OTT content studios · WhatsApp marketing

Use WhatsApp to share a pitch note without losing the record of the reply.

WhatsApp marketing for an OTT content studio is the careful use of messaging to share a short note, a sample link or a meeting confirmation with people who already know the studio. GullySales works on message wording, lists of consenting contacts and how conversations are copied into the pitch record.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What WhatsApp marketing means

WhatsApp marketing is sending updates, offers and reminders to customers on the app most Indian buyers already check daily. GullySales sets up business WhatsApp, writes the message templates and keeps the list consented and current.

For OTT content studios

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Replies arrive in chat, then the thread vanishes”

Executives, agencies and aggregators answer in chat as readily as by email. The reply sits on one phone and is lost when a device changes. Saving the key lines into the record turns a chat into a history.

  • “A cold message in chat is intrusive”

A first approach to an unknown executive belongs in email or through an introduction. Chat suits a contact who has already replied or shared a number. A written rule on who may be messaged protects the studio's name.

  • “Scripts do not belong in attachments”

Scripts and bibles sent as attachments are forwarded, copied and saved without control. A link to a controlled file with a short note keeps the studio's rights in view and, where the tool allows, shows who opened it.

  • “Fans and crew are a different list”

Cast, crew and audience groups need different messages from commissioners. Mixing them leaks news early. Separate lists keep a casting call from reaching a platform contact and a platform note from reaching the audience.

What we do

What we deliver for OTT content studios.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Contact rules

Who may be messaged, on what terms and for what purpose, with consent recorded.

Result: A written rule your team can check.

  2. Message templates

Short notes for sharing a link, confirming a meeting and thanking someone after a call.

Result: Templates in your own voice.

  3. Business account set-up

A WhatsApp Business profile with studio name, description and a catalogue of series.

Result: A profile a contact can check before replying.

  4. Broadcast list structure

Separate lists for platform contacts, brands, crew and audience, each with a purpose.

Result: Every list carrying a named purpose.

  5. Chat-to-record habit

A step to log decisions and promises from chat into the CRM.

Result: Chat decisions visible in the pitch record.

How the result is measured

  • Messages delivered
  • Reply rate
  • Enquiries from WhatsApp

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What to capture or send

The short messages worth sending on WhatsApp, and what to save from the replies.

Meeting confirmation
The date, place and attendees, sent only to a contact who has already used WhatsApp with the studio.
Link to a controlled file
A short note with a link to the bible or sample, never the file itself, so access can be withdrawn.
Thank-you after a meeting
Two lines naming what was discussed and what the studio will send next.
Crew and cast notices
A separate list with its own consent, kept apart from commissioners, for schedules and call sheets.
Release notice
A message to consenting contacts when a series goes live, with the platform's link.
Chat saved to the record
A habit of copying the key line into the pitch record, so an exchange does not vanish with the phone.

Who it is for

This is written for these OTT content studios.

  • Studios producing scripted web series for national platforms
  • Regional-language originals studios
  • Short-form and micro-drama studios
  • Documentary and true-crime series producers
  • Studios that run their own channels or apps
  • Branded-series studios working with consumer brands
  • Studios licensing finished catalogue to platforms

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • The contact has never used WhatsApp with the studio, and a first message there would feel intrusive
  • Your agreements limit how project material is shared, and chat would break those terms
  • The studio has no business number apart from a producer's personal phone, so the record would leave with the person

How it works

How the whatsapp marketing work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

Read the chats you already have

We read how customers write to you, which questions repeat and where a chat goes quiet. The repeated questions decide what gets automated first.

  2. 2

Sort the list and the permission

Contacts who asked to hear from you are separated from numbers that only sit in a phone book. We agree the wording new contacts will see before they say yes.

  3. 3

Choose the app or the API

One phone and a small team can stay on the ordinary app. Several people on one number, templates or a CRM link need the API through a provider, which is its own piece of setup work.

  4. 4

Write the replies and the plan

The greeting, away message, saved replies and handover rule are written in your words and approved by you. The message plan and its templates follow.

  5. 5

    Connect the record and test

Each link carries its source line and each chat lands in the CRM. We test on real phones, including a customer who asks for a person.

  6. 6

    Read the unanswered questions

A question the first reply could not answer becomes a new saved reply or a fixed handover. Stop requests are watched too, with the number's quality rating where the API is used, since both show a message plan that has gone too far.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 0, foundation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Can we send our scripts through WhatsApp?
We advise sending a link to a controlled file with a short note, because chat attachments are copied and forwarded. Your agreements with platforms may also limit how scripts are shared, so check them first.
Is bulk messaging allowed?
Consent expectations and messaging rules apply, and they change. Check the platform's current rules, and ask your own adviser about consent, before any broadcast goes out.
Should crew and fans be on the same list as platform contacts?
No. Platform contacts want short, rare notes about work. Crew need schedules, and fans want release news. Mixing them sends the wrong message to each. Keep separate lists, each with its own consent record.
What do we do if a platform contact replies with a voice note?
Write a line of text summarising it, save it in the pitch record and confirm it back to the contact. Voice notes carry decisions that no one can search later. A confirmed written line also protects the studio if a term is disputed.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.

Eight short steps, mostly taps. Skip anything you would rather answer on the call.
