ClimateTech startups · Lead generation

Find the plants and campuses that have a reason to buy your pilot this year.

Lead generation for a ClimateTech startup means finding the buyers who carry an emissions, energy, water or waste target and reaching them before a competitor or a consultant does. GullySales works on the buyer lists, trigger signals and enquiry routes that bring those people to your door.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What lead generation means

Lead generation is the combined work of every channel that brings in a new enquiry, whether from search, adverts, referrals or a stall at an exhibition. GullySales runs these channels together and reports the number of enquiries each one produced, not the activity behind it.

For ClimateTech startups

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “A target without a deadline never becomes an order”

A sustainability head may admire the product and still have nothing to sign. The better lead is a plant with an export customer's questionnaire to answer, a lender's condition to meet or a pollution board notice on the desk. Those buyers have a date, and a date is what moves a purchase.

  • “Leads arrive through intermediaries”

An energy auditor, an EPC contractor or a green building consultant writes the specification before the plant head ever searches. If your startup is absent from their shortlist, the enquiry never reaches your inbox, however good the pilot was.

  • “The first reference decides who replies”

A cold message that names a running site in the buyer's own cluster gets read. A message about a platform gets filed. Lead generation here starts from the pilot site and walks outwards to its neighbours, with the owner's written consent.

  • “A generic enquiry form loses the sizing facts”

If the form asks only for a name and a message, the founder spends the first call learning the load, the location and the present cost. Those facts belong on the form, so the lead arrives half-qualified.

What we do

What we deliver for ClimateTech startups.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A trigger-based buyer list

A sheet of exporters, hotels, cold stores or campuses in your target cluster, marked with the reason each might buy now, such as an overseas supplier audit.

Result: A list where every name carries a reason to be called.

  2. Industry and problem entry pages

Separate pages for diesel generator cost, boiler losses, effluent treatment or water tracking, each ending in the sizing form.

Result: A search for a plant problem lands on a page that answers it.

  3. A sizing enquiry form

Fields for location, load or volume, current cost and who else signs, with a plain note on what happens after it is sent.

Result: The first call opens with facts already filled in.

  4. Consultant and EPC lead routes

An introduction for auditors and contractors with a sample they can attach to a client report, and a way for you to record which firm sent which site.

Result: Each intermediary shows up as a named source in your records.

  5. A source tag on every enquiry

Each lead is marked by channel, so a search enquiry, a consultant referral and an expo card are counted apart.

Result: You can see which route produces site visits.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiries generated
  • Cost per enquiry
  • Enquiries by source

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What to capture or send

A sizing enquiry for a climate pilot needs the plant's load, site and deadline.

Site type and current energy or water source
Record whether it is a dyeing unit, a campus or a cold store, and what it runs on now. Your engineer can then say if the pilot fits at all.
Size of the load or waste stream
Capture the connected load, the effluent flow or the volume of residue, in the buyer's own units. A quote without it is a guess.
The trigger that makes this year matter
Ask about an export customer's audit, a reporting duty or a rising bill. A buyer with an outside deadline moves; one without may wait.
Who introduced the buyer
Tag the consultant, EPC firm or association behind the enquiry. It shows which routes bring buyers with real budgets.
Decision path and approver
Note who signs, who specifies and who only influences. The sustainability lead may start the enquiry while finance holds the budget.

Who it is for

This is written for these ClimateTech startups.

  • Energy efficiency and monitoring technology startups
  • Carbon accounting and ESG reporting software companies
  • Solar, battery storage and rooftop energy technology startups
  • Waste-to-value, recycling and circular economy startups
  • Water recycling and effluent treatment technology startups
  • EV charging and electric fleet startups
  • Green hydrogen and biofuel technology companies
  • Agri-climate startups working on soil, residue and cold chain

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • Your pilot has run at only one site and no engineer can visit another, so enquiries from further away would sit unsized.
  • You cannot yet say what the product replaces or saves in the buyer's own units, so leads would ask questions you cannot answer.
  • The plan is to chase every sustainability officer, many of whom hold no budget, instead of buyers with a deadline.

How it works

How the lead generation work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

    Understand your capacity

We ask how many enquiries your team can answer well, who answers after hours, and what a good enquiry looks like. Without this, the system fills a funnel nobody is watching.

  2. 2

    Audit current sources

We read your call log, WhatsApp chats, enquiry sheet and platform dashboards. The baseline is recorded: enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order.

  3. 3

    Strategise the channel mix

Search and maps are chosen for people ready to buy, ads for people who are not yet looking, and content and referrals for trust.

  4. 4

    Implement capture and follow-up

Pages, forms, tags, the lead record and the first-reply message are built and tested end to end. We submit test enquiries ourselves before any media money is spent.

  5. 5

    Measure and optimise

Enquiries are traced to source and judged by what became orders, not by volume alone. Channels that fill the sheet with poor enquiries are cut back. How often you are reported to is agreed in writing.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 1, prospecting and lead generation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Who should we call first?
Start with buyers who have an outside deadline, such as an export customer's audit or a lender's condition. They need a solution on a date, so a conversation with them is more likely to reach a decision than one with a buyer who only likes the idea.
Do we need paid ads for leads?
Ads suit problems that buyers already type into Google, such as cutting diesel cost. For a solution buyers do not yet search for, direct outreach and consultant partnerships do more for the same effort, and we say so after looking at your product.
What if we only have one pilot?
One honestly written pilot is enough to begin. We aim the first outreach at units in the same cluster as the pilot site, because they can visit it and compare it to their own plant.
What if a buyer asks for a subsidy or incentive to be included?
Say that you can describe the product and the site, and that incentive rules are the buyer's to confirm with the relevant authority or an adviser. Policy changes, and a quote built on a wrong assumption can sink the order. Keep the quote independent of any scheme.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
