Buyers do not know their water, so they buy the brand whose technician will come.
A water purifier buyer has a doubt, not a wish. The tap water smells, or tastes salty, or a neighbour said the water in this area is hard. They do not know their own water's quality, and they cannot tell reverse osmosis (RO) from ultraviolet (UV) or ultrafiltration (UF). So they pick a brand they trust. Then they ask who will install it.
A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.
In one paragraph
Water purification e-commerce is the online sale of water purifiers, filters, replacement cartridges and dispensers for homes, offices and shops, bought on a worry about the water that comes out of the tap. GullySales works on how your pages explain the technology in plain words without promising what the water will do, how installation and servicing are shown before payment, and how cartridge buyers come back on time.
That makes the first sale a trust sale and the second sale a service sale. A purifier has a running cost: cartridges, membranes, a yearly service. Whoever keeps that relationship sells the cartridges and the service contract for years. Everyone else loses it to the nearest local technician.
The four pages here treat the segment by what the buyer is actually buying: the whole machine, a simpler filter, the cartridges that keep either one going, and a dispenser.
Last updated 7 Oct 2026. Product, labelling and advertising rules for water purification differ by product and change. We describe them in general terms, so check the current position with your own adviser or the regulator before you publish a claim.
4 types of product
Each kind of water purification sells differently, so each has its own page.
Open the one that matches what you sell. It covers who buys it, where the sale is lost and what we would do.
- Water PurifiersThe buyer wants to be told which purifier suits their water, and we sell without asking.
- Water FiltersA filter is the cheap answer, so the buyer needs to be told what it does not do.
- Replacement CartridgesThe buyer knows the machine and not the part number, and searches for neither.
- Water DispensersOffices buy a dispenser once, and then the real question is who supplies the water.
Who it is for
This is written for you if you sell water purification online.
- Water purifier brands selling on marketplaces and their own sites alongside dealers
- Dealers and service companies with technicians who want orders and service bookings online
- Sellers of replacement cartridges, membranes and spares for several makes
- Sellers of filters and dispensers for offices, clinics and small businesses
- Local manufacturers with a product and a service team but no online presence
Not for
It is not the right fit if.
- A seller who wants to claim a purifier makes water safe, cures illness or removes everything
- A seller with no installation or service arrangement, who wants marketing to cover for it
How buyers choose
What decides who wins in water purification.
The water at home
RO is recommended for salty or hard water, and UV or UF for municipal supply. Buyers who have heard this ask the seller to confirm it for their area, often by asking for a TDS test.
Installation, service and the yearly contract
The technician matters as much as the product. Buyers ask who installs, what the warranty covers, what the annual maintenance contract costs and whether a service visit will actually turn up.
Running cost and how often the filters change
Buyers want to know what a year of cartridges costs and how the machine tells them it is due. A cheap purifier with expensive cartridges is a complaint waiting.
Storage, waste water and counter space
RO units waste some water, and buyers ask how much and where it goes. They also ask about tank size, wall mounting and whether it fits under the counter.
Where sales are lost
What usually goes wrong when you sell water purification online.
In the words sellers use on the first call.
“Customers phone us for service and we do not know who to send”
A purifier sold online by one seller and serviced by another leaves the buyer with no one to blame but you. Service handled outside your control still ends in your reviews.
“A local technician walks in with a cheaper machine”
The buyer goes with whoever is nearby and will come back for the service. A national listing has to show a local answer to compete.
“Cartridge buyers go to marketplace sellers of look-alikes”
A buyer searching for a cartridge by model finds a cheaper, unbranded one. Without your own cartridge page, you lose the repeat sale and the buyer's trust.
“Claims in the listing get questioned”
A line saying the water is completely pure or kills every germ invites a complaint or worse. The words have to be what you can show.
The scope
The work we would propose for water purification.
Measured on purchases, conversion rate, cost to win a customer, average order value and repeat purchases. Anything here that needs a platform or tool we have not used with you is confirmed in the audit before it goes in the scope.
- Listings that explain RO, UV and UF in one pictureA simple image for each product showing what the stages do and which water it is made for, so the buyer picks the right type.
- A water-check guide with a TDS questionA short guide that asks the buyer's area and water source, and recommends a type, with a clear note when a test is the sensible first step.
- City pages with installation and servicePages and Business Profile listings for the cities where you install and service, with the way a service visit is booked.
- Cartridge and service remindersA reminder to owners, with their permission, as the filter or the service becomes due, and a single page to reorder.
Claims review for packaging, listings and ads
A check of every statement about purification, certification and water quality against what you can show, with the claims for your adviser flagged.
What we do

A page where the buyer picks a brand and model and sees the right cartridge, price and fitting guide.
A claims sheet
The statements your pages, packs and ads may make about the product, and those that need your adviser, kept for your team to use.

What the work involves for water purification
- 1
Start with service and the second purchase
In the free audit we look at who installs, who services, how cartridges are ordered today and what customers phone about after delivery.
- 2
Put the explanation on the product pages
Water-type guidance, installation and service information, and the claims check go onto the pages that already get visitors.
- 3
Set up the cartridge route and the city pages
A cartridge finder, reminders and city pages are built, with a baseline of purchases, returns and cartridge orders recorded first.
- 4
Measure against the baseline
Results are reported against it, with the way and timing of reports agreed in writing after the audit, and the plan is revised from what sold and what came back.
What we need from you
What to have ready before the audit call.
None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.
- Store and marketplace links for every product
- Your service arrangement, cities covered and contract terms
- Cartridge and spare part list with prices
- Reviews and complaints that mention service, taste or running cost
- Any test reports, certificates or approvals you hold
Selling in India and abroad
Selling water purification beyond your own market.
Where you sell decides sizes, units, seasons and returns. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new country we start from your own sales and the platforms you already use.
Water differs, rules differ
A purifier built for Indian water may not suit another country's supply, and claims about water quality are regulated differently. Your adviser confirms what you may say in each market.
Cartridges and filters travel best
A seller already shipping filters, taps and spare parts can reach Indian households abroad more easily than with complete machines. Start with the countries that appear in your own orders.

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.
The fee in writing, split three ways
Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.
