A packet of seeds costs little, so the buyer trusts you or does not buy at all.

Seeds are cheap, light and ship easily, which brings a hundred sellers with the same photograph of a ripe tomato. The buyer cannot tell one from another. They read the packet description, the sowing instructions and the reviews that say whether anything came up.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

In one paragraph

Selling seeds online means vegetable, flower, herb and microgreen seeds in small packets for home growers, bought on trust and sown weeks later. GullySales builds pages around what to sow and when, bundles seed packets into growing kits and follows buyers through the season so they come back for the next sowing.

The sale is not finished at delivery. A buyer who sows on the wrong date or in the wrong pot and sees nothing will blame the seed. The seller who helped them sow properly gets the next order.

Last updated 7 Oct 2026. Product, labelling and advertising rules for garden supplies differ by product and change. We describe them in general terms, so check the current position with your own adviser or the regulator before you publish a claim.

Who it is for

This is written for you if you sell seeds online.

  • Seed companies and small growers selling vegetable, flower and herb packets
  • Sellers of heirloom and desi variety seeds to home gardeners
  • Microgreen, sprout and kitchen-garden kit sellers
  • Nurseries who add seed packets to plant orders

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • A seller who cannot say what the variety or the packing date is. Buyers ask, and an unclear answer ends the sale.
  • Wholesale sellers who supply farmers by the kilo. The buyer, the price and the channel are different from a gardener's packet.

How buyers choose

What decides the sale of seeds.

  1. Variety and what it is for

Searches name the vegetable and the use: cherry tomato for a pot, coriander that does not bolt fast, marigold for a border. Each variety deserves its own page with the sowing conditions.

  2. Sowing month and region

A buyer in Pune and a buyer in Chandigarh do not sow chilli in the same month. Buyers search for what to sow now, and a seller who answers by city and month appears first.

  3. Germination and freshness

Reviews that say nothing sprouted are the single worst thing on a seed page. Buyers look for the packing date, the storage note and the seller's reply to a bad review.

  4. Seeds per packet and the whole bundle

The count is shown as seeds in the packet or weight. Buyers compare it across sellers and look for combinations, such as a kitchen garden set with six vegetables.

Where sales are lost

What usually goes wrong when you sell seeds online.

In the words sellers use on the first call.

  • “Reviews say the seeds did not germinate”

Most failures are in sowing: depth, water, temperature, light. Putting sowing guidance inside the packet and on the page, and replying to each complaint, changes the review.

  • “A packet is so cheap that ads cost more than the sale”

A single packet cannot carry a click. Bundles, kits and seasonal sets lift the order, and a seller with a range keeps the cost per order in check.

  • “Our seeds are good but look like every other packet”

Without something specific, buyers choose on price. Say where the seed was grown, the year, the variety and any difference in how it grows. Only say what you can prove.

  • “Orders come once a year in the sowing rush”

A short sowing season means a rush and then silence. A sowing reminder by month and a list for the next season keep the buyer connected.

What we do

What you get for seeds.

Each deliverable and what it is there to change.

  1. A sowing calendar by month and city

The crops to sow in each month in each region you ship to. Buyers return when the calendar says it is time.

  2. A packet insert

A printed card with depth, spacing, watering and what to do if nothing appears. It cuts the complaint that the seed was bad.

  3. Three or four seasonal kits

A balcony herb kit, a monsoon vegetable set, a flower border set. They raise the order value for a cheap product.

  4. A germination follow-up message

A single message and a form. It separates sowing mistakes from poor seed and keeps the review score safe.

How the result is measured

  • Purchases
  • Conversion rate
  • Average order value
  • Repeat purchase rate
  • Return rate and the reasons given
  • Reviews and messages that mention germination

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

What we need from you

What to have ready before the audit call.

None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.

  • Your seed list with variety names, counts and packing dates
  • Sowing instructions you already print
  • The reviews and messages that say seeds did not come up
  • Your sales by month for last year
  • Marketplace and store links

Selling in India and abroad

Selling seeds beyond your own market.

Where you sell decides sizes, units, seasons and returns. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new country we start from your own sales and the platforms you already use.

  1. Seed movement is controlled

Rules for seeds differ between countries and need checking with the relevant authority before any sale. We would not propose overseas sales until you have that answer.

  2. Sow in the buyer's season

A buyer abroad needs the sowing time in their own climate, not India's. Pages should explain how to read the packet for their season, in plain units.

FAQ

Questions about selling seeds online.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How do I make my seed packets stand out from the hundred others?
State what is true of yours: the variety, the packing date, where it was grown, how many seeds are in the packet. Add sowing instructions that fit a Bengaluru balcony or a Delhi winter. Specifics beat the picture of a perfect tomato.
What do I do about a customer who says my seeds did not sprout?
Ask for how they sowed it, the depth, the pot and the date. Offer a replacement if you decide to. The reply is public to everyone reading the review, so be helpful and short.
Are seeds worth advertising at all given the low prices?
Only with bundles, repeat buyers or a wide range. A single packet will not cover its click. We would look at your average order and your repeat rate before proposing any ad spend.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.
