Renewable energy consultants · Buyer persona

Write down who decides, who advises and who signs before drafting a single page.

A buyer persona for a renewable energy consultant describes the person who engages you and the people they consult first. GullySales builds one persona for each type of client you want more of, drawn from your past studies and your partners' memory of the first calls.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What buyer persona means

A buyer persona is a plain description of the kind of customer who actually buys from you. It includes what they search, what worries them and who else they ask before deciding. GullySales builds this from real enquiries and past sales rather than a generic template, then uses it to write every page and advert.

For renewable energy consultants

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The finance head and the plant head want different things”

The finance head looks at the power bill, the cash outlay and the audit trail. The plant head worries about uptime, space and disruption. A page written for one leaves the other unanswered, and both sit in the room when you present.

  • “The auditor is a persona, not a footnote”

Industrial owners ask their chartered accountant before anyone else. That adviser wants a note they can forward without risk, and cares that your advice is independent, sourced and unlikely to embarrass them.

  • “A developer or landowner is a different buyer altogether”

A landowner with acres and a grid question wants to know who is credible and what will be asked of them. A developer wants tender strategy and a lender-ready report. The same page cannot serve both.

  • “Lenders and boards judge the report, not you”

The person who finally reads your work may never meet you. They want assumptions stated and conclusions that follow. Knowing this changes how the sample extract and the study offer are written.

What we do

What we deliver for renewable energy consultants.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Persona for the industrial finance head

A written profile of concerns, questions asked, who they consult and what ends their search.

Result: Pages and emails answer the finance head's actual worries.

  2. Persona for the auditor or adviser

What an adviser needs in order to refer you without risk to their own standing.

Result: A referral note an adviser can send on.

  3. Persona for developers and landowners

Separate profiles for those who commission feasibility, tender or site work.

Result: Outreach that does not mix two different buyers.

  4. Persona for the lender or board reader

A profile of what a downstream reader needs from a report.

Result: Report templates and extracts built for that reader.

  5. Persona check against past clients

Each profile compared with three or four real engagements and corrected.

Result: Cards that match the people who paid.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiry match to persona
  • Conversion rate by persona
  • Content aligned to persona

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Who is asking

One power decision involves several readers, each with a different worry.

A finance head facing a tariff increase
They want to know if there is an alternative to the present supply and what it commits the company to.
A plant head responsible for uptime
They worry about reliability, downtime during installation and who maintains the plant.
A promoter considering group captive
They want to know the ownership share required and the exit terms before any discussion.
A developer preparing a bid
They need technical documents and a reviewer who has seen the tender format.
A lender's technical team
They want an independent engineer to review the plant before they release funds.
A landowner approached by a developer
They want a neutral opinion on the lease terms and what the land will be used for.

Who it is for

This is written for these renewable energy consultants.

  • Solar and hybrid feasibility consultants for factories and commercial buildings
  • Open access and group captive advisory firms
  • Wind and solar project development advisers for landowners and investors
  • Renewable tender and bid advisers for developers
  • Energy transition and net-zero advisers for corporates
  • Renewable project lenders' engineers and technical advisers
  • Policy and regulatory advisory consultants for state-level rules
  • Independent engineers who inspect and report on installed plants

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You have not yet worked with more than one type of buyer, so the descriptions would be copied from elsewhere.
  • You would use personas to write general posts, without changing the first call.
  • You cannot name which buyer pays for your first study.

How it works

How the buyer persona work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

    Understand the current view

We start with how your team currently describes the customer, since the gap between belief and reality is the finding itself.

  2. 2

    Audit past enquiries and sales

We look at recent enquiries and closed deals to see who actually bought, not who was assumed to buy.

  3. 3

    Interview customers and staff

Structured conversations with recent buyers, held as talk about the last purchase and not a questionnaire. We ask what happened before they called, who else was involved and what they compared. Customers agree before we contact them, and their answers are reported without names.

  4. 4

    Build the personas

Findings are written into short, usable persona documents rather than a long report.

  5. 5

    Apply to your marketing

We show where each persona should change a page, an ad or a script you already have. The sales team reads the drafts and says which ring true. A persona they do not recognise is rewritten.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 0, foundation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How many personas do we need?
One for each type of client you want more of, plus one for the adviser who refers. Start with those and add more only when a pattern in your enquiries demands it.
Where does the information come from?
From your own studies, the first calls and the people who referred you. We ask the partners what each buyer said at the start, then compare against your files. No outside survey is invented.
How do we find out what a finance head really worries about?
Ask people who have used you or declined you. Short calls about the decision they faced reveal the fears, such as lock-in and savings that never arrive, more than a survey does.
Does a lender count as a buyer?
Yes, for inspection and technical review work. A lender's engineer wants evidence and independence, not a pitch, so describe them apart from promoters and write them their own page.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
