Analyst and industry ranking relations · Marketing

Walk into an analyst briefing with a story they repeat and evidence they can check.

Large Indian buyers of software and IT services check what analyst firms and industry rankings say before they shortlist. A mid-sized firm is easy to miss. Analysts see hundreds of vendors, and they remember the ones who explained a clear position with customers they could verify.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

A communications team reviewing briefing material and media references

In one paragraph

Analyst and industry ranking relations is the preparation behind briefings with technology analyst firms and submissions to industry rankings, quadrants and awards. GullySales organises your evidence, writes the briefing and submission material and keeps a record of what was asked. Inclusion in any report or ranking is decided by the analyst or jury.

The preparation is mostly unglamorous. It means an accurate description of what you sell and to whom, customer references who have agreed to speak, and answers to a questionnaire that match your website. We write and organise those, and brief your spokesperson before the call.

Analyst and ranking work is also expensive in staff time, and some programmes carry paid tiers. We say honestly when your firm is too early, and we never promise a mention, a placement or an award.

The problem

Does this sound like your business?

What owners tell us on the first call, in their words.

  • “The analyst call went badly and we do not know why”

Founders describe the company and its roadmap. Analysts want a position in a market, evidence and a customer they can phone.

  • “Every award form takes our CTO a week”

The same answers are retyped, contradict each other and are never stored, so each submission starts from nothing.

  • “We do not know which rankings matter”

Dozens of lists exist and some are pay-to-enter. Without a view of which ones your buyers read, effort goes to the wrong ones.

  • “Our website and our submission say different things”

A reviewer who compares your questionnaire with your public pages finds gaps. Positioning is not agreed across the firm.

What we do

Everything that is included.

Each deliverable, and what it gets you. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Analyst and ranking map

A short list of analyst firms, rankings and awards your buyers read, with what each requires to enter and what it costs in staff time.

  2. Firm fact base

One controlled document of verified facts about the firm, such as offers, customers, locations and certifications, for use in every submission.

  3. Briefing narrative and deck

A position statement, a short deck and a one-page summary for each analyst briefing.

  4. Reference customer programme

A list of customers, an approach for asking them, and a briefing note for each reference before they speak.

  5. Questionnaire and submission drafts

Responses to analyst questionnaires and ranking forms, written from the fact base and checked by the people who own the claims.

  6. Spokesperson preparation

A rehearsal and a list of likely hard questions, with straight answers, for the executive who takes the call.

  7. Contact log

A record of every analyst conversation, request and follow-up, kept so the next briefing builds on the last.

How the result is measured

  • Briefings held and submissions filed
  • Questions analysts asked that we could not answer
  • Reference customers ready to speak
  • Mentions in reports or rankings, as published
  • Enquiries and shortlists where a buyer cited an analyst or ranking

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Who it is for

This is written for you if these sound familiar.

  • Software product firms and SaaS companies with enterprise customers who ask whether you appear in any analyst report
  • IT services firms with a defined speciality, such as testing, data or cloud engineering, entering industry rankings for the first time
  • Firms that were shortlisted for an award or ranking once and want a repeatable way to prepare each submission
  • Companies where a briefing happened, the analyst asked for references, and nobody had them ready
  • Leadership teams who want a named person responsible for analyst contact instead of ad hoc replies

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • Your customers are small businesses who never read analyst reports. The effort buys nothing they will see
  • You cannot name a customer willing to act as a reference. Analysts and juries need verifiable evidence, and without it a submission is a formality
  • You are looking for paid placement dressed up as independent recognition. We do not recommend paying for coverage that readers can see is bought

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the work runs

  1. 1

    Understand your market position

We read your requirements brief and ask what you want to be known for, and by which buyers.

  2. 2

    Choose where to spend effort

We map the analyst firms and rankings against where your buyers look, and tell you which to skip.

  3. 3

    Build the evidence

The fact base and reference list are assembled and checked against your public pages.

  4. 4

    Prepare each briefing or submission

Narrative, deck and responses are drafted, then reviewed by the owners of each claim.

  5. 5

    Brief and submit

Your spokesperson takes the briefing or your team files the submission, and we log what was asked.

  6. 6

    Follow up and learn

We record feedback, answer follow-up questions and update the fact base for the next round.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

Engagement options

Ways to work with us.

Pick the size of commitment that fits. Every option starts with your brief and a conversation.

  1. Option 1

    The conversation on its own

A call after you send your brief. It says honestly whether you need outside help, and many fixes are ones your own team can make.

  2. Option 2

    One fix, scoped

Start with the fix that matters most, such as reply time or follow-up. The fee is in writing before anything starts.

  3. Option 3

    An ongoing programme

We run the work, report against the baseline, and you renew on the numbers. The term and the reporting are agreed in writing first.

  4. Option 4

Guidance for your own team or agency

We plan, brief and check the work of your in-house team or current agency, instead of replacing them.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Can you get us into an analyst report or ranking?
No. Analysts and juries decide inclusion on their own criteria. We prepare you so that your evidence is complete and your story is clear, and the decision stays with them.
Do analysts accept payment for good coverage?
Some firms sell advisory subscriptions or entry packages. Those are commercial relationships and are separate from independent assessment. We will not call paid coverage independent, and we advise on whether a paid programme is worth it for you.
We have no customer references yet. Should we still try?
Not yet. Collect two or three willing customers first, then approach analysts. Our reference work is where we start in that case.
Who speaks to the analyst, you or us?
Your executive speaks. Analysts want the person who owns the product and the strategy. We prepare that person and sit in the background.
What does this cost?
There is no published price. We read your requirements brief at /requirements, speak to you, then put the fee in writing, split across our time, any paid promotion and production costs. Entry fees charged by a ranking body are separate.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
