E-commerce · Automotive Parts

The bulb is cheap, but the buyer will not order until they know the base type.

In vehicle lighting, a bulb for a Swift and a bulb for a Creta may share a name on the pack and have different bases. The buyer found this out once, from a returned order, and now reads every listing for the code: H4, H7, H11, T10, or whatever the old bulb had printed on it.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

In one paragraph

Vehicle lighting e-commerce is the online sale of headlamp assemblies, tail lamps, bulbs, LED and HID upgrades, fog lamps and indicators for cars and two-wheelers. GullySales builds pages around bulb type, housing and vehicle, and shows buyers what the light looks like before they order.

Lighting also has two kinds of buyer who share nothing. One needs a replacement lamp after a minor accident or a failed bulb. The other wants an upgrade, brighter and whiter, and is persuaded by a photograph taken at night. Mix them and neither is served.

Last updated 7 Oct 2026. Product, labelling and advertising rules for automotive parts differ by product and change. We describe them in general terms, so check the current position with your own adviser or the regulator before you publish a claim.

Who it is for

This is written for you if you sell vehicle lighting online.

  • Sellers of replacement headlamp and tail lamp assemblies for popular cars and bikes
  • Brands and importers of LED bulbs, HID kits and projector headlamps
  • Sellers of auxiliary fog lamps, DRL strips and indicators on marketplaces
  • Distributors who supply body shops and customisation workshops

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • Sellers who cannot state the bulb base or the fitment for what they sell. Returns will pile up quickly.
  • Anyone who wants to market lights as road legal, certified or brighter than another brand without papers. That is a claim to take to your adviser, and we will not write it.

How buyers choose

What decides the sale of vehicle lighting.

  1. The base type and the wattage

The buyer takes the old bulb to a shop, or reads its code, and looks for the same one. The code, the voltage and the wattage in the title are what get the page selected.

  2. Assembly or bulb

After an accident the buyer wants the whole lamp, left or right, with the connector. For a dim bulb they want only the bulb. A page that confuses the two draws the wrong enquiry.

  3. The upgrade question

A buyer of an LED or projector upgrade asks whether it fits the housing, whether the dashboard will show an error, and whether the beam stays on the road. They look for night photographs from a car like theirs.

  4. Colour and brightness in photographs

The photograph of the lamp is judged on the wall, not on the white background. A shot on a dark road, taken with a phone, shows more than a studio image.

Where sales are lost

What usually goes wrong when you sell vehicle lighting online.

In the words sellers use on the first call.

  • “Customers say the LED bulb throws light everywhere”

A bulb that suits one housing may scatter light in another. The page should say which housings it is meant for, and suggest a fitting at a workshop where that is the safe choice.

  • “We get returns for the wrong connector”

The base fit but the plug did not. The connector type belongs in the listing and in the order check, with a picture of the plug.

  • “Our headlamp assemblies sell left and right mixed up”

A lamp for the left looks like the right on a white background. Show the side in the title, the photograph and the confirmation message.

  • “The market is full of cheap copies and our price looks high”

A buyer seeing two similar bulbs at two prices assumes the dearer is a trick. The page needs to show what differs: the housing, the chip, the heat control and the warranty as stated by the maker.

The scope

The work we would propose for vehicle lighting.

Measured on purchases and, for trade buyers, qualified enquiries, quotation requests and repeat orders. Anything here that needs a platform or tool we have not used with you is confirmed in the audit before it goes in the scope.

What we do

What you get for vehicle lighting.

Each deliverable and what it is there to change.

  1. A bulb-code finder

A table from vehicle to headlamp, fog lamp, indicator and brake bulb code. It is the page buyers return to.

  2. A fitment sheet for assemblies

Left and right, with the connector and the mounting points photographed. It reduces the mix-ups at dispatch.

  3. A beam comparison set

Photographs and a short video on the same road, same camera, same car. It answers the upgrade buyer's main worry.

  4. An upgrade checklist

A one-page list of what to confirm before ordering: housing, base, canbus warning, space behind the lamp. It saves a round of questions.

How the result is measured

  • Purchases and conversion rate
  • Average order value for assemblies and kits
  • Qualified workshop enquiries
  • Return rate
  • Returns for wrong base or connector
  • Product-page views from bulb-code search

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

What we need from you

What to have ready before the audit call.

None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.

  • Your listing links and the bulb codes you sell
  • Photographs of bases, connectors and packs
  • The cars and bikes each product fits, as you now know it
  • Return reasons and any complaints about the beam
  • Videos already shot by customers or workshops, with their permission

Selling in India and abroad

Selling vehicle lighting beyond your own market.

Where you sell decides sizes, units, seasons and returns. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new country we start from your own sales and the platforms you already use.

  1. Lamp rules and beam patterns differ

The rules on what a headlamp may do vary by country, and a lamp made for one pattern of road is not always allowed on another. Whether a product may be sold abroad is for your adviser and the buyer's importer.

  2. Voltage

Cars run on twelve volts and many trucks on twenty-four. The page says which, in every market.

FAQ

Questions about selling vehicle lighting online.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How do I make sure buyers choose the right bulb?
Put the bulb code, voltage and wattage in the title, and list the vehicles by year. Show a photograph of the base. A mechanic or the owner can then match it against the old bulb in a minute.
Can I say my LED headlamp bulbs are legal for road use?
Do not say it without documents. Rules on lamps differ by vehicle and change, and your adviser or the regulator is the source. A page can describe the bulb and leave the legal question to the buyer's workshop.
Do night photographs matter more than the specification?
For upgrades, yes. The specification tells the buyer it fits, and the photograph tells them whether they want it. Keep both on the page, with the same car in each shot.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped in the free audit and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.
