Law firms · Marketing strategy
Decide which practice area to grow within what advertising rules allow.
A marketing strategy for a law firm starts with which practice area has capacity and genuine demand. It then works backwards to the content, directories and referral relationships needed, within the Bar Council's advertising restrictions. GullySales builds this with your partners and reports on it.
Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What marketing strategy means
Marketing strategy is the plan for which channels to use, in what order and with what budget. This way, marketing spend is aimed at a goal instead of tried one channel at a time. GullySales sets this plan after the first conversation, based on where your buyers actually search and decide.
Last updated 5 Oct 2026. Rules for this trade differ by state and professional body, and they change. We describe restrictions in general terms, so check the current position with your own council or adviser before you publish anything.
For law firms
Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.
“The plan has to work within advertising restrictions from the start”
A strategy built around tactics that assume normal advertising freedom wastes effort correcting course later.
“The firms that send you work belong in the plan”
Chartered accountants, other lawyers and past clients who refer work deserve the same planned attention as any content strategy.
“The plan states which practice area waits”
A smaller firm cannot build content and referral relationships for every practice area at once, and the plan says which comes first.
What we do
What we deliver for law firms.
Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.
A written strategy by practice area and capacity
A document setting out which practice area gets marketing attention first, based on genuine capacity and demand.
Result: Partners agree on priorities instead of everything competing at once.
A referral relationship plan alongside content
A specific plan for maintaining relationships with chartered accountants, other lawyers and past clients, planned with the same attention as content.
Result: Referral relationships get deliberate attention, not occasional effort.
A compliance framework built into the plan
Every planned activity checked against Bar Council advertising restrictions before it is scheduled, not after.
Result: The plan avoids wasted effort correcting a compliant course later.
A sequencing plan for practice areas that wait
A written note on which practice areas wait, and what would trigger moving them up the plan.
Result: Partners know what is deferred and why, not just what is happening now.
A report on consultations and referrals
A report on consultation numbers and which referral relationships are sending work, checked against the baseline.
Result: Partners read consultation counts instead of arguing from impressions.
How the result is measured
- Enquiries against target
- Cost per enquiry
- Channel contribution to revenue
Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.
What to decide first
What a law firm decides about practice areas, clients and referrers before any visible marketing.
- The practice area to be known for
- Look at the matters you handled well, billed fully and would like more of. Choose one area, such as property, family or commercial disputes, and write pages and profiles around it first.
- Individuals or businesses
- A person in a family dispute and a company with a contract dispute choose a lawyer differently and pay differently. Decide which group the next effort is for.
- The professionals who refer
- List the chartered accountants, bankers, brokers and other advocates who have sent matters. Choose the few worth a regular, professional conversation, and keep it to what is permitted.
- The forums and cities you cover
- Name the courts, tribunals and cities where you appear. State them plainly, and say what you will refer elsewhere, since a client wants to know you can follow the matter to the end.
- What a consultation enquiry must carry
- Matter type, forum, stage and the other party's name, for a conflict check. Decide who reads the first message, and what happens when the matter is not yours.
- What stays out of your marketing
- The Bar Council of India restricts how advocates advertise and solicit, and the rules are interpreted. Check them with your own bar council, and write down which claims, client names and results you will not use.

Not for
It is not the right fit if.
- You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
- You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
- You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.
How it works
From your first message to the first report.
No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.
First
Your brief
You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.
After the brief
A conversation and a written scope
We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.
Before work starts
Baseline recorded
Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.
After the baseline
The first fix goes live
The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is reply time, a follow-up sequence, the page buyers land on or the handover between marketing and sales.
As agreed
Report against the baseline
What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.
At renewal
Renew on the numbers
The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.
How the marketing strategy work runs
- 1
Understand business goals
We start with what the business needs to achieve this year, in revenue and growth terms, not marketing terms.
- 2
Audit current activity
We review every current marketing activity and what it has actually produced.
- 3
Strategise the plan
Channels, messaging and budget are set based on the goals and what we find in your business, not habit or competitor imitation.
- 4
Implement the roadmap
The plan is broken into an execution roadmap, either run by GullySales, your own team, or both.
- 5
Measure against milestones
Progress is checked against the plan's milestones, with adjustments made as the year unfolds.
Why us
Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.
Marketing and sales, as one job
Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.
The person on the first call does the work
No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.
A baseline before anything starts
Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.
The fee in writing, split three ways
Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.
No guarantees we cannot keep
The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.
One office, and we say so
Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.
#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.
