Steel traders · Lead generation

Bring in fabricators and builders who buy the sections your yard holds.

Lead generation for a steel trader means putting your stock in front of the workshops, contractors and factories that buy those exact sections. It is a different job from collecting every rate enquiry that comes in. GullySales works on the pages, the enquiry routes and the register that turn a section search into a named buyer.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

Steel mills: show a real physical business scene illustrating Enquiries, quotations and orders. Log each enquiry by grade, section and tonnage, quote from your own price list, and commit orders only to dispatch slots the mill can meet.

What lead generation means

Lead generation is the combined work of every channel that brings in a new enquiry, whether from search, adverts, referrals or a stall at an exhibition. GullySales runs these channels together and reports the number of enquiries each one produced, not the activity behind it.

For steel traders

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “A rate enquiry is not yet a lead”

A caller who asks only for today's rate on angles may be pricing four yards. A lead is the workshop that tells you its sections, its site and its credit need. The first call should collect those three things before the rate is quoted, so the number goes to a known buyer.

  • “Marketplace enquiries and search enquiries behave differently”

An enquiry from a marketplace arrives with a quantity and a city, and the buyer has sent it to several sellers. A buyer who finds your own page has already read your stock list and mills. Treat the two sources separately, or you will not learn which one brings the buyers who return.

  • “Large buyers come by invitation, not by search”

A PEB maker or an engineering unit adds traders to its RFQ list after seeing a broad stock, clean paperwork and past deliveries. Lead generation for these accounts means being easy to vet: a stock list, the mills you buy from and a contact who answers.

  • “Retail shops in nearby towns are a lead source of their own”

A shop that restocks from a stockyard buys across a spread of sections and reorders on a rhythm. These buyers rarely search online. They respond to a visit, a rate sheet and a name to call at the yard.

What we do

What we deliver for steel traders.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Section-wise enquiry pages

Pages for TMT bars, angles, channels, plates, pipes and coils, each with sizes, grades and mills, and a form that asks for section, quantity and delivery town.

Result: Every enquiry arrives with the section and town already filled in.

  2. A source field on every enquiry

A single register where each lead is tagged as marketplace, search, referral, walk-in or call, with the section asked for.

Result: The owner can count enquiries by source and see which ones turned into orders.

  3. A first-call question set

Three questions for the salesperson to ask before quoting: what sections, which site, what credit period.

Result: Each new buyer record starts with sections, site and credit need.

  4. A vetting pack for RFQ buyers

A stock list, mill names and a short company note, kept ready to attach to any invitation to quote.

Result: A buyer asking for your details gets one complete pack in one message.

  5. A retail-shop outreach list

A list of steel shops in the towns around your yard, with the sections each restocks and the last visit.

Result: The salesperson visits with a rate sheet and a record of the previous call.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiries generated
  • Cost per enquiry
  • Enquiries by source

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What to capture

A rate call becomes a lead once these facts are written against it.

Section, size and grade
MS angle 50x50, TMT 12 mm or HR coil by grade, noted by whoever takes the call, so the quote is for stock the yard holds and not a guess.
Quantity in tonnes and delivery town
The weight and the site or workshop address, which decides whether the load is a truck, a part load or a pick-up from the yard.
Mill preference or test certificate need
Whether the buyer wants a named mill or a test certificate, recorded because it separates a buyer who will order from one only shopping a rate.
Source of the enquiry
IndiaMART, a search, a referral or a walk-in, kept on the register so you see which source brings buyers who weigh and pay.
Payment terms asked for
Cash, advance or credit sought by the buyer, entered at the first call so the owner can decide before the quote is sent.

Who it is for

This is written for these steel traders.

  • Fabricators and engineering workshops
  • Builders and contractors buying TMT bars and structural sections
  • PEB and structural steel companies
  • Re-rollers and small manufacturers who buy coils and billets
  • Pipe and tube users in water, plumbing and agriculture projects
  • Vehicle body builders and trailer makers
  • Machine shops that buy plates and rounds
  • Retail steel shops in towns that restock from your stockyard

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • Your stock list is not current, so more enquiries would meet quotes for sections the yard no longer holds.
  • Nobody at the yard can take a call and write it down, so a lead source would add to unrecorded rate requests.

How it works

How the lead generation work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

    Understand your capacity

We ask how many enquiries your team can answer well, who answers after hours, and what a good enquiry looks like. Without this, the system fills a funnel nobody is watching.

  2. 2

    Audit current sources

We read your call log, WhatsApp chats, enquiry sheet and platform dashboards. The baseline is recorded: enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order.

  3. 3

    Strategise the channel mix

Search and maps are chosen for people ready to buy, ads for people who are not yet looking, and content and referrals for trust.

  4. 4

    Implement capture and follow-up

Pages, forms, tags, the lead record and the first-reply message are built and tested end to end. We submit test enquiries ourselves before any media money is spent.

  5. 5

    Measure and optimise

Enquiries are traced to source and judged by what became orders, not by volume alone. Channels that fill the sheet with poor enquiries are cut back. How often you are reported to is agreed in writing.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 1, prospecting and lead generation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Should we buy leads or build our own pages?
Both can sit side by side. Bought or marketplace leads fill the register with buyers who are also asking others. Your own pages bring buyers who have read your stock first. GullySales sets up the register so you can compare what each source gives you.
How do we avoid time lost on buyers who never order?
Ask for the section, the quantity and the site before sending the rate, and record the answers. A buyer who will not say what they need is marked cold. The register shows over time which sources fill it with such names.
Do we answer every IndiaMART enquiry?
Answer each, but reply first to those with a section, size and quantity filled in. An enquiry that says only send rates is likely a rate check. Ask two questions on the first call, quantity and delivery town, then decide how much time the quote deserves.
Can a builder's site engineer be a lead?
Yes, but the person who orders is the contractor's purchase head. Ask the site engineer who places the order and what the site needs by date. Record both names. Quotes sent only to the engineer stall when the purchase head compares them.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
