Entertainment portals · WhatsApp marketing

Reach fans and publicists on the app they already open every day.

WhatsApp marketing for an entertainment portal covers two uses: release-alert messages and channels for fans who opted in, and direct conversations with publicists and agency planners. GullySales plans both so they stay respectful of consent and tied to the release calendar.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What WhatsApp marketing means

WhatsApp marketing is sending updates, offers and reminders to customers on the app most Indian buyers already check daily. GullySales sets up business WhatsApp, writes the message templates and keeps the list consented and current.

For entertainment portals

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Fan groups share links faster than any ad”

A trailer link or a review passes through regional film groups within hours of posting. A portal that makes its pages easy to share, with a clean preview and a correct title, gets carried along.

  • “A fan who did not ask for alerts will mute you”

Adding people to a list without consent turns a promising channel into spam. An alert should go only to someone who signed up for it, with a clear way out.

  • “Publicists answer a short message quicker than a long deck”

A planner on the move reads a two-line note with a link on the phone. The full pack follows once they show interest. Starting with the pack leaves it unopened on the phone.

  • “A business account needs a clear identity”

Fans and buyers should see who is writing and why. A named business profile with a short description makes the portal recognisable and keeps the messages from looking like a stranger's forward.

What we do

What we deliver for entertainment portals.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A release-alert opt-in

A sign-up on title pages that asks for consent to send alerts about a star or a series, with a plain way to leave.

Result: Only readers who agreed receive alerts.

  2. A shareable page preview check

A routine that tests how a title page, review or trailer looks when pasted into a chat.

Result: Shared links show the right title and image.

  3. A short publicist message set

Two-line introductions for studio, OTT, label and agency contacts, each pointing to the full pack.

Result: A sales person opens a conversation without attaching a heavy file.

  4. A business profile set-up

A named profile with a description, catalogue of formats and a reply routine.

Result: Buyers and fans can see who the portal is on first contact.

  5. A check of the platform's current rules

A note on what WhatsApp currently permits for business messaging, rechecked before each campaign.

Result: The team confirms the platform's current rules before sending.

How the result is measured

  • Messages delivered
  • Reply rate
  • Enquiries from WhatsApp

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What to capture or send

The messages a portal sends on WhatsApp, and what each one records.

Release alert opt-in
A tick box on the title page with the exact wording shown and the date stored. The alert goes only to those who ticked it.
Shareable title card
A card with the title, date and platform for a fan to forward. Test that the link preview shows the right image and headline.
Short note to a publicist
Two lines naming the title, the date and the format, with a link to the audience note. The full pitch goes by email.
Correction notice to followers
A message when a published detail changes, such as a postponed date. Keep it short and link the corrected page.
Unsubscribe reply
A saved reply confirming a stop request, with the date logged. Honour it the same day it comes in.

Who it is for

This is written for these entertainment portals.

  • Bollywood and Hindi film and TV news portals
  • South Indian film portals in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam
  • OTT and web-series review and guide sites
  • Music news and chart portals
  • Box-office and trade analysis sites
  • Celebrity, fashion and lifestyle entertainment sites
  • Regional-language entertainment apps with video
  • Fan community portals and forums around a star or a franchise

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • The reader list was gathered without consent, and a first message to it would be unsolicited.
  • Publicists have never agreed to be messaged on chat, and a pitch there would read as presumptuous.

How it works

How the whatsapp marketing work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

Read the chats you already have

We read how customers write to you, which questions repeat and where a chat goes quiet. The repeated questions decide what gets automated first.

  2. 2

Sort the list and the permission

Contacts who asked to hear from you are separated from numbers that only sit in a phone book. We agree the wording new contacts will see before they say yes.

  3. 3

Choose the app or the API

One phone and a small team can stay on the ordinary app. Several people on one number, templates or a CRM link need the API through a provider, which is its own piece of setup work.

  4. 4

Write the replies and the plan

The greeting, away message, saved replies and handover rule are written in your words and approved by you. The message plan and its templates follow.

  5. 5

    Connect the record and test

Each link carries its source line and each chat lands in the CRM. We test on real phones, including a customer who asks for a person.

  6. 6

    Read the unanswered questions

A question the first reply could not answer becomes a new saved reply or a fixed handover. Stop requests are watched too, with the number's quality rating where the API is used, since both show a message plan that has gone too far.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 0, foundation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Can we message our entire reader list?
Only readers who agreed to receive messages from you. Check the platform's current rules, and keep a record of the consent.
Is a WhatsApp channel better than a group?
It depends on whether you want a one-way broadcast or a conversation. GullySales looks at your size and your moderation capacity before suggesting one.
Can we use WhatsApp to pitch studios?
Where the contact has already messaged you there or agreed to it, yes. Otherwise start with email and move to chat once the conversation is open.
A fan group admin wants us to post in their group. Is that allowed?
Only if the admin agrees and the group's rules allow it. Groups are private spaces, and unwanted posts get you removed. Offer a shareable card the admin can post, and let the members choose to follow your channel instead.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
