Banks · Customer onboarding

Get a new account holder using net banking in the first week, not dormant.

Customer onboarding for a bank means the steps after account opening that get a customer actively using net banking, UPI and their debit card. A dormant account rarely generates further business. GullySales designs this sequence so a new customer becomes an active one quickly.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What customer onboarding means

Customer onboarding is what happens right after a sale closes, when a new customer is set up, trained or shown how to use what they bought. GullySales writes this sequence so a new customer's first weeks go smoothly instead of being handled differently by whoever picks up the phone.

For banks

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “A dormant account is a lost relationship, not a won one”

Opening an account is only the first step. A customer who never activates net banking or uses their debit card is at real risk of moving their banking relationship elsewhere.

  • “The first UPI transaction should be guided, not assumed”

A new customer unfamiliar with setting up UPI benefits from a short, clear walkthrough at account opening, rather than being left to figure it out and possibly giving up.

  • “NRI onboarding needs a different, more remote-friendly sequence”

An NRI opening an NRE or NRO account from abroad needs a documented, mostly remote onboarding path, since an in-branch-only process excludes this customer entirely.

What we do

What we deliver for banks.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. First-week onboarding sequence

A defined set of steps and messages for the first week after account opening, covering net banking, UPI and the debit card.

Result: A new account becomes an active one quickly.

  2. Guided UPI setup walkthrough

A short, clear walkthrough, in branch or by message, for a customer unfamiliar with setting up UPI for the first time.

Result: A first UPI transaction happens instead of being abandoned.

  3. Remote onboarding path for NRIs

A documented, mostly remote sequence for an NRI opening an NRE or NRO account from abroad.

Result: An NRI customer is onboarded without needing to be physically present.

  4. Dormancy alert and follow-up

A flag for a step, such as activating net banking, not completed within the expected window, triggering a follow-up call or message.

Result: A stalled onboarding gets a nudge before the account goes quiet.

How the result is measured

  • Onboarding completion rate
  • Time to first value
  • Early cancellation rate

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

The first-week onboarding checklist

Use this checklist for each new account holder in the first week after opening.

An account is won when the customer uses it. Give the branch one named officer, and tick each line against the customer's name.

Contact choice and language
Ask at opening whether the customer prefers WhatsApp, SMS or a call, and in which language. Record the choice and use it for every later message.
Debit card in hand and PIN set
Confirm that the card has reached the customer and that the PIN is set, and who helped. A card that sits in the drawer is the first sign of a dormant account.
Net banking and app login
Register the customer for net banking and the app at the counter and have the first login done before they leave. Check that their own mobile number is linked.
A first UPI payment
Walk the customer through one small UPI payment, such as paying a shop, and confirm the handle is linked to the account. The first guided payment builds the habit.
One safety card
Give a short card in the local language that says never to share an OTP or PIN, and where to report fraud. Do not assume the new customer already knows.
Dormancy check
If the account shows no activity by the date the branch sets, make a courteous call to ask what is stopping use. Follow the bank's rules on inactive accounts.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the customer onboarding work runs

  1. 1

    Map the current experience

A look at what actually happens for a new customer today, from signing through their first weeks.

  2. 2

    Design the journey

A clear, consistent onboarding sequence built around a defined first-success milestone.

  3. 3

    Implement and train

The sequence rolled out to whoever handles onboarding, with material and a checklist to keep it consistent.

  4. 4

    Track and refine

Time to first success and early disengagement tracked, with the process refined based on what is found.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

What does good onboarding actually look like?
A short, clear sequence of steps completed within the first week, with a follow-up call or message if a step, such as activating net banking, has not happened.
How do we measure onboarding success?
By how many new accounts show an active transaction within thirty days, which we track and report to you.
What if the customer is not comfortable with a smartphone?
Do not push the app. Offer the debit card, the passbook and branch visits, and let the customer choose when to try digital. Never take or enter their credentials, and tell family members who help not to share the PIN.
Should we send a welcome message on WhatsApp?
Only to customers who agreed to be contacted on WhatsApp. Keep it a welcome with the branch's contact details and a safety reminder, not an offer. Ask your compliance team about wording, and make it easy to opt out.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
