Plan digital marketing around how long a member stays, not how many sign up.

Digital marketing for a subscription business is the mix of search, social, messaging and email used to win members and keep them. GullySales works on putting your spend where paying members come from and on the messages that hold them after the first charge.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What digital marketing means

Digital marketing is the combined work of search, social media, advertising and website channels running together rather than as separate projects with separate people. GullySales runs these as one connected system so a change in one channel, such as a new offer, is reflected everywhere at once.

For subscription businesses

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Cost per sign-up misleads”

A channel that brings cheap trials may bring members who leave before the second charge. The number that counts is what a member is worth over the months they stay. Judging a channel on sign-ups alone rewards the wrong one.

  • “Retention is part of marketing”

Reminders, onboarding and win-back messages are marketing, because they decide whether the money spent on acquiring the member is repaid. A plan that spends everything on adverts and nothing on renewal pays twice for the same customer.

  • “One channel is a risk for a recurring business”

A kitchen that depends on one Instagram account loses its list if the account is lost. Search, WhatsApp, email and referrals spread the risk, and a member list you hold yourself belongs to the business.

  • “Seasons move the calendar”

A cooler plan, an exam-season membership or a festival menu has its own peak. A year plan that notes these moments and the plan each rolls into prevents scrambling for a campaign at the last minute.

What we do

What we deliver for subscription businesses.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A channel review against paying members

Each channel compared by how many members it brought who were still paying later.

Result: You see which channel brings members who stay.

  2. A single plan across acquisition and retention

One document covering adverts, search, messaging and renewal messages.

Result: Acquisition and retention are planned together.

  3. A tracking set-up for sign-up to payment

Sources captured on forms and carried into your records through to the first and later payments.

Result: A payment can be traced to the source.

  4. A seasonal calendar

The year's festivals, exam periods and weather moments, each with a matching plan and campaign.

Result: Each peak has a campaign ready beforehand.

  5. A list you own

Member contacts held in your own tools, with permission recorded.

Result: Your list does not depend on one platform account.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiries across channels
  • Cost per enquiry overall
  • Channel mix by contribution

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Searches your buyers type

The searches and touchpoints that carry a subscriber from trial to the third month.

[service] free trial how it works
A trial page that states what is included, when the charge starts and how to stop. It converts the careful buyer and reduces refund requests.
[service] plan for families or for one person
Separate plan pages by who the plan is for. Searchers describe themselves, and a page that names them gets the click.
[service] reviews and member experience
A page that gathers real member comments with permission. Do not invent or edit them, and show the mix you receive.
pause my subscription
A member-help page explaining pause, skip and change. Members search for it, and finding it on your site keeps them from cancelling.
discount code for [service]
A decision about whether to appear in such searches at all. Codes draw bargain hunters, so offer one only where the member who comes stays.

Who it is for

This is written for these subscription businesses.

  • Meal plan and tiffin subscription kitchens
  • Milk, grocery and daily essentials delivery subscriptions
  • Magazine, newsletter and content membership businesses
  • Gym, studio and club memberships
  • Software and app subscriptions
  • Subscription boxes for snacks, books, pets or self-care
  • Learning memberships and coaching programmes
  • Annual maintenance and care plan providers

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You measure only the number of sign-ups, so more marketing would hide the leak after the first month.
  • You depend on one channel and have not set up the basics of tracking, so spend cannot be compared.
  • Your plan's delivery capacity is full, and more members would lower the service for those you have.

How it works

How the digital marketing work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

    Agree the one aim

We settle what the campaign must achieve, such as enquiries for a launch or footfall for an event, and the date it must be live.

  2. 2

    Check what is ready

We list the channels you already run, who runs them, and what each can produce in the time available. Anything that cannot be done properly is left out.

  3. 3

Write the idea and the message sheet

We draft the one-sentence idea, test it against each planned format, and fix the wording that all channels will copy.

  4. 4

Brief every channel from the same sheet

Your agency, freelancer or in-house person receives the message sheet and calendar. Their work is checked against the sheet before it goes out.

  5. 5

    Run on the shared calendar

Channels go live together. If the offer changes, every channel is changed on the same day from the same sheet.

  6. 6

    Measure as one campaign

Enquiries and orders are read against the baseline. The reporting schedule is agreed in writing with the scope.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 0, foundation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Where should a small budget go first?
To the source your records show brings paying members, whether a local or referral source, and to renewal messages. We check your own data before suggesting a channel.
Do we need all channels?
No. Pick the few where your buyers already are and do them well. We add a channel only when the first ones are working.
How do you report?
We report against members who paid and stayed, not only clicks. The reading is set with you at the start, and no result is promised.
How do you report to a subscription business?
By what happens to members, not only visits. We show sign-ups by source, how many paid the first invoice, how many renewed and why others left, compared with where you started. We state no result in advance, and the numbers come from your own records.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
