GullySales

E-commerce · Eyewear, jewellery and watches

Buyers will not order glasses online until they believe the frame will fit their face.

Eyewear sits on the face all day, so the buyer decides on fit, weight and look. Most online shoppers are also afraid of getting the power wrong. A seller who has no virtual try-on, no clear prescription upload and no easy exchange loses them to a store down the road.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

In one paragraph

Eyewear e-commerce is the online sale of prescription glasses, sunglasses, contact lenses, reading glasses and eyewear accessories, to buyers who need both a fit and, for many products, a valid prescription. GullySales works on how those buyers find you, how your pages handle frame fit and prescription questions, and how a first pair becomes a second.

The segment mixes very different purchases. A sunglasses buyer is shopping on look and brand. A contact lens buyer is reordering the same product and compares only on price and delivery. A prescription buyer wants reassurance, and reading glasses come with a family member's request.

Last updated 7 Oct 2026. Product, labelling and advertising rules for eyewear differ by product and change. We describe them in general terms, so check the current position with your own adviser or the regulator before you publish a claim.

Who it is for

This is written for you if you sell eyewear online.

  • Optical retailers and chains with showrooms now selling frames and lenses online
  • Online-first eyewear brands selling direct to buyers in many cities
  • Sunglass and fashion frame sellers on Instagram, Myntra and Amazon
  • Contact lens and lens-care sellers handling repeat orders
  • Sellers of readers and accessories whose buyers rarely compare more than price

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • A seller who dispenses prescription products with no optometrist or valid prescription check
  • Anyone who wants marketing to make health claims about lenses or eye care

How buyers choose

What decides who wins in eyewear.

  1. Frame size and face shape

Lens width, bridge and temple length printed on the frame, and a guide to what suits a round or a narrow face. A virtual try-on or a photograph on a real face is what buyers compare against.

  2. The prescription

The buyer enters or uploads the prescription and wonders whether it will be read correctly. A clear form, a check by your optician team and a promise of a call-back where something looks wrong calm the worry.

  3. Lens options and coatings

Single vision, progressive, blue-light filtering, anti-glare, photochromic. The buyer needs each option in plain words and a price that does not jump at checkout.

  4. Return, remake and home trial

What happens if the lenses do not feel right, whether a pair can be remade, and who pays for it. This line decides a first order.

Where sales are lost

What usually goes wrong when you sell eyewear online.

In the words sellers use on the first call.

  • “People try our frames at the store and then order online elsewhere”

A showroom visit does not mean a sale. If your own site is harder to use than a marketplace, the buyer takes the frame model number and orders from the cheapest seller.

  • “Customers drop out at the prescription step”

A form that asks for sphere, cylinder and axis without explanation is where first-time buyers give up. The question that follows on WhatsApp is "what do I fill here".

  • “Lens options confuse buyers and the total price surprises them”

The frame is shown at one price, and coatings and lens types add to it at the last step. The buyer feels they were misled and leaves the cart.

  • “We win the first pair and nothing after”

A pair of glasses lasts a year or two and a lens pack for a few weeks. Without a reminder tied to when the buyer would need the next one, the reorder goes to someone else.

What we do

What you get for eyewear.

Each deliverable and what it is there to change.

  1. A frame size and face shape guide

How to read the numbers on a frame, and which styles suit which faces, written for your range and shown beside each product.

  2. A prescription help page

A plain explanation of the prescription fields with a sample, plus a call-back option, to cut the abandoned prescription forms.

  3. A lens options table

A single table that sets out each lens type and coating with its price, so the total is no surprise at checkout.

  4. A remake and return page

Your terms for wrong power, damage and fit, in one place and linked from the cart.

  5. A reorder reminder plan

Reminders matched to lens packs and annual checks, sent through WhatsApp and email.

How the result is measured

  • Purchases
  • Conversion rate
  • Customer acquisition cost
  • Average order value
  • Repeat purchase rate
  • Prescription form completion and remake requests

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

What the work involves for eyewear

  1. 1

Follow a buyer from frame to payment

In the free audit we trace the route from search to prescription to checkout, and note the step where buyers leave.

  2. 2

    Fix fit and prescription pages

Size guidance, face shape help, lens options and the prescription form are improved before any new spend.

  3. 3

Set the baseline and open the channels

Purchases, form completion, returns and remakes are recorded first, then search, local listings and ads for frames and sunglasses are set up.

  4. 4

    Bring buyers back

Reminders for lens refills and eye tests go out with consent, and results are reported against the baseline at intervals agreed in writing after the audit.

What we need from you

What to have ready before the audit call.

None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.

  • Your store and marketplace links, and your Instagram handle
  • Your best-selling frames and lenses
  • Where buyers abandon the prescription or lens step
  • Returns and remakes with the reason given
  • Your optometrist or in-house check process, described as it works today

Selling in India and abroad

Selling eyewear beyond your own market.

Where you sell decides sizes, units, seasons and returns. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new country we start from your own sales and the platforms you already use.

  1. Prescription rules differ by country

What a seller may supply and what a buyer must show varies by country and changes. Confirm with your adviser before offering prescription products outside India.

  2. Sunglasses and frames travel more easily

Frames and sunglasses travel better than lenses or contact lenses. Seasonality flips for the southern hemisphere, and the first step is to see which countries already order from your store.

FAQ

Questions about selling eyewear online.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Will customers buy prescription glasses online?
Some will, once the page shows fit and handles the prescription well. Many want a call-back from your team before paying. We look at where they drop off to see what is holding back orders.
Do I need virtual try-on?
Not to begin. Frame measurements and photographs on real faces answer most of the question. A try-on tool is worth adding if your catalogue is large. Your platform decides what can be added, and we confirm it in the audit.
Can I advertise lenses or contact lenses?
Advertising rules for medical products and prescription items differ and change. We write the ad, then your adviser or the regulator confirms what you may claim. We do not write health claims.
How do I sell more to people who already bought?
Remind them when the next pair, lens pack or eye test is due, with their consent. A pair lasts a year or two, so the timing comes from your own records. We set the reminders up in the audit follow-up.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped in the free audit and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.
