Insurance agents and advisers · WhatsApp marketing

Use WhatsApp for the conversation a family already wants to have with you.

WhatsApp marketing for an insurance agent means a business number, saved replies, explainers to share and consent-based messages for renewals and updates. GullySales works on setting that up inside the platform's rules and your insurer's approval needs.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What WhatsApp marketing means

WhatsApp marketing is sending updates, offers and reminders to customers on the app most Indian buyers already check daily. GullySales sets up business WhatsApp, writes the message templates and keeps the list consented and current.

Last updated 6 Oct 2026. Rules for this trade differ by state and professional body, and they change. We describe restrictions in general terms, so check the current position with your own council or adviser before you publish anything.

For insurance agents and advisers

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Families already use WhatsApp for documents”

Policy copies, hospital bills and identity proofs move through family groups. An agent present there, with a saved number and a clear profile, is the first person a family thinks of when a claim begins.

  • “Forwards are not marketing”

A forwarded image of plan benefits, copied from an insurer or another agent, can misstate cover and may need approval. A short reply in your own words, answering one question, serves the family better.

  • “Consent comes before broadcast”

A client who gave a number for a claim has not agreed to promotions. Ask permission to send renewal reminders and updates, record it and honour an opt-out. Check the platform's current rules.

  • “The reply is the product”

A family writes at night about a hospital admission. An acknowledgement that says when a person will answer is better than silence. The profile should state your working hours so nobody guesses.

What we do

What we deliver for insurance agents and advisers.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. WhatsApp Business profile and catalogue

A business profile with your name, address, hours and a catalogue of explainers on the cover you advise on.

Result: A family messaging you sees a practice, not a stranger.

  2. Saved replies for common questions

Short answers to waiting periods, documents for claims and how to reach you, in the language your clients use.

Result: You answer well without retyping.

  3. Opt-in capture and record

A simple way to ask for permission to send reminders, with the answer stored against the client.

Result: You can show who agreed to hear from you.

  4. Renewal reminder messages

Plain reminder messages for life, health and motor renewals, written to avoid product claims.

Result: Clients get a reminder they can act on.

  5. Rule for moving to a call

Guidance on when a chat should become a phone call, such as claims and sensitive health matters.

Result: Delicate subjects are handled by voice, not by text.

How the result is measured

  • Messages delivered
  • Reply rate
  • Enquiries from WhatsApp

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What to capture or send

Messages an insurance agent can send on WhatsApp after consent.

Families already send documents on WhatsApp. Reply as you would at the dining table, and move to a call when advice is needed.

Greeting with your authorisation line
A first reply naming you, the insurers you represent and how you assist. Save it as a quick reply and fill in the family's name.
Documents needed for a quote
A list matched to the cover being discussed. Ask for photographs of the papers only, never of a person's medical file.
Renewal reminder
Sent ahead of the date to a client who agreed, with a request to confirm if details changed. Record the answer in the register.
Claim paper checklist
A saved reply listing what to gather after an accident or admission. Follow it with a call, not more text.
Festival greeting with a policy check
A greeting that asks families to review their policy dates. Keep it to clients who agreed to receive messages.
Opt-out and call request
A reply confirming the stop and offering a call instead. Record the opt-out the same day.

Who it is for

This is written for these insurance agents and advisers.

  • Individual life insurance agents tied to insurers
  • Health insurance agents and advisers
  • General insurance agents for motor, home and travel cover
  • Point of sales persons (POSP) working through a broker
  • Corporate agents and small insurance agencies
  • Insurance consultants advising on claims and portfolio reviews
  • Agents focused on SME and commercial cover
  • Family-run agencies handling second-generation clients

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • Your contact list was never asked whether messages were welcome, so a broadcast would reach people who did not agree
  • You work from one shared number with no one tasked to reply, and a client would wait with no answer

How it works

How the whatsapp marketing work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

Read the chats you already have

We read how customers write to you, which questions repeat and where a chat goes quiet. The repeated questions decide what gets automated first.

  2. 2

Sort the list and the permission

Contacts who asked to hear from you are separated from numbers that only sit in a phone book. We agree the wording new contacts will see before they say yes.

  3. 3

Choose the app or the API

One phone and a small team can stay on the ordinary app. Several people on one number, templates or a CRM link need the API through a provider, which is its own piece of setup work.

  4. 4

Write the replies and the plan

The greeting, away message, saved replies and handover rule are written in your words and approved by you. The message plan and its templates follow.

  5. 5

    Connect the record and test

Each link carries its source line and each chat lands in the CRM. We test on real phones, including a customer who asks for a person.

  6. 6

    Read the unanswered questions

A question the first reply could not answer becomes a new saved reply or a fixed handover. Stop requests are watched too, with the number's quality rating where the API is used, since both show a message plan that has gone too far.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 0, foundation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Can we message our whole contact list?
Not without consent. Message only people who agreed to hear from you and give an easy way to stop. Check the platform's current rules and your own adviser on unsolicited communication.
Is the free business app enough?
For a small practice, yes. A larger agency may add the platform's business interface through a provider. We recommend by the size of your book and the volume of messages.
Should clients send health reports over chat?
Prefer your insurer's portal or another secure route for sensitive documents. Chat is for the conversation and the checklist, not for the medical file.
Can we forward an insurer's promotional message to clients?
Not without the insurer's approval of that exact message and the client's consent to receive messages from you. A forwarded message can read as your advertisement, with the insurer's conditions missing. Ask your insurer which material is cleared for chat, and send only that.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
