Spas · Referral marketing

A gift voucher is a referral, so treat it like one.

Referrals bring a spa its best customers, because somebody arriving on a friend's word already trusts the place. GullySales builds the ask into the visit, turns the gift voucher into a tracked introduction, and sets a reward that is worth having on both sides.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What referral marketing means

Referral marketing in a regulated practice is being the one a physician, a colleague or a former patient names, without being paid to, because paying for a referral is restricted in most of these professions. GullySales builds the ask into the moment a patient is satisfied and into the note that goes back to the referring doctor, and it never involves a fee.

For spas

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “A voucher is one customer paying to introduce another”

Somebody buys a treatment for a friend's birthday. That friend is a referred first-timer, and almost no spa follows up as though they were.

  • “The ask comes from the desk, never from the therapist”

A therapist asking a customer to bring friends damages the reason they came. The request belongs at the counter afterwards, from somebody else.

  • “Friends and couples book together, so the reward should too”

The offers that travel are the ones a customer can use with the person they are recommending you to. A couples slot moves faster than a discount code.

What we do

What we deliver for spas.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A referral ask at the counter after a good visit

A short, specific request as the customer pays, naming a friend or colleague rather than asking them to tell anyone.

Result: The customer leaves with one person in mind.

  2. Gift vouchers tracked back to the buyer

Each voucher recorded with who bought it and who redeemed it, so the redeeming customer is followed up as a referral.

Result: A birthday gift turns into a second customer.

  3. A reward both sides can use together

A discount or an added session for the referrer and the referred, structured to suit a two-person booking.

Result: The reward is worth claiming rather than forgetting.

  4. Corporate introductions through regulars who work nearby

Regulars asked whether their office would consider a wellness day, with a short note they can forward to HR.

Result: One regular opens a conversation with a whole office.

  5. Referral source recorded on every new customer

Each new booking tagged with who sent them, followed through to whether they returned and what they spent.

Result: You can see which regulars are actually bringing people.

  6. A thank-you the referrer notices

A message and the reward applied promptly whenever a referral books, rather than at the end of some scheme.

Result: The customer refers a second time because the first was acknowledged.

  7. Referred customers read against the baseline

Referrals received, how many booked, and how many came back for a second visit, measured against the baseline recorded before work started.

Result: You can tell whether referral beats paying for first-time traffic.

How the result is measured

  • Referrals received
  • Referral conversion rate
  • Cost per referred customer

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How referrals reach a spa

The best new customer is a friend who was told which therapist to ask for.

The regular customer
Ask at the desk, after payment, while she is gathering her bag. Do not ask during the treatment or from the therapist, and note the friend's name against the regular's card.
The buyer of a gift voucher
A voucher is one customer introducing another. Record who bought it and who used it, and let the buyer know the recipient came, without telling her what was booked.
The regular who works in an office nearby
Offer her a short chair massage or a package for her team, and let her choose whom to ask. The booking is hers to arrange, and you supply the therapist and the room.
The hotel concierge and the homestay host
Visitors ask the front desk for a good spa. Leave your menu, the timings and a way to book, and agree openly with the property if anything is given back, in writing.
What never to do
Never ask for a referral in the treatment room, and never use a customer's name or photograph in an offer without her yes. A friend's recommendation only works while the customer still feels private here.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the referral marketing work runs

  1. 1

Understand your margin and customer relationship

We agree what reward is genuinely sustainable and appropriate for your business and customer type.

  2. 2

    Audit existing informal referrals

We check how much word of mouth already happens, to size expectations for the formal programme realistically.

  3. 3

    Design the offer and mechanism

A specific reward and an easy sharing method are built and tested.

  4. 4

    Implement and promote

The programme is surfaced at the right moments in your customer journey.

  5. 5

    Measure and adjust

We track referrals and conversions, adjusting the reward or promotion if uptake is low.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

What reward should we offer for a referral?
Something the customer would book anyway. An added half hour on their next treatment, or a weekday session at a lower rate, beats a percentage. Keep it simple enough to explain in one sentence at the counter.
Should therapists get something for bringing in customers?
It can work, but be careful what it encourages. A small recognition for a referral that books is fine. Anything that pushes therapists to sell during a treatment costs you the calm people are paying for.
A hotel concierge wants a cut for every guest he sends. Is that normal?
It is common in hospitality, but it is a commercial arrangement between you and the hotel, not the concierge personally. Agree it with the hotel's management in writing, price it into your rate and record each guest's source.
How do we record the source when a couple books together?
Record the person who named your spa as the source, and the other as a linked booking. If both say the other brought them, choose the first who booked and be consistent. A simple note in the booking is enough.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
