Resorts and homestays · Search engine optimisation

Be the homestay that shows up when someone searches for a plantation stay that takes dogs.

SEO for a resort or homestay is getting your own website found for the searches travellers make while planning, such as a plantation stay near Madikeri or a pet-friendly cottage in Chikmagalur. A booking that starts on your own page carries no app commission. GullySales writes the pages for your location, your kinds of stay and the doubts guests raise before booking, and fixes what keeps the site out of results.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What search engine optimisation means

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the work of getting your website to appear when a buyer searches Google for what you sell. GullySales builds pages around real search terms, fixes technical issues that block ranking, and tracks which searches actually bring enquiries.

For resorts and homestays

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The apps outrank your own site for your own name”

Search the property name and Airbnb, MakeMyTrip and an aggregator sit above your website. A guest who meant to book direct ends up paying through the app.

  • “Nobody searches for a homestay they have not heard of”

They search for the place and the feature: a waterfall stay in Sakleshpur, a cottage with a bonfire near Kabini. A site that only says welcome to our home answers neither.

  • “The drive is a page guests search for”

How far from Bengaluru, whether the ghat road suits a sedan, where the network drops. A page that answers this plainly gets read, shared in the family group and found again.

What we do

What we deliver for resorts and homestays.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A page for each way to stay

Separate pages for the estate cottage, the family room with a loft and the whole-bungalow booking, each with its own photographs, bed layout and the guests it suits.

Result: A large family finds the bungalow page instead of guessing from room photos.

  2. Place pages around the property

Pages for the nearest town, the falls, the trek starting point and the safari gate, written by someone who knows the distance and the road.

Result: A traveller planning the trip lands on your site, not on a portal's list.

  3. Getting-here page with the road described

The route from the nearest city, the last fuel stop, the turn after the temple, where cars park and when a jeep is needed in the rains.

Result: Guests reach the gate instead of calling from the wrong village.

  4. Repair of slow photo-heavy pages

Compressed images, pages that open on a hill-station signal, and the property name, address and phone matched to the Google Maps listing.

Result: Pages that are already written get a fair chance of being found.

  5. Search Console and enquiry tracking

Google Search Console set up on your domain, with every WhatsApp click and call from the site traced to the page it came from.

Result: You can see which page brought a direct booking.

How the result is measured

  • Ranking positions
  • Organic traffic
  • Enquiries from organic search

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Searches your guests type

What a traveller types while planning a resort or homestay trip, and the page that should answer it.

homestay in Coorg with plantation walk
A stay page. Name the crop on the estate, what the walk covers, who leads it, and whether children and grandparents can manage the slope.
pet friendly resort near Bangalore for weekend
A pet policy page. Say which rooms take dogs, any size limit, any pet fee, and where pets may not go, such as the pool or the dining area.
Kabini resort with jungle safari
A wildlife page. Explain that safari seats are booked through the forest department's own system and are not yours to promise, and how you help guests apply.
Chikmagalur cottage for a big group of friends
A group stay page. Give beds by room, extra mattresses, the music rule after dark, and your policy on guests bringing their own alcohol.
corporate offsite venue near Bangalore with stay
An offsite page. List the hall or lawn, the projector and power backup, rooms on twin sharing, the food plan and the bus route from the city.
[property name] direct booking
Your booking page. Show the rate you would quote on WhatsApp, what the meal plan includes, and the advance and cancellation terms in plain words.

Who it is for

This is written for these resorts and homestays.

  • Coffee and tea estate homestays
  • Jungle lodges near tiger reserves and national parks
  • Hill-station resorts and cottages
  • Beach cottages and villas in Goa, Gokarna and the Konkan coast
  • Heritage havelis and farm stays
  • Private villas rented as a whole
  • Backwater and lakeside stays
  • Wellness and ayurveda retreats

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
  • You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
  • You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is reply time, a follow-up sequence, the page buyers land on or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the search engine optimisation work runs

  1. 1

    Audit and baseline

We record where the site stands today: positions, traffic, technical faults and the enquiries search currently produces. Nothing starts until this number is written down.

  2. 2

    Decide what to rank for

We map the searches your buyers use, in your words and theirs, and pick the ones worth the effort for your margin and your capacity.

  3. 3

    Fix the foundations

Technical faults first, because the cheapest gains are usually there. Then the Business Profile and directory consistency.

  4. 4

    Build the pages

A page for each thing you do, written to answer the question it is searched for, with a clear next step at the end.

  5. 5

    Publish and earn mentions

Content goes out on the calendar. Links and mentions are earned from real relationships, not bought.

  6. 6

    Measure, report, adjust

At the interval agreed at the start we report what moved and what did not, and change the plan when the numbers say so.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Should we write a travel blog about our area?
Only about what you know first-hand: the walk from your gate, the falls in October, the bakery in town that guests love. Lists of tourist spots copied from portals will not rank against the portals, and add nothing a guest needs.
Our homestay is well outside the town. Should the pages use the town's name?
Yes, if guests use that town to describe where they are going, but state the true distance and the drive on the same page. A guest who feels misled about distance says so in a review, and that costs more than the search ever brought.
Can we copy our Airbnb description onto the website?
Write it fresh. The same text in two places gives search engines no reason to show your site over the app. Your website also has room for what an app listing cuts short, such as the road, the food and the house rules.
Do the best homestays in Wayanad lists on travel sites matter?
They send some guests and a link search engines notice. Ask to be included where the writer has stayed or checked the property, and never pay for a place on a list that does not say it is paid.
Ours is a family homestay, not a resort. Is this worth it for us?
Yes, if you want more direct bookings and fuller weekdays. A small property needs fewer pieces: a clean listing, a proper WhatsApp reply and a past-guest list. We can show which of those is missing before you spend anything.
Should we come off Airbnb and Booking.com?
No. The apps bring guests who would never find you otherwise. The aim is that a guest who already knows you books direct the second time, and that the apps fill the dates you cannot fill yourself.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
