Commercial photographers · Digital marketing

Choose the few channels where a brand manager actually looks for a photographer.

Digital marketing for a commercial photographer is the combined use of search, social media, directories and outreach to reach the people who commission shoots. GullySales works on choosing the channels worth the studio's time and measuring which of them bring paid work.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

Photographers and videographers: show a real physical business scene illustrating Booking calendar with advances. Show each date with the event, package, advance and crew assigned, so a clash surfaces before you confirm a second booking.

What digital marketing means

Digital marketing is the combined work of search, social media, advertising and website channels running together rather than as separate projects with separate people. GullySales runs these as one connected system so a change in one channel, such as a new offer, is reflected everywhere at once.

For commercial photographers

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Referral is the main route and digital supports it”

Commercial work comes mainly through a designer, an agency or a past client. Digital marketing succeeds when it gives those people something to forward, such as a clear page, a short pack or a profile that confirms what they said.

  • “Paid ads reach the wrong audience unless the subject is narrow”

A broad advertisement for photography draws wedding and portrait enquiries. A narrow one for catalogue photography for manufacturers in your city reaches fewer people but the right ones. Test small, with one subject at a time.

  • “Every channel needs the same destination”

An Instagram post, a directory listing and a search result should all lead to the subject page that matches. If each leads to the home page, the buyer has to hunt, and the best channel looks weak.

  • “Measure enquiries by subject and source”

A studio that counts only the number of messages cannot tell whether food, product or factory work is growing. Recording the subject and the source of each enquiry shows where to spend time next.

What we do

What we deliver for commercial photographers.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A channel plan for the studio

A short document choosing the channels worth using, based on where past clients came from.

Result: A clear list of what to do and what to leave alone.

  2. Subject landing pages

A page for each subject you shoot, used as the destination for posts, ads and listings.

Result: Every channel points to a page that suits the buyer.

  3. A test advertisement for one subject

A small paid test for a single subject, such as product photography for manufacturers, with its own page and tracking.

Result: A clean view of what the test brought.

  4. An enquiry and source record

A sheet logging each enquiry's subject, source, estimate and result.

Result: Evidence of which channel brings paid shoots.

  5. A referrer-facing set of materials

A pack and links designed for designers and agencies to pass on.

Result: Referrers have something ready to forward.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiries across channels
  • Cost per enquiry overall
  • Channel mix by contribution

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Searches your buyers type

The few places a brand manager looks before booking a photographer.

[studio name] food photography
A subject page with finished menu shoots and the process. Shared with the referrer who recommended you.
[studio name] Instagram work
A profile sorted by subject so a buyer finds their kind of shoot in a scroll. Highlights hold the process.
jewellery photographer enquiry
A landing page for one small paid test, with the brief form and a sample set. Narrow subject only; wide ads reach the wrong audience.
[studio name] estimate request
A form asking subject, use, date and approver. Tracked so you know which source sent it.
portfolio PDF for agencies
A file by subject that an agency can forward to a client. Opened counts show which subject interests them.

Who it is for

This is written for these commercial photographers.

  • Product and catalogue photographers
  • Food and restaurant menu photographers
  • Jewellery and fashion photographers
  • Architecture, interior and real estate photographers
  • Industrial and factory photographers
  • Corporate portrait and headshot photographers
  • Advertising campaign photographers working with agencies
  • E-commerce photographers shooting at volume for marketplace sellers

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • Referrals fill the calendar and the studio cannot take more shoots, so spend would bring work you decline.
  • You have no subject page to send a paid click to, so the money would reach a general gallery.
  • You want every channel, when two or three give you the brand managers you want.

How it works

How the digital marketing work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

    Agree the one aim

We settle what the campaign must achieve, such as enquiries for a launch or footfall for an event, and the date it must be live.

  2. 2

    Check what is ready

We list the channels you already run, who runs them, and what each can produce in the time available. Anything that cannot be done properly is left out.

  3. 3

Write the idea and the message sheet

We draft the one-sentence idea, test it against each planned format, and fix the wording that all channels will copy.

  4. 4

Brief every channel from the same sheet

Your agency, freelancer or in-house person receives the message sheet and calendar. Their work is checked against the sheet before it goes out.

  5. 5

    Run on the shared calendar

Channels go live together. If the offer changes, every channel is changed on the same day from the same sheet.

  6. 6

    Measure as one campaign

Enquiries and orders are read against the baseline. The reporting schedule is agreed in writing with the scope.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 0, foundation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Should we run paid advertisements?
Try a small test on one subject if you have spare capacity for that work. Judge it by estimates and shoots booked, not by clicks.
Which channel should come first?
The one where your past clients came from. Start with the subject pages and the profile, then add channels as the record shows what works.
Do we need a marketing person?
Not at the start. A studio owner can run a few well-chosen channels with a clear plan, and bring in help when the volume of enquiries justifies it.
Should a studio run paid advertisements?
Only for one narrow subject with a page of its own, as a small test. Broad ads reach people who want a phone picture or a free shoot. Photography is bought on trust through referrals, so digital should support the referral by giving the buyer something to check.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
