Steel traders · WhatsApp marketing

Send rate and stock messages on WhatsApp to the buyers who asked for them.

WhatsApp marketing for a steel trader means using the app buyers already use to send rates, stock updates and quotes to people who agreed to receive them. Steel is bought by phone and chat, so this is where the order is won. GullySales works on the lists, the message layout and the permission record.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

Steel mills: show a real physical business scene illustrating Enquiries, quotations and orders. Log each enquiry by grade, section and tonnage, quote from your own price list, and commit orders only to dispatch slots the mill can meet.

What WhatsApp marketing means

WhatsApp marketing is sending updates, offers and reminders to customers on the app most Indian buyers already check daily. GullySales sets up business WhatsApp, writes the message templates and keeps the list consented and current.

For steel traders

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The rate lives on WhatsApp already”

Fabricators and contractors ask for the rate on a chat and compare it across yards. A message in a fixed layout, with grade, size, mill and town, is easier to compare and trust than a loose line.

  • “A list needs permission and groups”

Add only buyers who have asked for rates, and record how they agreed. Group the list by product so a TMT buyer does not receive plate rates. A broadcast that fits the buyer is read.

  • “Quotes sent on chat need a record”

A quote sent on WhatsApp is a commitment. Copy it into the register with section, quantity, rate and date. Otherwise the yard cannot answer the buyer who says the rate was lower.

  • “Documents travel on chat too”

Buyers ask for the test certificate, the weighment slip or the invoice on the same thread. Keep a clear way to send them, and a named person who does, so the chat does not become a hunt through a phone.

What we do

What we deliver for steel traders.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A broadcast list by product

Buyers grouped by the sections they buy, with a note on how each agreed to receive messages.

Result: Each broadcast goes only to buyers interested in that product.

  2. A fixed rate-message layout

One layout with grade, size, mill, town and validity wording in the same places.

Result: Every rate message reads the same.

  3. A quote-to-register routine

A step where each quote sent on chat is logged against the buyer.

Result: Quotes sent on chat appear in the buyer record.

  4. A business account set-up

A WhatsApp Business profile with the yard's name, address, hours and catalogue of sections.

Result: A new buyer sees a proper yard profile.

  5. An opt-out and permission note

A simple rule for adding and removing numbers.

Result: Anyone who asks to stop is removed and recorded.

How the result is measured

  • Messages delivered
  • Reply rate
  • Enquiries from WhatsApp

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What to capture or send

Send these on WhatsApp to buyers who asked, and keep records of quotes.

Stock arrived
A short message naming the section, size and mill that came in, sent only to buyers who asked for that product.
Rate message
A fixed layout with the date, the section, the rate and its validity, sent by the salesman and copied into the register.
Weighment slip photograph
The slip image sent to the buyer at loading, saved against the invoice to settle any later weight dispute.
Delivery on the way
A note with the truck number and driver contact, so the workshop can have a gate and a crane ready.
Permission to send updates
A reply from the buyer agreeing to product messages, saved with the products chosen, so the list is by product.

Who it is for

This is written for these steel traders.

  • Fabricators and engineering workshops
  • Builders and contractors buying TMT bars and structural sections
  • PEB and structural steel companies
  • Re-rollers and small manufacturers who buy coils and billets
  • Pipe and tube users in water, plumbing and agriculture projects
  • Vehicle body builders and trailer makers
  • Machine shops that buy plates and rounds
  • Retail steel shops in towns that restock from your stockyard

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • Buyers did not ask for rate messages, so a list built from your phone contacts would draw complaints.
  • Salesmen quote on personal numbers and the owner has no copy, so a business account would not capture those quotes.

How it works

How the whatsapp marketing work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

Read the chats you already have

We read how customers write to you, which questions repeat and where a chat goes quiet. The repeated questions decide what gets automated first.

  2. 2

Sort the list and the permission

Contacts who asked to hear from you are separated from numbers that only sit in a phone book. We agree the wording new contacts will see before they say yes.

  3. 3

Choose the app or the API

One phone and a small team can stay on the ordinary app. Several people on one number, templates or a CRM link need the API through a provider, which is its own piece of setup work.

  4. 4

Write the replies and the plan

The greeting, away message, saved replies and handover rule are written in your words and approved by you. The message plan and its templates follow.

  5. 5

    Connect the record and test

Each link carries its source line and each chat lands in the CRM. We test on real phones, including a customer who asks for a person.

  6. 6

    Read the unanswered questions

A question the first reply could not answer becomes a new saved reply or a fixed handover. Stop requests are watched too, with the number's quality rating where the API is used, since both show a message plan that has gone too far.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 0, foundation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Can we send rates to everyone in our phone?
No. Message only people who agreed to receive them, and check the platform's current rules on business messaging. A list built on permission is smaller but more read, and avoids complaints.
Should the yard use the free business app or a paid service?
Start with the free business app while the list is small. A paid service helps when several people answer from one number and you need a record. Check the platform's current terms before you choose.
Is a rate on WhatsApp binding?
Treat it as an offer for the stated validity. A buyer can show the message as proof of the rate, so an error is yours. Use one fixed layout with the date and time the rate holds, and withdraw a quote in writing if the market moves.
Should buyer groups be allowed?
Avoid a group with many buyers, since each sees the others' numbers and questions and may compare rates in public. Use a broadcast list or one-to-one chats, and keep a group only for one project where all members are on the same site.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
