The carpenter picks the polish, and the customer only sees the result.

Wood coatings are bought by the person who applies them. A carpenter or a polish contractor knows the grain, the look wanted and the dust in the workshop, and orders by habit. A homeowner doing a teak door or a table at home has no habit and is afraid of ruining the wood.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

In one paragraph

Wood coatings are the polishes, melamine, polyurethane, lacquers, varnishes, stains and oils used on furniture, doors, flooring and decks. GullySales writes pages by wood and finish, builds a route for carpenters and furniture makers to reorder, and follows up workshops that ask about a bulk supply.

Those are two different shops. One needs a reorder list, a mixing ratio and a delivery to the workshop. The other needs a picture of the finished wood and plain steps.

Who it is for

This is written for you if you sell wood coatings online.

  • Makers and dealers of melamine, PU, lacquer, varnish and wood stain
  • Sellers of sanding sealers, thinners, wood fillers and polishing consumables with the coatings
  • Suppliers to furniture workshops, modular kitchen makers and door manufacturers
  • Brands that sell teak oil and deck stain to homeowners for DIY work

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • A seller who cannot supply the thinner, hardener or mixing instructions along with the coating. A wrongly mixed tin ruins a piece of furniture and your name.
  • Sellers whose coating is used only inside a factory line by one OEM. There is no open market to reach.

How buyers choose

What decides the sale of wood coatings.

  1. Wood, finish and look

The search names the wood and the effect: teak stain, matt finish for a dining table, high gloss for a wardrobe shutter, clear coat that keeps the natural colour. Each is a separate query.

  2. Single pack or two pack

A carpenter asks whether the polish needs a hardener, how long the mix stays usable and how many coats. A homeowner asks only whether one coat will do. Pages need both answers, kept apart.

  3. Sample on real wood

Stain looks different on teak, sheesham and pine. Buyers want a photograph of the same stain on their wood, or a small sample to test on a scrap piece.

  4. Indoor, outdoor and the wet places

Doors, balcony furniture, decks and kitchen cabinets face different conditions. The buyer searches for the place, and wants a coating that suits it.

Where sales are lost

What usually goes wrong when you sell wood coatings online.

In the words sellers use on the first call.

  • “Our carpenters keep buying the brand they already know”

A workshop changes polish only when a supplier delivers fast and the finish is as good. A trial pack and a WhatsApp reorder are the way in.

  • “Customers apply it wrongly and blame the product”

Sanding grit, drying between coats and thinner choice are the usual faults. Short video steps and a clear note on the pack page reduce complaints before they arrive.

  • “Shipping solvent products is a headache”

Many wood coatings are solvent-based, and couriers treat them differently. Which carriers will take them, and what packaging, must be settled before online orders start.

  • “Sheen and colour never match the sample”

The finish depends on wood, coats and application. Pages should show real photographs on named wood and say the result will vary.

What we do

What you get for wood coatings.

Each deliverable and what it is there to change.

  1. A finish and wood guide

A table of finishes against wood types and uses, with your products placed in it. It answers the question the buyer cannot phrase.

  2. A mixing and drying sheet

The ratios, pot life, coats and recoat conditions from your data sheet, laid out for a workshop wall. It lowers complaints.

  3. A trial pack offer page

A small pack for a new carpenter, with a form that notes the shop and the wood they use. It begins a relationship that can be followed up.

  4. A workshop reorder list

Each workshop's products and pack sizes, with the date the last tin should be running out. It turns a call into a repeat order.

How the result is measured

  • Purchases and conversion rate
  • Qualified enquiries from workshops
  • Quotation requests
  • Trial packs sent and reordered
  • Repeat orders
  • Complaints that trace to wrong application

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

What we need from you

What to have ready before the audit call.

None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.

  • Data sheets with mixing ratios, coats and recoat conditions
  • Photographs of your finishes on named woods
  • A list of workshops and polish contractors already buying
  • Your pack sizes, and which carriers take them
  • Complaints and returns you have had on application

Selling in India and abroad

Selling wood coatings beyond your own market.

Where you sell decides sizes, units, seasons and returns. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new country we start from your own sales and the platforms you already use.

  1. Solvent rules vary by country

Many markets restrict solvent-based coatings or label them differently. A water-based line may travel better than a solvent one, and your forwarder confirms what can be shipped.

  2. Wood species and climate

Overseas buyers work with different timbers and different humidity. State which woods you have tested a finish on and leave out those you have not.

FAQ

Questions about selling wood coatings online.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Should I sell wood polish to homeowners or only to carpenters?
Start where your orders already come from. Carpenters reorder, which is the steadier business. Homeowners need more explaining and buy less often. We would handle them on separate pages.
How do I show a finish properly online?
Photograph it on the actual wood, in daylight, up close and from a distance, with the number of coats noted. A swatch on a card tells a buyer little. Wood grain changes everything.
Can I list products that need a hardener as one item?
List the base and the hardener as a pair so the buyer cannot order one without the other. A tin of polish without its hardener is a returned order and an angry call.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped in the free audit and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.
