Colleges and universities · Local SEO

Appear on the map when a family searches for a college near home.

Local SEO for a college means a verified Google Business Profile for the campus and each admissions office, plus pages that name the cities and districts your students come from. GullySales works on the profiles, the location pages and the answers a family needs before a campus visit.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What local SEO means

Local SEO is the work of making your business show up for searches that name your town or locality, such as a service plus an area name. GullySales sets up locality pages, local citations and map listings so nearby customers find you before a competitor across town.

Last updated 6 Oct 2026. Rules for this trade differ by state and professional body, and they change. We describe restrictions in general terms, so check the current position with your own council or adviser before you publish anything.

For colleges and universities

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Parents search by distance before they search by brand”

A parent in a district town types a course name and the nearest city. The college with a correct address, a working phone line and its programmes listed on the map appears ahead of a better-known name whose listing is stale or claimed by nobody.

  • “One university, several addresses, one confused caller”

A main campus, a city admissions office and a hostel block can each end up with a duplicate or mislabelled profile. The caller reaches a closed desk, and the family arrives at the wrong gate on the day of the visit.

  • “Directions decide whether the visit happens”

A family travelling from another town needs the bus stand, the nearest station, the visitor gate and the hours of the admissions desk. A profile that leaves these out sends the family to a competitor whose route is clearer.

  • “The star rating sits beside the college name”

Photos from final-year students and replies from the office to complaints about hostel or fees are read by a parent before any prospectus is opened. A profile left unanswered looks like an office that does not listen.

What we do

What we deliver for colleges and universities.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Verified profile for every campus and office

We claim, verify and correct the profile for each place a family can walk into, with one name, address, phone line and set of admissions hours.

Result: Each campus and office shows one correct entry on the map, which you can search for yourself.

  2. Programme and facility details on the profile

Courses offered, approvals as written on your affiliation letter, hostel, library and transport facilities entered as the profile fields allow.

Result: A parent sees what the campus offers without leaving the map.

  3. Location pages for your feeder districts

A page for each town or district that sends you students, covering travel routes, counselling centres you attend and the programmes relevant to that area.

Result: A page exists for every town you want to be found in, and you can open and read it.

  4. A visit-day information block

Gate, parking, the documents to carry, who to ask for at the desk and the closing time, written once and used on the profile and the site.

Result: The same visit instructions appear everywhere a family looks.

  5. Listing clean-up across portals and directories

The college name, address and phone line corrected wherever an old version still shows, and removal requested where a listing is wrong and abandoned.

Result: A search for the college shows the same details on every listing we found.

  6. Photo and post plan for the profile

Campus, laboratory and hostel photographs with the consent of anyone shown, and posts about open days and counselling dates.

Result: The profile carries current images and dates that your office can edit.

How the result is measured

  • Map pack ranking
  • Local search visibility
  • Enquiries by locality

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Who it is for

This is written for these colleges and universities.

  • Private engineering colleges admitting through state CET and JEE Main
  • Arts, science and commerce degree colleges
  • Business schools and PGDM institutes
  • Nursing, pharmacy and allied health colleges
  • Law colleges with five-year integrated programmes
  • Private universities and deemed-to-be universities
  • Autonomous colleges affiliated to a state university
  • Design, architecture and media colleges

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the local SEO work runs

  1. 1

    Audit every listing

We check the Google Business Profile and directory listings for every branch against what should actually be shown.

  2. 2

    Complete and correct

Profiles are filled in fully and inconsistent details are corrected across every directory found.

  3. 3

    Build location pages

Each branch gets a page written for its own area, not a copy of the head office page with the address changed.

  4. 4

    Set up review handling

A simple process for requesting and responding to reviews is put in place with whoever is closest to the customer.

  5. 5

    Report and adjust

Map actions and enquiries per branch are reported, and branches falling behind are prioritised the next month.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

We have a main campus and an off-campus centre. Do both need a profile?
Yes, if a family can visit each one. Give each its own address and phone line, and name the programmes taught there. Do not list a place that is only a mailing address, because the platform's current rules on that can lead to suspension.
Can the profile mention our NAAC grade or NIRF rank?
Only if the wording matches the award exactly and carries the year. Advertising rules differ by profession and state, so check the text with your regulator's current guidance or a legal adviser before it goes live.
Who should answer the phone number on the profile?
A trained admissions counsellor with a fee sheet in hand, not the general reception. Local searches bring calls from families ready to visit, and a missed call goes straight to the next college on the map.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
