Sales management · Motivation and coaching
Tell each rep in writing what good looks like, then meet every week to check.
A high expectations coaching routine is a fixed weekly rhythm in which a sales manager states what is expected of each rep, meets them one to one, and records one thing coached and one win praised. This page gives the expectation statement, the coaching log and a test for whether the routine is real.
Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

In one paragraph
A high expectations coaching routine is a fixed weekly rhythm in which a sales manager states what is expected of each rep, meets them one to one, and records one thing coached and one win praised. This page gives the expectation statement, the coaching log and a test for whether the routine is real.
In a Coimbatore pump distributor, the sales manager talks to a rep only when a quotation goes cold or a payment is late. Every conversation is a complaint. The reps have learned to keep their phones face down when the manager walks past, and the owner wonders why nobody takes initiative.
The routine fixes that by making the conversation happen on a schedule and by giving it a different job. Thirty minutes per rep, once a week, same day, same place. The sales manager owns it. The owner reads the log once a month and asks only one question: is it being done.
It replaces the corridor chat and the monthly shouting match. It also sits next to the field ride form, which scores a rep on live calls, and the under-performer plan, which starts when the routine has already shown a problem. Coaching here means regular, small and mostly about the next call, not the last quarter.

If you want this done for you
Training happened once, and the habits it was meant to fix did not last the month.
The work
What this is actually like.
“Expectations written once beat expectations repeated”
A sentence like 'ten new dealer visits a week and every quotation followed up in two days' written on one page and signed by both sides stops arguments about what was agreed. Without it, every review becomes a memory contest.
“Praise needs to be as specific as criticism”
'Good job' teaches nothing. 'You asked the purchase manager who else signs, and that is why the order came' tells the rep what to repeat. Managers who coach only faults get reps who hide faults.
“The routine dies in the first busy week”
The first week with a big enquiry or a payment chase, the one-to-one gets skipped, and by the third skip it is over. Fix the slot in the manager's calendar before anything else, and move it rather than cancel it.
“Lead by example is literal”
If the manager asks reps to log every call and does not log their own, the routine becomes a rule for juniors. Take one visible habit, such as reply to enquiries the same day, and keep it yourself first.
What we do
What you end up with.
The documents this topic produces, what each one is for, and how you know it is finished.
The expectation statement
One page per rep with four to six lines: the numbers they own, the habits you expect, the standard of customer reply, and what support they will get from you. Dated and signed by both.
Result: Finished when the rep can recite their own expectations without looking at the page.
The weekly one-to-one agenda
A fixed order of five items: last week's wins, one call reviewed, one skill practised, the obstacle the manager can remove, and the rep's commitment for next week.
Result: Finished when a one-to-one runs in thirty minutes and ends with a written commitment.
The coaching log
A shared sheet with columns for date, rep, what was coached, what was praised and the follow-up due. One row per meeting, kept by the manager.
Result: Finished when you can open it and see eight consecutive weeks for every rep.
The recognition entry
A line in the team WhatsApp group each week naming one win and why it mattered, written by the manager, never by a bot or a template.
Result: Finished when each rep has been named at least once in the quarter.
Why us
Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.
Marketing and sales, as one job
Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.
The person on the first call does the work
No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.
A baseline before anything starts
Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.
The fee in writing, split three ways
Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.
No guarantees we cannot keep
The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.
