B2C app startups · Search engine optimisation

Be the answer when someone searches for what the app does, before they know its name.

SEO for a B2C app covers two searches: the one on the web, where a person describes a problem, and the one inside the Play Store and App Store, where they look for a tool. GullySales works on both, so a user with the problem finds the app and reaches the right store link.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What search engine optimisation means

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the work of getting your website to appear when a buyer searches Google for what you sell. GullySales builds pages around real search terms, fixes technical issues that block ranking, and tracks which searches actually bring enquiries.

For B2C app startups

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “People search for the problem, not the brand”

A user looking to split a bill, track a workout or prepare for an exam types the task. A new app has no name recognition yet, so the page that answers the task is the way in. A homepage that only lists features has nothing to match.

  • “The store is a search engine of its own”

Inside Google Play, the title, short description and the words in the long description feed the results. Keyword stuffing makes the page unreadable to the person deciding, so the listing has to read well first and match the searched phrase second.

  • “Web pages and deep links must lead somewhere”

A visitor from search lands on a page about a topic and taps the install button. If the link opens the wrong store page, or the app opens on its home screen rather than the thing they searched for, the visit is wasted. The handover is part of SEO.

  • “Regional language searches are a separate field”

A user searching in Hindi, Tamil or Kannada, or in English written in Roman script, meets different results from the one searching in English. An app with users in those languages that publishes only English pages is missing from the results those users see.

What we do

What we deliver for B2C app startups.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Search demand map

A list of the questions and tasks your users type, grouped by what they want to do, with the languages and spellings they use.

Result: A page plan built on how users phrase the problem.

  2. Landing pages for each use

One page per task the app solves, each with a clear answer, screenshots of the relevant screen and a store link.

Result: Pages that answer a search and send the visitor to install.

  3. Store listing keyword pass

Title, short description and long description rewritten so the searched phrases appear in sentences a person would read.

Result: A listing that reads clearly and matches the search.

  4. Deep link and install handover check

We test the path from a search result to the store to the first screen on both stores and note where the user lands.

Result: A tested path from search to the correct app screen.

  5. Technical review of the web pages

A check of page speed on a mid-range phone, indexing, titles and structured data, written up for your developers.

Result: A fix list for the site, in order of effect.

How the result is measured

  • Ranking positions
  • Organic traffic
  • Enquiries from organic search

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Searches your users type

The phrases a user types before they know an app like yours exists.

how to split a bill with friends
A task page that walks through the problem with screenshots of the app doing it, ending in a store button that opens the right listing for the visitor's phone.
app to track daily expenses in Hindi
A page written in Hindi with Hindi screens shown. The searcher types the language they use, so an English-only page never appears for them.
best free app for exam revision
A comparison-style guide that says honestly what the free tier gives and where the paid plan begins, because this searcher reads before installing.
is this app safe to link my bank account
A trust page on how the app handles money and data, written plainly and checked with your own adviser. The doubtful searcher decides on this page.
app name plus reviews
Brand searches from people who heard of you through a creator or a friend. The store listing and a short site page need to answer the doubts those searchers have.
how to pay electricity bill online
A utility-task page with the steps shown on your screens. It brings in people who have the task today and have not chosen an app yet.

Who it is for

This is written for these B2C app startups.

  • Consumer finance and payments apps
  • Health, fitness and habit apps
  • Food, grocery and quick-delivery apps
  • Learning and exam-prep apps for students
  • Local services apps for plumbers, tutors, beauty or repairs
  • Gaming and entertainment apps
  • Social and community apps built around a language or a hobby
  • Utility apps for transport, bills or government services
  • Subscription apps with a free tier and a paid upgrade

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • The app is not yet in the public store, so a visitor from search would have nowhere to install it.
  • Your deep links open the home screen, and until they open the searched task the web traffic would be wasted.
  • You expect search to fill the install target in the first weeks, when a new site has not yet built any standing.

How it works

How the search engine optimisation work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

    Audit and baseline

We record where the site stands today: positions, traffic, technical faults and the enquiries search currently produces. Nothing starts until this number is written down.

  2. 2

    Decide what to rank for

We map the searches your buyers use, in your words and theirs, and pick the ones worth the effort for your margin and your capacity.

  3. 3

    Fix the foundations

Technical faults first, because the cheapest gains are there. Then the Business Profile and directory consistency.

  4. 4

    Build the pages

A page for each thing you do, written to answer the question it is searched for, with a clear next step at the end.

  5. 5

    Publish and earn mentions

Content goes out on the calendar. Links and mentions are earned from real relationships, not bought.

  6. 6

    Measure, report, adjust

At an interval agreed in writing we report what moved and what did not, and change the plan when the numbers say so.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 1, prospecting and lead generation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Do app store pages count as SEO?
Yes, in the sense that the store ranks listings for searches. It is a separate system from web search, and the listing needs its own words, screenshots and reviews.
Will you guarantee a ranking?
No. Search results change and nobody controls them. We improve what you control, which is the pages, the listing and the handover, and we report what moved.
We have no website, only the store links. Is that a problem?
It limits what can be found. Even a few well-written pages give search something to show and give you a place to send creators and ads. We start with the tasks your users search for.
Should we write pages in regional languages?
Yes, where your users search in those languages. A Kannada or Tamil searcher sees different results from an English one, so an English page does not appear for them. Write each page in the language from the start rather than translating word for word.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
