Locksmiths · Referral marketing
The guard at the gate decides which locksmith gets called.
A locked-out resident asks whoever is nearest before searching for anything. That is the guard, the neighbour, the shop downstairs. On the planned side it is the estate agent, the interior contractor and the car dealer. GullySales works out who those people are in your areas, how they are approached, and how a referral fee is handled without it turning up on the customer's bill.
Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What referral marketing means
Referral marketing is asking an existing customer to recommend you to someone they know, usually with a reward for both sides. It differs from a loyalty scheme because it brings in a new customer rather than a repeat purchase. GullySales builds the ask and the reward into a point where a customer is already satisfied.

For locksmiths
Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.
“The security desk is the first place anybody asks”
Before a resident opens Maps he asks the guard, and the guard has a number in his register or in his own phone. Getting your card into that register is the cheapest marketing a locksmith can do.
“Car key work comes from the trade, not from drivers”
A man with a snapped key rings the dealer, the garage or the RTO agent he used last. Those three know a dozen locksmiths and use one. None of them will ever search for you.
“If you pay a commission, price it openly”
Paying a guard or an agent is normal in this trade and there is no point pretending otherwise. Agree the amount, keep it off the customer's bill, and remember that an emergency invoice inflated to cover somebody's cut becomes a review about being cheated.
What we do
What we deliver for locksmiths.
Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.
A list of the gates, shops and desks that send work
Security desks, hardware shops, electricians and estate agents in the localities you cover, with who has your number and who has sent you a job.
Result: You know where your word of mouth actually comes from.
A card written for the register, not the pocket
Something that sits in a guard's book and stays legible: name, number, the areas you reach at night, and the three kinds of work you do.
Result: Your number is in the book when the resident asks.
An approach to the car key trade
Dealers, garages and RTO agents contacted with what you can programme and cut, what you charge them, and how fast you reach their workshop.
Result: Car key work arrives from people who see it every day.
A written commission arrangement where you pay one
The amount, when it is due, and a clear statement that the customer's price is not raised to fund it, agreed with each referrer in advance.
Result: Nobody haggles over a cut in front of the customer.
Referral source recorded on every job
One field on the job sheet asking who sent them, filled at the gate, so the guard or the agent behind a run of work can be identified.
Result: You can thank the people who are actually feeding you.
A thank you that goes out reliably
A consistent gesture for a referrer once a job is completed and paid, decided in advance so it does not depend on who is in a good mood.
Result: The people sending work keep sending it.
How the result is measured
- Referrals received
- Referral conversion rate
- Cost per referred customer
Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.
How referrals reach a locksmith
The people who send you work are the ones standing at the door when it is locked.
- The security guard and the society gate desk
- Leave a card written for the register: your name, the areas you cover and one number that is answered after dark. Guards change shifts, so give the same card to the agency supervisor and the secretary.
- The estate agent or property manager
- They hand over flats at every tenancy change and want the locks re-keyed before the new tenant moves in. Tell them what you charge for a re-key so they can quote it to the owner without calling you.
- The used car dealer and the service desk
- A dealer needs spare keys and a programmed key at sale. Visit the service manager, say which makes you can programme and which you decline, and keep their address for the next key request.
- The carpenter and the interior contractor
- A carpenter fits whatever lock the owner chose. Ask him to name you for digital lock fitting and for any drilling or frame work, and agree who handles the warranty card afterwards.
- A customer you helped late at night
- Send your number in a message once the door is open and ask who else in the building keeps a spare with the neighbours. Note the first customer's name against the new job.
- What never to do
- Never add a referrer's fee to the customer's bill or raise the visit charge to cover it. If you pay one, pay from your own margin on a rate you both agreed, so the customer sees one price.

How it works
From your first message to the first report.
No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.
First
Your brief
You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.
After the brief
A conversation and a written scope
We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.
Before work starts
Baseline recorded
The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.
After the baseline
The first fix goes live
The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.
As agreed
Report against the baseline
What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.
At renewal
Renew on the numbers
The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.
How the referral marketing work runs
- 1
Understand your margin and customer relationship
We agree what reward is genuinely sustainable and appropriate for your business and customer type.
- 2
Audit existing informal referrals
We check how much word of mouth already happens, to size expectations for the formal programme realistically.
- 3
Design the offer and mechanism
A specific reward and an easy sharing method are built and tested.
- 4
Implement and promote
The programme is surfaced at the right moments in your customer journey.
- 5
Measure and adjust
We track referrals and conversions, adjusting the reward or promotion if uptake is low.
Why us
Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.
Marketing and sales, as one job
Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.
The person on the first call does the work
No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.
A baseline before anything starts
Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.
The fee in writing, split three ways
Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.
No guarantees we cannot keep
The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.
