Ecommerce and D2C brands · WhatsApp marketing

Confirm the order, answer the question and bring the buyer back on WhatsApp.

WhatsApp marketing for a D2C brand means using the app Indian shoppers already check for order updates, cash on delivery confirmation, support and reorder prompts. GullySales sets up the consent, templates and reply routes on WhatsApp Business so the channel serves the customer first.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

WhatsApp marketing is sending updates, offers and reminders to customers on the app most Indian buyers already check daily. GullySales sets up business WhatsApp, writes the message templates and keeps the list consented and current.

For ecommerce and D2C brands

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Cash on delivery orders need a confirmation, not a hope”

A buyer who chose to pay at the door may have ordered on impulse. A short WhatsApp message asking to confirm the address and order gives the brand a chance to catch a wrong pincode or a change of mind before the parcel ships.

  • “Shoppers ask on chat what they will not type into a form”

Is this shade right for my skin? Will the kurta shrink? Does this fit a small flat? These are the questions that stand between a visit and an order. A reply on WhatsApp in a human voice closes them better than a contact form that nobody opens.

  • “Broadcasts to a bought list damage the number”

Adding people who never agreed leads to blocks and reports, and the platform may restrict the number. Consent has to be collected at checkout, on the product page or on a card in the box, with a clear opt-out.

  • “An automated reply that cannot hand over to a person fails”

A bot that answers order status is useful. A bot that traps a buyer with a damaged parcel is not. The route to a named person for returns, damage and complaints has to exist before any automation goes live.

What we do

What we deliver for ecommerce and D2C brands.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. WhatsApp Business setup

A verified business profile, catalogue where it fits, greeting, away message and quick replies for the questions you hear most.

Result: A new chat receives a clear greeting and an answer route.

  2. Consent capture

Opt-in wording at checkout, on the site and in the parcel, with a record of when and where each buyer agreed.

Result: Every number on the list has a recorded source.

  3. Order and delivery message templates

Order confirmed, cash on delivery check, shipped, out for delivery and delivered, written for the platform's template approval.

Result: Each order stage has a submitted template.

  4. Cart and reorder prompts

A recovery message for carts and a reorder message set to each product's use cycle, sent only to buyers who agreed.

Result: The prompts reach opted-in buyers and stop once they order.

  5. Reply guide and hand-over rules

Written answers for common questions and the point where a chat passes to a named person.

Result: A new team member can answer in the brand's voice.

  6. Number health checks

Review of blocks, reports and opt-outs against the messages that caused them.

Result: You can see which message drew complaints and change it.

How the result is measured

  • Messages delivered
  • Reply rate
  • Enquiries from WhatsApp

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What to capture or send

The messages a D2C brand sends on WhatsApp, and what each must carry.

Cash on delivery confirmation
Order contents, address and a one-tap confirm. It removes wrong addresses and refusals before the parcel leaves.
Shipped with tracking link
The courier name and a link, sent when the parcel is handed over. It cuts the where-is-my-order questions at the source.
Out for delivery
A short note with a contact number for the delivery person. The buyer is then home to receive it.
Question about size, shade or fit
A saved reply with the chart or photograph. Shoppers ask on chat what they will not type into a form.
Reorder prompt
Sent only to buyers who agreed, timed to the product's own use cycle. Check the platform's current rules on templates before sending.

Who it is for

This is written for these ecommerce and D2C brands.

  • Single-product and founder-led D2C brands
  • Apparel, footwear and accessories brands
  • Beauty, skincare and personal care brands
  • Supplements, food and beverage brands
  • Home goods, furniture and higher-value considered purchases
  • Subscription and replenishment brands
  • Brands selling on Amazon and their own Shopify store
  • Wholesale-first brands building a direct channel
  • Brands past their first million with no in-house marketing team

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • Your customer numbers came from a purchased list, so a first broadcast would be reported and the number restricted
  • No one can answer a chat on the same day, so an open line would show buyers a brand that does not reply

How it works

How the whatsapp marketing work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

Read the chats you already have

We read how customers write to you, which questions repeat and where a chat goes quiet. The repeated questions decide what gets automated first.

  2. 2

Sort the list and the permission

Contacts who asked to hear from you are separated from numbers that only sit in a phone book. We agree the wording new contacts will see before they say yes.

  3. 3

Choose the app or the API

One phone and a small team can stay on the ordinary app. Several people on one number, templates or a CRM link need the API through a provider, which is its own piece of setup work.

  4. 4

Write the replies and the plan

The greeting, away message, saved replies and handover rule are written in your words and approved by you. The message plan and its templates follow.

  5. 5

    Connect the record and test

Each link carries its source line and each chat lands in the CRM. We test on real phones, including a customer who asks for a person.

  6. 6

    Read the unanswered questions

A question the first reply could not answer becomes a new saved reply or a fixed handover. Stop requests are watched too, with the number's quality rating where the API is used, since both show a message plan that has gone too far.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 0, foundation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Can we message everyone in our customer file?
Only those who agreed to hear from you on WhatsApp. Check the platform's current rules and Indian data rules for your case. We help you collect consent from now on, and treat the older file with care.
Do we need the WhatsApp Business app or the API?
A small team may begin with the Business app. Higher volumes, templates sent at scale and tool connections need the Business Platform through a provider. We compare the options against your order volume and say which fits.
Will WhatsApp replace email for us?
No. Email carries longer content and wider reach; WhatsApp carries short, timely messages and conversation. We decide the split by purpose: what the buyer needs now goes on WhatsApp, and the rest stays in email.
Can we message buyers whose numbers we got at checkout?
Only if they agreed to receive messages, and the agreement is recorded. A number given for delivery is not a number given for promotion. Add opt-in wording at checkout and keep the date, then check the platform's current rules before sending any promotion.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
