The sales process · Sales enablement

A call script is a map of where the call can turn, not a paragraph to read out.

A call script is one page per kind of call. It sets out the opening, why you are ringing this person, the questions you ask before talking about yourself, and where the call can turn. The person who makes the calls writes half of it.

A dance studio: a sprung wooden floor with a waltz sequence of footprints taped across it, one of them lifted and re-taped a step further on with the old tape still showing, a barre and a mirrored wall behind with a pair of shoes hung over the barre, and an upright piano in the corner

In one paragraph

A call script is one page per kind of call. It sets out the opening, why you are ringing this person, the questions you ask before talking about yourself, and where the call can turn. The person who makes the calls writes half of it.

Most scripts fail in the first line, because somebody who has never made the call wrote it. It reads beautifully and cannot be said by a human being at nine in the morning to a stranger who is standing in a factory. The caller abandons it on day two and goes back to improvising.

What a caller actually needs is the branches. Nobody forgets who they work for. What people fumble is the moment the buyer says send me a mail, or asks the price in the first thirty seconds, or says the purchase person is not in.

The lines you practised in meeting roleplay become the page here. Once the calls are running, the same words get shortened for the email templates in the next step. The buyer who heard you on Tuesday then recognises you on Thursday.

Where this sits

Stage 5 of 10, sales enablement. What the person selling says, sends and answers with, written down instead of improvised.

The stage before
Lead generation
The stage after
Sales qualification

If you want this done for you

Every rep says something different on the same call.

The work

What this step is actually like.

  • Two columns, not one

Left column, what you say. Right column, what you are listening for. A caller who knows that the phrase we already have a vendor is a branch and not a refusal will stay in the conversation for another minute.

  • The first ten seconds are fixed, the rest is not

Write the opening word for word: your name, your company, why you are calling this person specifically, and a question that gives them a way out. After that, the page turns into prompts. A caller who is still reading at the sixty-second mark has already lost the listener.

  • Write it in the language the call happens in

If the call to a foundry owner off Tumkur Road runs in Kannada and the script is in English, the caller translates live. He will stumble on exactly the sentences that matter. Write the price line, the reason for the call and the objection answers in the language they will be spoken in.

  • The caller writes half of it

Sit with whoever makes the calls and write it together, then get the owner and the person who answers technical questions to approve what is promised. Anything a caller did not help write gets quietly dropped, and you will not find out for a month.

What we do

What you end up with.

The artefacts this step produces, what each one is for, and how you know it is finished.

  1. One page per call type

A small business needs four. The first call to a cold prospect. The reply to an enquiry that has just come in. Then the follow-up after a quotation, and the call that reschedules a meeting nobody turned up to. Each fits on a single side.

Result: A new joiner can take a real call on day two with the right page in front of them.

  2. The branch lines

Four or five written responses for where calls actually turn. Not the right person. No budget this quarter. Send me an email, we are happy with our current supplier, and what is your rate. Two sentences each, no more.

Result: The caller stops going silent at the moment the call was winnable.

  3. The closing ask

The last thing said on every call is a specific next step with a day attached, not a promise to be in touch. Write the two versions: the one where they agreed, and the one where they did not.

Result: Calls end with something in a diary instead of a feeling that it went well.

  4. The three-line note

What the caller types afterwards: what the buyer wants, what is in the way, and the date of the next contact. Write the three field names on the script itself so the note happens while the call is fresh.

Result: The next person to ring this buyer knows what was said, even if the caller has left.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every monthly report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No lock-in, no guarantees we cannot keep

Three to six months at a time. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Will a script make our callers sound mechanical?
It does if the page is prose. Prompts and branches read as confidence, because the caller is not inventing the next sentence while half listening. The test is a recording where you cannot tell which lines came off the page.
How long does it take to write call scripts?
An afternoon for the first draft and about a week of live calls to fix it. Expect three rounds of edits, all of them from sentences that failed on the phone rather than from opinions in a meeting.
How many scripts does a small team need?
Four pages covers most businesses selling one or two things. A ninth script nobody can find is worse than no script, so add one only when a call type keeps going wrong in the same way.
Who should write the script, the owner or the caller?
Both, in the same room. The caller knows which sentences survive contact, the owner knows what may be promised on price and delivery. A script written by only one of them either cannot be said or should not have been.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped in the free audit and put in writing before anything starts. For sales work it is mostly our time, with production only where scripts, decks or CRM setup need it.
How long is the contract?
Three to six months at a time. There is no twelve-month lock, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the monthly review.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Every month is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. Terms run three to six months at a time, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
