FMCG distributors · Buyer persona

Describe the people who decide whether you grow, in their own words.

A buyer persona for an FMCG distributor is a written description of one person who decides on an order or an appointment: what they want, what they fear and how they like to be reached. GullySales builds the personas from your owner's and salesmen's conversations, not from guesses.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

FMCG distributors: show a real physical business scene illustrating Beat plans and outlet master. Group outlets into beats by day, record each outlet’s type, owner and phone, and see which shops were visited and which placed no order.

What buyer persona means

A buyer persona is a plain description of the kind of customer who actually buys from you. It includes what they search, what worries them and who else they ask before deciding. GullySales builds this from real enquiries and past sales rather than a generic template, then uses it to write every page and advert.

For FMCG distributors

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The kirana owner buys on an empty shelf and on trust”

The shopkeeper orders when stock runs out and wants the delivery in the promised slot and the scheme as printed. Credit terms and an uncomplicated return of damaged cartons weigh more than a small price difference.

  • “The regional sales manager judges risk”

The manager wants a distributor who funds stock, covers outlets and files claims without chasing. A persona for this reader lists the proofs the manager looks for and the colleagues who will be asked.

  • “The wholesaler is both customer and rival”

A wholesaler in the next town buys from you at one rate and competes for some of the same shops. That persona records what the wholesaler needs and where the territory line sits, so the talk does not become a dispute.

  • “The canteen or hostel buyer signs but does not shop”

A warden, mess contractor or caterer orders from a list someone else approves and pays against an invoice. The persona notes who approves, who pays and who receives the delivery.

What we do

What we deliver for FMCG distributors.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Persona sheets

One page each for the kirana owner, wholesaler, sub-distributor, company manager and institutional buyer you deal with.

Result: A sheet for every kind of buyer you serve.

  2. Beat interview questions

A short set of questions the salesman asks on the beat, with a place to record the answers in the buyer's words.

Result: Answers recorded against the outlet, not left in memory.

  3. Objection and reply list

The doubts each buyer raises, such as late delivery or a damaged carton, with a reply agreed by the owner.

Result: Salesmen answer the same doubt the same way.

  4. Message map

Which message goes to which persona, by WhatsApp, call or visit, and in which language.

Result: A table of buyer, message and channel.

  5. Persona tag on the register

A column on the outlet register marking each retailer's buyer type, so lists can be cut by persona.

Result: Any list of outlets can be filtered by buyer type.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiry match to persona
  • Conversion rate by persona
  • Content aligned to persona

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the buyer persona work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the current view

We start with how your team currently describes the customer, since the gap between belief and reality is often the finding itself.

  2. 2

    Audit past enquiries and sales

We look at recent enquiries and closed deals to see who actually bought, not who was assumed to buy.

  3. 3

    Interview customers and staff

Short, structured conversations surface the real language, worries and triggers behind a purchase.

  4. 4

    Build the personas

Findings are written into short, usable persona documents rather than a long report.

  5. 5

    Apply to your marketing

We show exactly where each persona should change a page, an ad or a script you already have.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How many personas do we need?
One for each kind of buyer you serve. A distributor that sells only to kiranas and wholesalers starts with those two and adds the rest as the business widens.
Where does the information come from?
From your salesmen, the owner, the invoices and what retailers say on visits. We do not buy data or invent it.
Do personas change?
Update them whenever a salesman hears something the sheet does not cover. We set up a place to record it, and the owner reviews the sheet when it changes.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
