Yoga and pilates studios · Public relations

Get featured for the wellness expertise the studio actually has.

Public relations for a yoga or pilates studio means earning local coverage, such as a feature on an instructor's specialism. GullySales pitches these stories to build credibility a paid advertisement cannot.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What public relations means

Public relations is getting your business covered by journalists, trade publications or local news, which carries more trust than an advert because a third party is saying it. GullySales pitches your story to the right publications and prepares your team for interviews when coverage is offered.

For yoga and pilates studios

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Instructor expertise makes a strong press angle”

A feature on an instructor's specific specialism, such as prenatal yoga, reads as more newsworthy than a general profile.

  • “Community events earn coverage naturally”

A free community class or a wellness workshop is a natural press angle that a routine promotion is not.

  • “Health and wellness publications are realistic targets”

Local lifestyle and health publications regularly feature studios with a specific, interesting angle.

What we do

What we deliver for yoga and pilates studios.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Instructor expertise press pitch

A written pitch positioning an instructor's particular specialism, such as prenatal yoga, for a local feature.

Result: The studio gains coverage a paid advertisement cannot buy.

  2. Community event press outreach

An announcement pitched to local publications ahead of a free community class or wellness workshop.

Result: The event reaches people who read local coverage, not only social media.

  3. Wellness publication media list

A list of local lifestyle and health publications realistic for a studio this size, with a named contact for each.

Result: The wellness columnist who already writes about studios gets the pitch, not a general newsdesk.

  4. Press mention republishing

Past coverage collected and displayed on the website and social profiles.

Result: A visiting student sees the studio recognised beyond its own marketing.

  5. Milestone and anniversary pitch

A pitch built around a studio milestone, such as an anniversary or a notable new instructor joining.

Result: The studio has a reason for coverage beyond routine promotion.

How the result is measured

  • Coverage secured
  • Publication reach
  • Enquiries after coverage

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What is worth telling the press

What a wellness writer can take from a yoga or pilates studio.

A bio for each teacher
Write a short bio with the lineage, training school and years of teaching, only as true. Pitch a teacher on one theme, such as yoga for desk workers.
International Yoga Day
Plan a community session in a park or housing society and tell the local paper the venue and time. It is the one date every desk plans around.
A teacher training course, stated clearly
If the studio runs a teacher training course, name the affiliating body or lineage and the syllabus. Be clear about what the certificate is.
A prenatal or senior class
A class for pregnant women or seniors with a trained teacher is a story. Say students should consult their doctor first and avoid health claims.
An event with a purpose
A sunrise session at a lake or a fundraiser class for a school earns a photograph. Get consent from students in the picture.
A how-to a magazine can print
Wellness magazines and newsletters want a short morning sequence they can print. Offer one with clear photographs and a note on who should check with a doctor.

Who it is for

This is written for these yoga and pilates studios.

  • Hatha and traditional yoga studios
  • Power yoga and fitness-focused studios
  • Reformer and mat pilates studios
  • Prenatal and postnatal yoga specialists
  • Corporate wellness and workplace yoga providers
  • Yoga teacher training institutes
  • Hybrid online and in-studio yoga platforms
  • Multi-branch yoga and pilates chains

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • The studio has nothing new to say about its teachers or classes, so a press note would repeat what is already online.
  • You expect a feature to bring members at once, which press coverage does not promise.

How it works

How the public relations work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

    Understand what is newsworthy

We interview you and read your records to find stories with facts behind them. Manufactured news rarely earns real coverage.

  2. 2

    Audit relevant press

We list the journalists and publications that cover your industry or town, in English and in the languages your buyers read.

  3. 3

    Prepare the pitch

Each pitch is written for one journalist and one angle. Releases carry the facts a desk needs to check.

  4. 4

    Approach and follow up

Journalists are approached directly. One follow-up goes out, and answers to their questions go back the same day.

  5. 5

    Record and prepare ahead

Coverage goes into the log, and the holding statements are kept current for any matter that may need a public reply.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 1, prospecting and lead generation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Is PR realistic for a small studio?
Yes, hyperlocal and wellness-focused press regularly cover small studios with a genuine story.
How does this differ from advertising?
Coverage is earned, not paid for, and reads as more credible to a student comparing studios.
A wellness site offers to feature us if we buy an advertisement. Is that PR?
No. Coverage tied to a purchase is advertising, even if it reads like an article. Ask for the label and the rate card. Real PR is a writer picking your teacher or event because it suits readers, and nothing changes hands.
Is a press note better than an Instagram post for our new teacher?
A post tells existing students. A press note reaches a wellness writer who may feature the teacher to people who do not know the studio. Send the note with a photograph and bio first, then post and link to any coverage.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
