Flower shops · Sales process

Turn a wedding quote request into a booked advance within one conversation.

A sales process for a flower shop is the fixed set of steps from an enquiry to a paid order. It differs for a same-day gift and a wedding booking, so nothing depends on which staff member happens to answer. GullySales writes both processes with your team and gives you the record to see where enquiries drop out.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What sales process means

A sales process is the fixed sequence of steps, such as enquiry, site visit, quote and order, that every deal is expected to pass through in the same order. GullySales writes this sequence down for your business and checks that every salesperson actually follows it.

For flower shops

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Same-day orders need speed, not a script”

A customer wanting delivery within the hour needs a fast confirmation of price, availability and delivery time. There should be no back and forth that risks losing the sale to a faster competitor.

  • “Wedding quotes need a portfolio and a follow-up date”

A couple quoted for their wedding flowers goes away to compare. Without a follow-up on day three and day seven, the enquiry is quietly lost to a florist who called back.

  • “An advance payment step protects the booking”

A wedding date is only truly secured once an advance is paid, and the process should move every serious enquiry to that step rather than leaving a verbal agreement open.

What we do

What we deliver for flower shops.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Fast same-day confirmation steps

A defined, quick sequence for confirming price, availability and delivery time on an urgent enquiry.

Result: An urgent buyer is confirmed before they think to call anywhere else.

  2. Wedding quote and portfolio pairing

A rule that every wedding quote goes out together with matching portfolio photographs.

Result: A couple has something concrete to judge, not just a number.

  3. Scheduled wedding follow-up steps

Defined follow-up points spaced across the days after a wedding quote is sent, rather than a single message.

Result: A quoted couple is not left to decide in silence.

  4. Advance payment step

A defined point at which a wedding date is only confirmed once an advance has been paid.

Result: A booking is secured instead of resting on a verbal agreement.

  5. Written enquiry checklist

A short checklist for each kind of enquiry so any staff member follows the same steps.

Result: The outcome does not depend on which staff member happens to answer.

How the result is measured

  • Deals following the process
  • Time spent at each step
  • Drop-off rate by step

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Steps of a sale

Run a wedding order from the first message to the last setup in a fixed order.

First message
Ask the date, the venue, which functions need flowers, such as haldi, mehendi, wedding and reception, and the colour scheme. Record each function as a separate setup on the order.
Venue walk-through
Visit the hall or lawn with the decorator or venue manager. Note the entry points, the stage size and when the venue allows setup, and write the timing limit on the order.
Photos and quote by function
Send photos of your past mandap and stage work in their colours, with a quote split by function and by flower: marigold, roses, orchids, carnations. Note any flowers they asked to swap for cost.
Booking against an advance
Confirm the date only against an advance and a written list of setups. Record the balance due and when it is to be paid, before anything is ordered from the mandi.
Ordering and setup day
Order from the mandi or wholesaler against the confirmed list, and send the setup team with a printed plan for each function. Note any change the family asked for on the day.
After the wedding
Collect the balance, send photos of the setups and ask the family and the planner for a review. Record the planner's name for the next referral.

Who it is for

This is written for these flower shops.

  • Neighbourhood flower shops
  • Wedding and event florists
  • Corporate and hotel flower suppliers
  • Online flower delivery services
  • Florists specialising in funeral and sympathy arrangements
  • Florists inside malls and commercial complexes

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You quote weddings from memory without a portfolio, which the process depends on at the quote step.
  • You cannot take an advance, so the booking step has nothing to rest on.
  • Your shop is busy only with walk-in same-day sales and does not take planned orders.

How it works

How the sales process work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

    Study current deal flow

We trace how deals actually move today, comparing across reps and outcomes.

  2. 2

    Define the stages

Clear stages and criteria are designed to match how deals genuinely progress and close.

  3. 3

    Configure the CRM

The process is built into your CRM so it is enforced structurally, not just documented.

  4. 4

    Train the team

Reps are trained on the new process and why each stage exists.

  5. 5

    Review adoption

We check after rollout whether the process is being followed and adjust where it is not.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 1, prospecting and lead generation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Who follows up wedding quotes when the counter is busy?
One named person, with the follow-up dates written against each quote. Through Valentine's Day and the wedding season the counter cannot hold both jobs, so the quote list moves to whoever is not serving walk-ins that week.
What happens to enquiries that go cold?
They stay in the record with a reason noted, so you can see whether price, timing or slow follow-up is the most common cause, and fix that specifically.
Flower prices swing with the season. When should we lock a wedding quote?
Quote with a validity date and name the flowers whose price moves, such as roses near Valentine's Day or marigold in the festive season. Fix the price when the advance is paid, and say in writing what happens if a flower is unavailable. Record the quote date on the order.
A couple compares florists only on price. Should we drop ours?
Ask which flowers and how many setups the other quote covers, since two florists can quote very different volumes for the same mandap. Offer a cheaper version using seasonal flowers instead of a straight discount, and write down whether they took it.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
