Management consulting firms · Search engine optimisation

Be the firm a CEO finds after typing the problem, not only after hearing a name.

SEO for a consulting firm is the work of making the website answer the searches a CEO, CFO or banker makes when checking a firm, including the problem searches and the partner-name searches. GullySales works on the pages, titles and structure that let those searches reach your partners.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What search engine optimisation means

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the work of getting your website to appear when a buyer searches Google for what you sell. GullySales builds pages around real search terms, fixes technical issues that block ranking, and tracks which searches actually bring enquiries.

For management consulting firms

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The first search is a partner's name”

After a referral, the buyer types the partner's name and the firm's name together. If the result is a thin profile or an old directory listing, the introduction loses ground before the call. Partner pages are the most valuable search pages a consulting firm owns.

  • “Buyers search the problem, not the discipline”

A promoter does not type management consulting. They type something like cost reduction for a textile mill or ownership transition in a family company. Pages named for the problem and the sector can match that search, where a generic services page cannot.

  • “Large firms win the general terms”

Competing for broad phrases against global names is a poor use of a small firm's pages. A sector and problem combination where the firm has real experience is a smaller field in which a specialist reads as credible.

  • “Confidential work leaves thin pages”

When every case is hidden, the site has little to read, and search engines have little to match. Problem write-ups, method explanations and partner notes give the site substance that no client agreement restricts.

What we do

What we deliver for management consulting firms.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A partner page audit

Each partner's page checked for name, role, sectors, problems worked on and linked writing.

Result: A search for each partner name leads to a page that explains what the person does.

  2. Problem and sector pages

Pages that pair one sector with one problem the firm has worked on, with the approach described in plain terms.

Result: Each page is titled with words a CEO would type.

  3. Title and heading clean-up

Page titles and headings rewritten so they name the service and the sector instead of the firm's slogan.

Result: The search result for each page says what the page is about.

  4. Technical basics

Site speed, mobile layout, page addresses and indexing checked and fixed where they hold pages back.

Result: The pages that matter can be read and indexed on a phone.

  5. A search report from Google Search Console

Queries, pages and clicks recorded against the starting position, read by partner and by problem page.

Result: The partners read which searches reach the site and which pages answer them.

How the result is measured

  • Ranking positions
  • Organic traffic
  • Enquiries from organic search

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

How the search engine optimisation work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

    Audit and baseline

We record where the site stands today: positions, traffic, technical faults and the enquiries search currently produces. Nothing starts until this number is written down.

  2. 2

    Decide what to rank for

We map the searches your buyers use, in your words and theirs, and pick the ones worth the effort for your margin and your capacity.

  3. 3

    Fix the foundations

Technical faults first, because the cheapest gains are usually there. Then the Business Profile and directory consistency.

  4. 4

    Build the pages

A page for each thing you do, written to answer the question it is searched for, with a clear next step at the end.

  5. 5

    Publish and earn mentions

Content goes out on the calendar. Links and mentions are earned from real relationships, not bought.

  6. 6

    Measure, report, adjust

At the interval agreed at the start we report what moved and what did not, and change the plan when the numbers say so.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 1, prospecting and lead generation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

Can a small consulting firm rank for anything useful?
Search position is never ours to promise. What a small firm can do is be clear and specific on problems it knows, which is the material a search engine matches to a specific query.
Do we need a blog for SEO?
You need pages that answer the questions your buyers ask. Some of those are articles, some are problem pages and partner pages. A blog without a point of view adds nothing, so we start from the problems.
How will we know SEO is bringing enquiries?
The enquiry form and the lead sheet ask how the buyer found you. Search entries are compared with the starting record, so the partners see conversations, not only visits.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
