EdTech startups · WhatsApp marketing

Use WhatsApp for demo bookings and parent updates, with consent first.

WhatsApp marketing for an EdTech startup covers the enquiry replies, demo reminders and parent updates sent over the Business app or the WhatsApp Business Platform. GullySales sets up the messages, the consent record and the handover to a person.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What WhatsApp marketing means

WhatsApp marketing is sending updates, offers and reminders to customers on the app most Indian buyers already check daily. GullySales sets up business WhatsApp, writes the message templates and keeps the list consented and current.

For EdTech startups

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Parents live on WhatsApp, so the demo link should too”

A parent is more likely to tap a WhatsApp link than to open an email. The booking, the reminder and the class link all sit in one thread, which also gives you a record of the conversation.

  • “A broadcast to a parent group is not consent”

Adding parents to a group or list because they once filled a form is a poor basis. Get a clear opt-in that says what you will send, and keep the record. Check the platform's current rules and your counsel's advice.

  • “Teacher and school groups need a light touch”

Teachers share tools in WhatsApp groups. Posting promotions into such groups gets you removed. Share something useful, and invite interest instead of pushing a link every day.

  • “A child's details should not travel in a group”

Marks, attendance and learning difficulties belong in a private message to the parent, not a group. Agree this rule in writing before the team starts sending progress updates.

What we do

What we deliver for EdTech startups.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Opt-in capture

Wording and a tick on forms and QR codes that records the parent's agreement to messages and what they cover.

Result: Every number on your list has a consent record.

  2. Enquiry reply flow

An instant reply to a demo request with a short question, then handover to a person for booking.

Result: A parent hears back at once and then talks to someone.

  3. Demo reminder messages

Reminders before a class with the link and, afterwards, a prompt for the next step.

Result: Parents receive a reminder with the link in one tap.

  4. Parent update format

A template for private progress notes that avoids marks beyond what the parent agreed to receive.

Result: Updates reach the parent only, in a set shape.

  5. Account setup and rules

The business profile, catalogue, labels and a one-page team rule sheet on tone and hours.

Result: The team works from one agreed set of rules.

How the result is measured

  • Messages delivered
  • Reply rate
  • Enquiries from WhatsApp

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What to capture or send

Plan the messages for demo bookings and parent updates, each sent only to a person who agreed.

Demo class confirmation
Send the date, the link and the name of the teacher. Include the way to cancel, because a parent who cannot attend should not be left guessing.
Opt-in at the form
A line that says what the parent will receive on WhatsApp and a tick to agree. Store the tick with the date, as the proof of consent.
Update after a trial lesson
A short note on what the child covered, without marks or a ranking. It gives the parent a reason to reply and book the next class.
School pilot group for teachers
A group for the staff using the product, with one named contact from the startup. Keep it to help questions and keep parents out of it.
Reply to STOP
A fixed answer that confirms the stop and removes the number from every list. Test it each time the message list is updated.

Who it is for

This is written for these EdTech startups.

  • K-12 learning apps and platforms sold to schools
  • Direct-to-parent exam-prep and tuition apps
  • Skilling and employability startups selling to colleges and employers
  • Language learning and spoken English startups
  • Early childhood and preschool curriculum providers
  • Coding and STEM startups running classes for children
  • Test-prep startups for entrance and government exams
  • Teacher training and school improvement startups
  • Tools for tuition centres and coaching institutes

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You hold numbers of parents who never agreed to hear from you, so a campaign would reach people who may report it.
  • No one is available to read replies, so a message that invites an answer would leave the parent waiting.
  • The startup plans to message students directly, and there is no parent consent record yet to support it.

How it works

How the whatsapp marketing work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

Read the chats you already have

We read how customers write to you, which questions repeat and where a chat goes quiet. The repeated questions decide what gets automated first.

  2. 2

Sort the list and the permission

Contacts who asked to hear from you are separated from numbers that only sit in a phone book. We agree the wording new contacts will see before they say yes.

  3. 3

Choose the app or the API

One phone and a small team can stay on the ordinary app. Several people on one number, templates or a CRM link need the API through a provider, which is its own piece of setup work.

  4. 4

Write the replies and the plan

The greeting, away message, saved replies and handover rule are written in your words and approved by you. The message plan and its templates follow.

  5. 5

    Connect the record and test

Each link carries its source line and each chat lands in the CRM. We test on real phones, including a customer who asks for a person.

  6. 6

    Read the unanswered questions

A question the first reply could not answer becomes a new saved reply or a fixed handover. Stop requests are watched too, with the number's quality rating where the API is used, since both show a message plan that has gone too far.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 0, foundation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Do we need the WhatsApp Business Platform?
Not at the start. The Business app suits a small team; the Platform suits volume and automation. We recommend by your enquiry load.
Can we message students directly?
For school-age learners, message the parent. Children's contact details need consent from the parent or guardian, and rules differ, so confirm with your counsel.
What if a parent replies STOP?
Remove the number from every list at once and record it. Honouring opt-outs protects your account and the parent's trust.
May we send a parent updates about their child's progress on WhatsApp?
Send them only if the parent agreed to receive such updates and the content avoids sensitive detail such as a ranking or a low mark. A child's performance is personal to the family. Share short, factual notes and offer a call for anything that needs discussion.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
