B2C app startups · Lead generation

Find the people who install the app and then use it, not only the people who tap an ad.

Lead generation for a B2C app is the work of getting a stranger to leave a phone number, join a waiting list or install, and then reach a first useful action. GullySales works on the sources, the sign-up path and the follow-through that turn an install into a person you can reach again.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What lead generation means

Lead generation is the combined work of every channel that brings in a new enquiry, whether from search, adverts, referrals or a stall at an exhibition. GullySales runs these channels together and reports the number of enquiries each one produced, not the activity behind it.

For B2C app startups

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “An install is not yet a lead”

The user has a download on the phone but no reason to be remembered. Until they verify a number, finish one task or opt in to messages, the startup cannot reach them again. The lead is made at the first action, so that is where the form, the OTP and the permission prompts must earn their place.

  • “Paid sources fill the top and the bottom stays empty”

A Reels ad, a Google App campaign and a creator video each bring a different kind of person. Judged by cost per install alone, the cheapest source wins and the best one is switched off. The comparison that matters is the count of people from each source who come back and act.

  • “The waiting list before launch is a lead asset”

A founder with a launch date has weeks in which a landing page, a creator mention and a college or community group can collect interested numbers. Left unused, that list is rebuilt at full ad cost after launch, with strangers instead of people who asked.

  • “Referrals are leads with a trust advantage”

A friend's invite carries a reason the ad cannot give. The reward, the share message and the landing page decide whether the invited person installs or ignores it. A reward the user does not want, such as a coupon for a product they never buy, gets a polite nothing.

What we do

What we deliver for B2C app startups.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Source map for the first users

A written list of every route a user reaches the app by: ad, store search, creator, referral, WhatsApp forward and web page. Each is given a link that records where the install came from.

Result: You can see which route each new user used.

  2. Waiting-list page and capture form

A single page that explains the app in the user's language and collects a number with consent. It sends the visitor to the correct store link on their phone.

Result: A launch list that belongs to you, with consent recorded.

  3. Sign-up path review

We go through the install, OTP and first screen as a new user on a modest Android phone and list each step that asks for more than it gives back.

Result: A short list of changes for your developers, in order of damage.

  4. Creator and community briefs

Briefs for creators, student groups and hobby communities that say what to show in the app, which link to use and what not to claim.

Result: Briefs your team can send out without rewriting them.

  5. Referral offer and share message

A reward the user actually wants, a message worded for a WhatsApp forward and a landing page for the person who receives it.

Result: A referral flow you can test with a small group first.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiries generated
  • Cost per enquiry
  • Enquiries by source

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What to capture

The moments and fields that turn an install into a lead you can reach.

A download is not yet someone you can contact. These are the points where a number, a consent or a first action gets recorded.

Verified mobile number at the OTP step
Store it with the install source. It is the key that joins ad data, usage and chats later, so a typo or a skipped step costs you the user for good.
Consent line for WhatsApp messages
Record the exact wording shown, the time and the purpose the user agreed to. Without it the team cannot tell later who may be messaged.
Install source link
A separate tracked link per ad, creator, referral and web page, written to the user record, so the cost of each route can be compared by people who return.
First task completed
The first order, payment, lesson or workout, with the date. This is the moment an install becomes a lead worth chasing, and the field that stops chasing the rest.
Preferred language
Asked once at sign-up or read from the phone settings. It decides the language of every later message and which regional creator brings the next user.
Waiting-list sign-up before launch
A number, a city and the reason for interest, collected on the landing page. These are people who asked, so they are worth keeping apart from paid installs.

Who it is for

This is written for these B2C app startups.

  • Consumer finance and payments apps
  • Health, fitness and habit apps
  • Food, grocery and quick-delivery apps
  • Learning and exam-prep apps for students
  • Local services apps for plumbers, tutors, beauty or repairs
  • Gaming and entertainment apps
  • Social and community apps built around a language or a hobby
  • Utility apps for transport, bills or government services
  • Subscription apps with a free tier and a paid upgrade

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You have no event tracking in the app yet, so no one could say which source sent a user who came back.
  • The sign-up screen asks for a number and a password before showing anything useful, and fixing that comes first.
  • There is no one to reply when a new user writes in, so more sign-ups would only leave messages unanswered.

How it works

How the lead generation work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

    Understand your capacity

We ask how many enquiries your team can answer well, who answers after hours, and what a good enquiry looks like. Without this, the system fills a funnel nobody is watching.

  2. 2

    Audit current sources

We read your call log, WhatsApp chats, enquiry sheet and platform dashboards. The baseline is recorded: enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order.

  3. 3

    Strategise the channel mix

Search and maps are chosen for people ready to buy, ads for people who are not yet looking, and content and referrals for trust.

  4. 4

    Implement capture and follow-up

Pages, forms, tags, the lead record and the first-reply message are built and tested end to end. We submit test enquiries ourselves before any media money is spent.

  5. 5

    Measure and optimise

Enquiries are traced to source and judged by what became orders, not by volume alone. Channels that fill the sheet with poor enquiries are cut back. How often you are reported to is agreed in writing.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 1, prospecting and lead generation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Should we buy installs or collect numbers first?
Collect numbers where you can, since a person who gave a number can be reached when the app launches or changes. Bought installs are tested later, one source at a time, and judged on who returns.
Can you promise a number of leads?
No. The number depends on the app, the offer and the budget. We set up the tracking so each source can be compared on the same basis, then decide with you where more money should go.
Do we need a website for this?
A single page is enough to start. It carries the store links, the waiting list form and a short explanation, and it gives search and creators a place to send people.
Why do users drop out at the OTP step?
The most common reasons are a delayed code and a screen that asks for the number before showing any value. Test the step on a modest Android phone and a weak connection, because that is where the code arrives late and the user gives up.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
