Freight forwarding companies · Logistics
Be the forwarder an exporter asks for rates from before the shipment is booked.
An exporter of garments in Tiruppur has a buyer's order, a shipment date and a shipping line that has just changed its sailing. The same enquiry goes to four forwarders on WhatsApp and email. The one who replies with a rate to the destination port, the transit time and the cut-off dates is the one that gets a call.
Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

In one paragraph
A freight forwarder arranges the movement of an exporter's or importer's cargo by sea or air, handling bookings, documents and partners at each end. Marketing puts you in front of exporters when they are choosing a forwarder. Sales keeps each rate request, quote and second contact on record by lane and cargo type.
Freight forwarding looks like a commodity where the lowest rate wins, and for a single container the rate counts for a lot. A steady book belongs to the forwarder a shipper trusts with the documents, the one who answers when a bill of lading is wrong at midnight.

How buyers decide
How freight forwarding companies are chosen.
The person asking for rates is the exporter's logistics or shipping executive, or the owner of a smaller firm. They collect quotes from several forwarders for the same port pair, container size or weight, and compare freight, local charges, free days at destination and transit time.
Past the price, the choice is about who is reliable on documents and problems. Exporters ask other exporters, trade associations and export promotion councils for forwarders who deal well with a particular port, cargo or country.
Import cargo can also arrive through an overseas agent who nominates an Indian forwarder to handle it. That route runs on relationships and on appearing in the networks and directories where agents look, and a thin online presence gives a first-time agent very little to go on.
The problem
What usually goes wrong for freight forwarding companies.
What owners tell us on the first call, in their words.
“Every enquiry is a rate shop and we lose most on price”
The exporter sends the same mail to five forwarders and goes with the lowest, and next month does the same again.
“Our best shippers do not know all we handle”
A customer who ships by sea does not know we do air freight, and sends the urgent consignment to someone else.
“We are invisible to first-time exporters”
New exporters ask on a forum or at a trade fair who to use, and our name does not come up.
“Quotes sit unanswered after the first reply”
We send the rate, hear nothing, and nobody calls to find out whether the shipment is still going or has gone to a rival.
“Our site lists services but not lanes or cargo”
An importer of machinery looking for a forwarder from Shanghai to Chennai sees a page on global logistics solutions.
“Only a few overseas agents nominate us”
We depend on a few agents and have no way to be found by others.
What we do
What we do for freight forwarding companies.
Everything included for freight forwarding companies.
A lane page for each port pair and cargo type
Pages such as Chennai to Jebel Ali for garments, or Nhava Sheva to Rotterdam for machinery, saying the services you offer on that lane and what an exporter should send to get a quote.
A rate request form and WhatsApp reply kit
A short form that collects commodity, weight or volume, ports, Incoterm and dates, plus a standard reply for the sales desk to send with the quote.
Quote record and follow-up note
A record of every quote with exporter, lane and date, and a note for the second contact asking whether the shipment is firm.
Exporter outreach list
Manufacturers and merchant exporters in the clusters near you, sorted by what they ship and where, with an introduction and a capability note.
A capability deck for overseas agents
A short deck in English with your offices, lanes, handling strengths and partners, ready for network meetings and email introductions.
Reporting against the baseline
Rate requests by source, quotes sent, bookings and shippers repeating, set against the position recorded at the start.
How the result is measured
- Rate requests by source and lane
- Quotes sent and bookings won
- Quotes that got a second contact asking if the shipment is firm
- Repeat shippers in a period
- Enquiries from overseas agents
- Shipments by cargo type and by port
Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.
Every service, written for freight forwarding companies
Each has its own page: what it involves for freight forwarding companies, what you get, and what it is measured on.
- Lead generationReach the exporters who ship on the ports and cargo you already handle well.
- SEOAppear when an exporter searches for a forwarder to a named port and cargo.
- Social media marketingKeep your name in front of shippers between one shipment and the next.
- Content marketingPublish the guides an exporter reads before choosing who will move the cargo.
- Buyer personasKnow who asks for the rate, who approves the forwarder and what each of them fears.
- CRMKeep every exporter, quote and lane on one record the whole team can read.
- Follow-up systemsCall after the quote goes out and find out whether the shipment is still moving.
- WhatsApp marketingAnswer rate requests on the app your shippers already use to ask for them.
- Digital marketingSpend on the channels that bring a rate request for a lane you can win.
- WebsiteBuild a site that tells an exporter your lanes, your cargo and how to ask for a rate.
Worth a page and a campaign of their own
Export lead generation from manufacturers and merchant exporters · Quote follow-up on rate requests · Sea and air freight lane pages · Cargo-specific pages for garments, food, machinery and chemicals · Overseas agent networks and nominations · Trade fair and export council presence · Documentation and customs partner clarity · Repeat shipper accounts
Priority campaigns
Campaigns for what freight forwarding companies most want to sell.
Each one planned around when your buyers decide, and measured against the baseline.
Cluster-based exporter campaign
Introductions to exporters in clusters such as garments, leather, engineering and spices, with a page for each cargo type and a call plan for the sales team.
New exporter starter note
A short guide on choosing a forwarder, the documents to keep ready and the questions to ask, shared through export councils and WhatsApp groups.
Air freight urgent cargo campaign
Search ads and a landing page for urgent air shipment enquiries, with a call number staffed after hours.
Trade fair follow-up
A record of every visiting card collected at a fair, with a message for each and a call to those who ship on your lanes.
Dormant shipper reactivation
A message and call to exporters who shipped with you once or twice and have not sent a shipment lately.
Beyond search
Where we reach buyers of freight forwarding companies, beyond Google.
Search matters, but it is rarely the only way this industry's buyers find a supplier.
Logistics and shipping executives at exporting firms
The executive collects the quotes and passes a shortlist to the owner, so the lane note has to make sense to both.
Merchant exporters and trading houses
A trading house sending cotton shirts to one port and steel fittings to another wants a single desk for both, so the note lists every lane you cover.
Importers of machinery and raw material
A buyer importing from abroad needs a forwarder at the origin and a clearing arrangement at the Indian port.
Export promotion councils and industry associations
Exporters new to a country ask the council or association for names, so a member talk, a short note and a complete directory entry put yours among them.
Overseas forwarders and agent networks
An English page written for an agent abroad who needs an Indian partner at a named port, and a list of forwarder networks to approach for nominations.

Where this fits
Three pieces of sales work, in this order.
GullySales builds every engagement from three pieces of sales work. This page is not one of them, but the same three steps apply to the business behind it.
Step 1
Sales audit
Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.
Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.
Step 2
Sales process design
One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.
Start here if every salesperson sells differently.
Step 3
Sales management
A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.
Start here if the team has targets and no routine.
