Bookstores · Local SEO

Be the bookshop that shows up on the map when someone nearby wants a book today.

Local SEO for a bookstore decides which shops appear on the map when a parent or student searches for books near them. GullySales works on your Google Business Profile, the stock and sections it shows, and the reviews people leave after they collect an order.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What local SEO means

Local SEO is the work of making your business show up for searches that name your town or locality, such as a service plus an area name. GullySales sets up locality pages, local citations and map listings so nearby customers find you before a competitor across town.

For bookstores

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The search is for today”

A student with an exam coming searches for the guide near them and goes to the nearest shop that shows it. A listing with no photographs and no mention of exam guides loses that student to a shop with both.

  • “The listing has to name the shelves”

A profile that says only 'Book store' tells the searcher nothing about textbooks, regional titles or second-hand stock. Services, products and description are where those words go, and they match the searches people make.

  • “Reviews mention the reply, not the paper”

A reader praises the shop that found a rare edition or held a set until Saturday. Those lines persuade the next searcher more than a high rating alone, and they are earned at the counter, not on the page.

  • “Timing follows the school calendar”

Searches rise as school reopens and as an exam nears. A shop that has not updated its hours, photographs and posts for that period meets the demand with a listing that looks forgotten.

What we do

What we deliver for bookstores.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A completed Google Business Profile

Business name, address, hours, phone and description filled in, with sections and services named in the words readers use.

Result: The listing reads as a real shop that sells the thing searched.

  2. Photographs of shelves and the counter

Pictures of the sections, the new-arrivals table and the entrance, so a first-time visitor recognises the shop from the street.

Result: A stranger knows which door to walk through.

  3. Product entries for the bestselling sets

Listings for the textbook sets and exam guides that sell, with the name and board written out.

Result: The profile shows what is in stock before anyone calls.

  4. A review ask at the billing desk

A card or message handed over when the customer collects an order, with the link ready.

Result: New reviews come from people who bought.

  5. Replies to every review

A written reply to each review, kept plain, including those about a missing title or a wait.

Result: A reader sees an owner who answers.

How the result is measured

  • Map pack ranking
  • Local search visibility
  • Enquiries by locality

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Who it is for

This is written for these bookstores.

  • Independent general bookshops in a town or neighbourhood
  • School textbook and notebook sellers
  • Academic and college bookstores near campuses
  • Competitive exam book specialists for UPSC, banking, NEET and engineering entrance
  • Children's bookshops and picture book specialists
  • Regional-language bookshops stocking Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam titles
  • Second-hand and used bookshops
  • Religious and spiritual book sellers
  • Library suppliers and institutional book vendors

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the local SEO work runs

  1. 1

    Audit every listing

We check the Google Business Profile and directory listings for every branch against what should actually be shown.

  2. 2

    Complete and correct

Profiles are filled in fully and inconsistent details are corrected across every directory found.

  3. 3

    Build location pages

Each branch gets a page written for its own area, not a copy of the head office page with the address changed.

  4. 4

    Set up review handling

A simple process for requesting and responding to reviews is put in place with whoever is closest to the customer.

  5. 5

    Report and adjust

Map actions and enquiries per branch are reported, and branches falling behind are prioritised the next month.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

Your brief

Tell us what you need, and we will read it before we call.

Eight short steps about your business, what you want and who decides. Most questions are a tap, and you can skip any you would rather answer on the call.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Does the shop need a website to rank on the map?
Not to appear. The Maps profile carries the local result on its own. A website helps when it backs up what the listing says, and we look at yours before suggesting one.
What if two branches share a name?
Each branch needs its own verified profile with its own address, hours and photographs, or the two compete. Check the platform's current rules on multiple locations before you set them up.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
