Hotels · Loyalty programmes
Give a repeat guest a reason to book you directly instead of an OTA.
A loyalty programme for a hotel rewards a guest or a corporate account for booking again. The reward might be a rate benefit, a room upgrade or an early check-in, given in exchange for booking direct instead of through a commissioned OTA. GullySales designs a programme sized to a single property or a small group rather than copying a large chain's scheme.
Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What loyalty programmes means
A loyalty programme is a structured reward, such as points or a discount tier, given to a customer for buying repeatedly. It differs from general retention because it is a specific scheme rather than an ad hoc check-in. GullySales designs the reward structure and the message that reminds customers it exists.

For hotels
Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.
“The reward should favour the channel you want”
A benefit offered only on direct bookings gives a guest an actual reason to skip the OTA next time, rather than a generic discount available everywhere.
“Corporate accounts need their own loyalty terms”
A company booking rooms every month responds to a volume-based benefit or a fast-billing arrangement more than to a points scheme built for leisure travellers.
“A simple punch-card version works for a single property”
A small hotel does not need a points platform, a tracked record of stays and a clear, stated benefit on the fourth or fifth visit is enough to start.
What we do
What we deliver for hotels.
Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.
Direct-booking reward structure
A rate benefit, upgrade or early check-in offered only when a guest books through your own website or number.
Result: A guest has a reason to skip the OTA next time.
Corporate account benefit terms
A volume-based rate or faster billing arrangement written for a company that books rooms regularly.
Result: A corporate account has its own reason to keep booking direct.
Simple stay-tracking record for a single property
A record of each guest's visit count, kept against phone number or email, sized for one property rather than a chain platform.
Result: The front desk knows exactly when a guest has earned the benefit.
Card and message explaining the programme
A printed card handed at checkout and a follow-up message stating what the guest earns on their next direct booking.
Result: A guest leaves knowing exactly why to book direct next time.
Direct-booking share report
A report against your baseline showing how many direct bookings came from guests already in the programme.
Result: The owner can see whether the programme is changing where guests book.
How the result is measured
- Members enrolled
- Redemption rate
- Repeat spend by members versus non-members
Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.
Which mechanic fits
The loyalty mechanics that fit a hotel, and the ones that fit a single property.
- Direct-booking perk
- Offer early check-in, a late checkout or a breakfast upgrade only to guests who book on your own number or website. It gives a reason to skip the OTA. The cost is a room-night of low demand, so give it only when occupancy allows.
- Stay count card
- Record each guest's stays against their mobile number and give a benefit on the fourth visit. Suits business travellers on a fixed route. The risk is a front desk that forgets to look the guest up at check-in.
- Corporate rate agreement
- For a company that books rooms regularly, a written rate with a billing arrangement beats points. Put the end date in your diary and call the company before it lapses, not after.
- Wedding and banquet referral credit
- A family that held an event with you can earn a credit when they refer another family's event, adjusted against their bill. Keep it a written, one-off arrangement, not an open offer.
- Weekday staycation credit
- Give past guests a credit for a Tuesday or Wednesday stay. It fills the rooms that earn nothing now. Make the dates clear so the credit cannot be used on a festival weekend.
- When not to run one
- A hotel on a one-time pilgrim or transit route has few repeat guests. Spend the effort on your listing and a prompt reply instead, and give your regular corporate travellers a rate agreement and nothing more.
Who it is for
This is written for these hotels.
- Business and transit hotels
- Boutique and heritage properties
- Resort and destination hotels
- Budget and mid-market chains
- Banquet and wedding-focused properties
- Serviced apartments and long-stay properties
Not for
It is not the right fit if.
- Your direct bookings are so few that no guest would reach a second stay under the rules, so a reward would never be claimed
- You cannot honour a perk at the desk because the staff change rooms and rates without a record, and a broken promise costs more than none
- You have a rate-parity agreement with an OTA that you have not read, and a direct-only perk could breach it
How it works
How the loyalty programmes work runs
The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.
- 1
Read your repeat-purchase records
Billing data, or a sample of bills if there is no system, to see who returns, how frequently and how large a bill they bring. This sets what a reward can afford to be.
- 2
Cost the reward against margin
Several reward levels are worked through on your own margin and your busiest sale periods. You pick the one you can honour in a bad month.
- 3
Write the rules and the script
The rulebook, the enrolment sentence, the consent wording and the staff controls, agreed with whoever runs the counter.
- 4
Set up and rehearse
Your billing software, a spreadsheet or a loyalty tool is configured for the chosen mechanic. Staff practise enrolment and redemption on real bills before any customer sees it.
- 5
Launch to existing regulars first
Your best customers are invited personally, by call or WhatsApp, before the scheme is announced to everyone.
- 6
Review use and cost
Enrolment, redemption and the cost of rewards are read against the baseline recorded before launch. The rules are adjusted where staff or customers are working around them.
Proof
What happened when owners fixed this.
Real clients, the work we did, and the result as it was recorded. Where no number was recorded, none is claimed.

Where this fits
Three pieces of sales work, in this order.
This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 7, after the sale. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.
