Personal care brands · Buyer persona

Know who buys the second bottle: the shopper, the chemist and the salon owner.

A buyer persona for a personal care brand is a written description of one real kind of buyer, the concern that sends them looking, what they check on the pack and what brings them back. GullySales builds the personas from your bills, reviews and outlet visits, with one for the shopper and one for each trade buyer who decides whether the shopper ever sees the product.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What buyer persona means

A buyer persona is a plain description of the kind of customer who actually buys from you. It includes what they search, what worries them and who else they ask before deciding. GullySales builds this from real enquiries and past sales rather than a generic template, then uses it to write every page and advert.

For personal care brands

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The person who pays is not always the person who uses”

The daughter buys hair oil for the mother. The wife picks a beard oil as a gift. A baby lotion is chosen by a parent who has read every word on the back. One persona for the user alone sends the label's promise to the wrong reader.

  • “The concern is the persona, and age is only a detail”

Two buyers of the same age differ completely if one has an itchy scalp and the other has thinning hair. Group buyers by the worry that started the search, such as dandruff, tan or cracked heels, and the claims, the ingredients and the price on show begin to line up.

  • “The chemist reads the pack with a different checklist”

A pharmacist asks whether you take back near-expiry packs, whether your brand brings customers of its own, and what to tell a customer who reports a rash. A persona built from the shopper alone leaves the chemist's shelf unexplained.

  • “Climate and water change what a word means”

Light and non-sticky mean one thing in humid Chennai and another in dry Jaipur. Hard water changes how a shampoo feels. A persona records the city, the season and the language in which the buyer reads the pack.

What we do

What we deliver for personal care brands.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. One shopper persona for each concern your hero product answers

Each is written from review text, enquiry notes and order records: what sent the buyer searching, what they check on the label, and what they say after using it.

Result: You can say in one sentence who a new pack is for.

  2. Trade buyer personas for the chemist, kirana owner and salon owner

Each card records what the buyer checks before stocking, the margin they expect, how they treat unsold stock and what makes them order a second time.

Result: The sales visit opens with the question that buyer actually asks.

  3. A reading of your reviews and returns

Reviews, ratings and return reasons sorted into what buyers believed, what they liked and what went wrong on skin or hair.

Result: Every report of a reaction is logged against the batch and passed to the manufacturer.

  4. A map from each line on the pack to the reader of that line

Every claim and every ingredient name is matched to the persona who reads it. Doubtful words are listed for your regulatory adviser before anything is printed.

Result: No claim goes into a listing that the file cannot back.

  5. A short question sheet for calling repeat buyers and outlets

Plain questions about why the buyer returned, what they compared the product with and what nearly stopped them.

Result: The personas change when buyers say something new, and you can see why.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiry match to persona
  • Conversion rate by persona
  • Content aligned to persona

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the buyer persona work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the current view

We start with how your team currently describes the customer, since the gap between belief and reality is often the finding itself.

  2. 2

    Audit past enquiries and sales

We look at recent enquiries and closed deals to see who actually bought, not who was assumed to buy.

  3. 3

    Interview customers and staff

Short, structured conversations surface the real language, worries and triggers behind a purchase.

  4. 4

    Build the personas

Findings are written into short, usable persona documents rather than a long report.

  5. 5

    Apply to your marketing

We show exactly where each persona should change a page, an ad or a script you already have.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

How is a persona different from a customer segment?
A segment is a group in a spreadsheet, such as women in a certain age band. A persona is one believable buyer, with a concern, a shelf they shop from and a pack they distrust. It tells the writer what to say, and the segment only tells you how many there are.
We sell through distributors and never meet the shopper. Can we still build one?
Yes. Reviews, marketplace questions, the chemist's remarks and the distributor's complaint list all carry the shopper's words. We read these and record the gaps, so you know which buyer you are guessing about.
Should a persona include a skin or hair type?
Include it when the buyer states it, in reviews or in questions to the chemist. Do not assign a skin type to a buyer from a photograph or a name. Anything that sounds medical goes to your adviser before it reaches a pack or a page.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
