and wholesaler offer

One document setting out margin, schemes, credit, the rules for leaking and damaged stock, and how each claim is raised and settled.

Result: A distributor knows what he earns and when he is paid.

  2. Counter and demonstration kit for retailers

A stain card, a small demo bottle, a shelf strip and a three-line answer for the shopkeeper who is asked which cleaner is better.

Result: The shop can show the pack working instead of describing it.

  3. Institutional supply proposal and sample plan

Can sizes, dilution cards, delivery days, a named contact and a trial supply for hostels, hotels, hospitals and housekeeping contractors.

Result: A housekeeping head can trial you without writing a purchase order first.

  4. Pack and label review

Every pack read at counter distance and against the declarations the rules ask for, such as MRP and net quantity, with the precautions text checked by your chemist.

Result: The pack is picked off the shelf and passes a chain buyer's check.

  5. Seasonal combo and scheme plan

Cleaning combos for Diwali and Ugadi, monsoon packs and term-opening orders for hostels, planned back from the date the shelf is stocked.

Result: The peak is stocked in time instead of chased.

  6. Shop-level and account-level sales record

What each distributor sold to which shop, and what each institution ordered and when, from his billing or a sheet he fills in.

Result: You can tell sell-through from loading.

  7. Report against the baseline

Secondary sales, active shops, reorders, sample-to-order accounts and leak returns, set beside the figures taken before the work began.

Result: You can tell growth from stock moved into godowns.

How the result is measured

  • Secondary sales by distributor and beat
  • Shops billed and shops that reordered
  • Institutional accounts and their reorders
  • Samples sent and samples that became orders
  • Leaking and damaged packs returned, by batch
  • Scheme and claim spend against sell-through

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Worth a page and a campaign of their own

Refill pouches for floor cleaner and dishwash · Liquid detergent for front-load machines · Cans and housekeeping supply for hostels, hotels and hospitals · Distributor appointment in uncovered districts · Diwali and Ugadi cleaning combos · Monsoon range: phenyl, disinfectant and repellents · Apartment and PG bulk supply · Quick commerce and supermarket listings · Sachets and trial packs · Private label for retail chains

Priority campaigns

Campaigns for what household products brands most want to sell.

Each one planned around when your buyers decide, and measured against the baseline.

  • Diwali cleaning combo

A floor cleaner, dishwash and toilet cleaner combo offered to retailers before the cleaning weeks, with a counter strip and a scheme on the combo.

Result: The range rides the busiest weeks of the year.

  • Monsoon range push

Phenyl, disinfectant and repellents moved up the shelf and the beat plan before the rains, with a board at each wholesaler's counter.

Result: The slow months get a product that sells in them.

  • Hostel and hotel sample drive

A can, a dilution card and a callback booked at the time of sampling, for hostels, PGs, hotels and hospitals in the cities you deliver to.

Result: A trial turns into a standing order.

  • New district entry with sampling

Distributor appointment, a retailer scheme, a sampling stall at the wholesale market and boards on the routes into town, planned as one launch.

Result: Stock loaded in a new district gets used.

  • Refill pouch switch

A pouch priced against the bottle, with a counter display and a note to the homemaker on what she saves per wash.

Result: Shoppers move to the pack that costs you less to ship.

Beyond search

Where we reach buyers of household products brands, beyond Google.

Search matters, but it is rarely the only way this industry's buyers find a supplier.

  • Wholesalers and distributors in uncovered districts

A list of those already carrying home care or general goods, with godown and vehicle strength, a pitch pack and a sequence of meetings.

  • Housekeeping heads, hostel wardens and PG operators

Names found through hotel, hospital, college and hostel lists in each city, approached with a sample, a dilution card and a delivery day you can keep.

  • Apartment associations and facility managers

Society managers and committees, offered bulk cans and a stall at a residents' event, with an invoice that suits their accounts.

  • Chain and quick commerce category buyers

Listing proposals carrying label declarations, barcodes, pack photographs, pricing with the chain's margin and a promotion plan.

  • Private label and bulk buyers on IndiaMART and at fairs

Capability sheets, minimum batches and a reply routine for brands, traders and contractors who ask for rates.

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
  • You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
  • You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is reply time, a follow-up sequence, the page buyers land on or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the work runs for household products brands

  1. 1

    Read the records

In the first conversation we go through billing by distributor and shop, institutional orders, returns of leaking stock and last season's sales, so the first decision rests on records.

  2. 2

    Fix the offer

Margins, schemes, claim rules, the can and pouch price lists and the sample terms, written down and checked against what the brand can afford after the festival.

  3. 3

Equip the shop and the buyer

Counter kits, dilution cards, a selling script for the salesman and a sheet or app he will actually fill in.

  4. 4

Open one channel at a time

A new district, hostels and hotels, apartments, a chain or quick commerce, each opened when the plant, the cash and the distributors can carry it.

  5. 5

    Run the seasons

Diwali, summer and monsoon plans built from what reordered last year, with schemes judged on shops reached, not cartons billed.

FAQ

Questions household products brands ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Is a refill pouch worth launching?
Often, for floor cleaner and dishwash, because the pouch costs less to make and carry and the shopper sees a lower price per use. Test it in one district beside the bottle first. Check that the shop keeps it upright, since pouches stacked badly leak.
How do we begin selling to hostels and hotels?
Start with ten or twenty institutions in one city. Send a can with a dilution card, ask who signs the purchase, and call when the trial is due to finish. Housekeeping heads reorder from whoever answered their questions and delivered when promised.
Should the same price list go to kirana shops and institutions?
No. Institutions buy cans by the litre at a different margin, and a kirana owner who sees the can rate will ask for it. Keep two price lists and two product ranges, and tell distributors which accounts are institutional.
What do chains and quick commerce apps check on a household pack?
Usually correct declarations such as MRP and net quantity, a barcode, the manufacturer's address and any registration your product category needs. Insecticide and some disinfectant products have extra rules. Rules change, so check with your regulatory adviser before printing.
Is private label work worth taking?
It can fill spare plant capacity, but it builds the buyer's brand and ties your plant to his schedule. Decide the share of capacity you will give it first, and keep your own brand's fragrances and pack formats out of his range.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and we tell you which applies to you after we have spoken. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
To start, last month's enquiries in any format and time with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
