A canvas is cheap to make and expensive to ship without a dent.

Canvases are among the simplest products in art and the hardest to ship. The frame bends, the corners crush, the surface gets a thumbprint. A buyer who opens a dented canvas is not sympathetic.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

In one paragraph

Canvases online are stretched cotton and linen canvases, canvas boards, canvas panels, rolls and easels, sold by size, depth and priming to painters, schools and decorators. GullySales works on how your listings state size, depth and surface in terms a painter trusts, how the damage problem is handled in the pack and the page, and how wholesale and institutional orders are quoted.

It is also a product bought by quantity. Art classes, painting events, decorators and cafes order canvases in tens, and the seller who answers the quote first wins.

Who it is for

This is written for you if you sell canvases online.

  • Sellers of stretched canvases and canvas boards for hobby and professional painters
  • Makers of custom-size canvases and canvas rolls
  • Dealers who supply art classes, painting events and institutions
  • Sellers of easels, palettes and display equipment who stock canvases alongside

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • A seller who cannot say the size, depth and priming of each canvas
  • A store without a packing method that keeps frames square in transit

How buyers choose

What decides the sale of canvases.

  1. Size and depth

Sizes in inches or centimetres, and the depth of the frame, thin or gallery. Painters who plan to hang without a frame look at the edge.

  2. Cotton or linen, and priming

Cotton is the common choice, linen costs more and is chosen by serious painters. Primed with gesso or not, and for which medium.

  3. Weight of the cloth and tightness

A canvas that sags after a week is a poor one. The buyer asks how tightly it is stretched and whether it can be re-tightened.

  4. Quantity and custom size

Painting classes need twenty the same size on a date. Decorators ask for a size that is not on the list.

Where sales are lost

What usually goes wrong when you sell canvases online.

In the words sellers use on the first call.

  • “Canvases come damaged, and the courier blames the pack”

The frame was square when it left and bent on the way. Each case is a free replacement and a one-star review.

  • “Art class orders go to a shop we have never heard of”

A teacher needs twenty canvases for an event. They do not find a quantity rate on your site, so they phone a stationer.

  • “Buyers cannot tell our canvas from a thin one”

The photograph shows a square white rectangle. Depth, cloth and priming cannot be seen, and so the buyer picks on price.

The scope

The work we would propose for canvases.

Measured on purchases, conversion rate, cost to win a customer, average order value and repeat purchases. Anything here that needs a platform or tool we have not used with you is confirmed in the audit before it goes in the scope.

What we do

What you get for canvases.

Each deliverable and what it is there to change.

  1. A canvas specification card

Size, depth, cloth, priming and the medium it suits, formatted the same way across every canvas you sell.

  2. A packing standard

Photographs and a checklist for the packing table, built from where your canvases are damaged.

  3. A quantity rate sheet

Rates for ten, twenty and fifty canvases of the common sizes, ready to send.

  4. A class and event order page

A form that takes size, number and date, and answers with a quote.

How the result is measured

  • Purchases
  • Conversion rate
  • Return rate
  • Damaged-order rate
  • Quotation requests for class and event orders
  • Repeat purchase rate

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

What we need from you

What to have ready before the audit call.

None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.

  • Your canvas range with size, depth and cloth
  • Damaged-in-transit returns and their photographs
  • Quantity orders from classes or events, and the quotes that were lost
  • Courier partners and how they were chosen
  • Your best sizes by season

Selling in India and abroad

Selling canvases beyond your own market.

Where you sell decides sizes, units, seasons and returns. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new country we start from your own sales and the platforms you already use.

  1. Size and shipping cost

Large canvases are bulky and costly to send abroad, and dimensional weight decides the price. Smaller sizes and rolled canvas travel better.

  2. Sizes in other markets

Buyers elsewhere use inches or centimetres by habit. List both, and explain depth in a way that is the same in either.

FAQ

Questions about selling canvases online.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How can I cut canvas damage in transit?
Put corner guards on each canvas, sandwich it between rigid board and wrap the whole pack so it cannot slide. Then check your damage returns, because the same corner usually breaks. A packing change often costs less than replacements.
Should I offer custom sizes?
Only if you can make them to a fixed standard and quote them quickly. Decorators and cafes ask for odd sizes, and a form that takes the size and answers with a price wins them.
How do I reach art classes and schools?
Through the people who run them: teachers, studio owners and event organisers. A rate for a set quantity and a delivery date is what they need. They reorder, so each good delivery sets up the next one.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped in the free audit and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.
