The sales process · Sales closure
Nobody in the history of your trade has bought because of slide seven.
A sales presentation is the deck or the printed folder a salesperson carries into a meeting. It covers who you are, the problem you understand, what you would do, proof you have done it before, and the money. Its real job starts after the meeting, when somebody who was not there reads it.
In one paragraph
A sales presentation is the deck or the printed folder a salesperson carries into a meeting. It covers who you are, the problem you understand, what you would do, proof you have done it before, and the money. Its real job starts after the meeting, when somebody who was not there reads it.
Closing tactics decide what happens in the last ten minutes. The presentation fills the middle, and it is the least important part of the meeting by a distance. A buyer decides on what you asked, what you understood, and whether you rang back when you said you would.
That does not make the deck pointless. It has one genuine job, and it is not persuasion in the room. It is the thing that gets forwarded to the partner, the finance head or the group office who never met you. It has to make sense to them with nobody standing there narrating.
So build it for the absent reader. Ten slides, six sections, no page that only works with a person standing next to it. If your business sells to site engineers and purchase managers, a printed folder of photographs may do more than any deck. There is no shame in that.
Where this sits
Stage 8 of 10, sales closure. The meeting, the decision, and what you learn from the ones you win and the ones you lose.
- The stage before
- Proposal and follow-up
- The stage after
- After the order
If you want this done for you
Answer what can you actually do before the buyer has to ask.
The work
What this step is actually like.
“The order, and why it is not the usual one”
Who you are in one line. The problem, said back to them in their own words from the meeting you already had. What you would actually do. Evidence you have done it for somebody like them. How the money works. What happens next. The company history and the founding year go at the back, or nowhere.
“How few slides it needs”
Ten is generous for most small-business sales. A thirty-slide deck in a thirty-minute meeting means the buyer spends the whole time waiting for you to finish. Cut every slide that says what you value rather than what you do, every stock photograph of a handshake, and the map of India with dots on it.
“The folder still beats the laptop in half of Indian selling”
A contractor meeting a site engineer on a half-built floor cannot open a laptop. Photographs of completed work, the material test certificate, the client list on one page, the specification sheet and a rate card in a plastic folder are the right tool. Send the same photographs on WhatsApp that evening and you have covered both.
“Who signs off what is in it”
The owner approves the claims, because the claims are promises the firm will be held to. Whoever presents it must be able to present it without reading from it. And somebody technical should check the specification page, since a wrong tolerance or a wrong certificate number in a printed folder is discovered by the one buyer who knows.
What we do
What you end up with.
The artefacts this step produces, what each one is for, and how you know it is finished.
One standing deck
A master file covering the six sections, kept in one place, with a date on the last slide so anybody can see how old the version in their inbox is.
Result: Nobody rebuilds the same slides before every meeting.
The proof pages
Photographs, drawings, certificates and named customers you are allowed to name, gathered once. This is the part that takes weeks, and the part everybody skips.
Result: Claims in the deck have something behind them.
A sendable version
The same content as a single file small enough to go on WhatsApp, readable on a phone, with your number on the first page and the last.
Result: The person who decides can read it without you.
