Yoga and pilates studios · Referral marketing

Bring-a-friend is your best channel because nobody starts yoga alone.

Referral marketing for a studio is a member bringing the colleague who asked about her back, and an HR manager booking a corporate batch after attending one herself. GullySales gives the member something easy to forward and gives the corporate contact a class to try before the contract.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What referral marketing means

Referral marketing in a regulated practice is being the one a physician, a colleague or a former patient names, without being paid to, because paying for a referral is restricted in most of these professions. GullySales builds the ask into the moment a patient is satisfied and into the note that goes back to the referring doctor, and it never involves a fee.

For yoga and pilates studios

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The friend comes to the batch, not to the studio”

A member does not tell a friend to try her studio, she tells her to come to the 6.30 batch on Saturday. The bring-a-friend pass is for a named batch, with the friend on the mat next to her, and a trial pack offered at the door.

  • “The corporate class is a referral from one employee”

A company's wellness budget is spent by an HR manager whom three employees asked about yoga. One of them is your member. Give her a one-page note on what a workplace batch looks like, and offer one session at their office as the trial.

  • “Physiotherapists refer, and they refer to a teacher”

A physio sending a patient with a lower back complaint wants to know which teacher will take her and what she will be asked to avoid. A written note back after the first class earns the next patient.

What we do

What we deliver for yoga and pilates studios.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A bring-a-friend pass tied to a batch

A pass a member forwards on WhatsApp that books her friend into her own batch, with the friend's name recorded against the member who sent her.

Result: You know which member sent whom.

  2. A thank-you that is not a discount

A free session added to the member's pack when her friend buys, mentioned by the teacher at the mat rather than sent as a coupon code.

Result: The member is thanked in front of the batch she brought her friend to.

  3. A corporate one-pager for the member to forward

What a workplace batch involves, how many people it suits, what the room needs and how the trial session works, written for an HR manager who has never taken a class.

Result: A member can hand the idea to HR without explaining it herself.

  4. A trial session at the company's office

One session run at their premises in Whitefield or Electronic City, or a reserved batch at yours, with attendance taken and the HR contact followed up with the numbers.

Result: The corporate contract is sold on a class, not a brochure.

  5. A note back to referring physios and doctors

A short message after a referred patient's first class, saying which teacher took her and what was avoided, sent with the patient's consent.

Result: The physio sends the next patient.

How the result is measured

  • Referrals received
  • Referral conversion rate
  • Cost per referred customer

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How referrals reach a yoga studio

People come to a studio because someone they know sat on the next mat.

The member bringing a friend
Offer a pass for a friend that is tied to a batch, not to the studio at large. The friend joins the same teacher and the same hour, so the member and her friend are a pair.
The HR manager who attended a class
A corporate class begins with one employee who liked a session. Give her a one-page note to forward, and offer a trial class at the office before any contract.
The physiotherapist or doctor
A physio sends a student for mobility or strength work. Write back after the first class stating what the student attended, and ask for the physio's guidance on any movement to avoid.
The prenatal teacher and the gynaecologist
A doctor may suggest gentle movement during pregnancy. Ask for the clearance in writing before accepting a prenatal student, and teach within what the doctor has allowed.
What never to do
Never tell a referred student that yoga will cure or treat the condition the doctor sent her with, and never put a member's photograph or name in an offer without her yes. Teach within your training.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the referral marketing work runs

  1. 1

Understand your margin and customer relationship

We agree what reward is genuinely sustainable and appropriate for your business and customer type.

  2. 2

    Audit existing informal referrals

We check how much word of mouth already happens, to size expectations for the formal programme realistically.

  3. 3

    Design the offer and mechanism

A specific reward and an easy sharing method are built and tested.

  4. 4

    Implement and promote

The programme is surfaced at the right moments in your customer journey.

  5. 5

    Measure and adjust

We track referrals and conversions, adjusting the reward or promotion if uptake is low.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Should we pay members for referrals?
A free class works better than cash, because a member who brought a friend wants to be thanked, not paid. Cash makes the recommendation feel like a sale to both of them. For physios and doctors, whether they may accept anything at all is governed by their own professional rules, so ask before offering.
How do we get the corporate classes?
Through a member who works there. Ask the front desk to note where members work, and when three from one company attend, hand one of them the one-pager for HR. A cold email to a wellness team from a studio they have not heard of is rarely opened.
A member's friend has a back injury. Can she join the general batch?
Ask her to bring a note from her doctor or physiotherapist saying what movement is safe. Tell the teacher before the class and offer an adjusted route. If the note is not available, suggest a private session first and do not guess.
A teacher is leaving. What happens to the students she brought?
Students follow people they trust, so talk openly with the teacher and the batch before she goes. Agree in her contract what she may and may not tell her students, and give the batch a clear next teacher and time.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
