Ecommerce and D2C brands · Email marketing

Build the six flows before you send another campaign.

Email and text for a D2C brand is the part of the programme that earns without media spend, and most brands have built two of the flows they need. GullySales writes the rest, times replenishment to when the product runs out, and keeps the list clean enough to arrive.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What email marketing means

Email marketing is sending planned messages to a list of past and prospective customers who have agreed to hear from you. It suits offers, updates and staying in touch with someone who is not ready to buy yet. GullySales writes and schedules these emails and tracks who opens, clicks and enquires.

For ecommerce and D2C brands

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Thirty days is not when the bottle runs out”

A replenishment email sent on a round number arrives early for one customer and late for another. The interval belongs to the product, not the calendar.

  • “The welcome discount teaches people to wait”

Offer ten percent for an address and every new visitor learns there is always a code. The full-price order you were about to get has gone.

  • “A stale list can stop the whole programme arriving”

Mail providers watch complaint rates closely and act on them. One campaign to three-year-old addresses puts your order confirmations in the spam folder.

  • “Texts are a different legal animal to email”

Consent, registration of the sending number and quiet hours in the customer's own time zone all apply before the first message goes out. Your counsel signs that off.

What we do

What we deliver for ecommerce and D2C brands.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. The flows that were never built

Welcome, abandoned checkout, browse abandonment, post-purchase, replenishment and win-back written and set live, each with its own offer logic.

Result: Revenue arrives from people who already know you.

  2. A replenishment interval per product

Reorder timing taken from what your own customers do, product by product, rather than one number applied across the whole catalogue.

Result: The reminder lands in the week it is needed.

  3. A welcome offer that does not train discounting

An entry offer built on a first-order benefit other than money off, or a code with a short expiry, tested against the version you run now.

    Result: Full-price orders stop leaking.

  4. List hygiene and a written sunset rule

Bounces removed, dormant addresses suppressed on a stated rule, authentication records checked, and one-click unsubscribe working from every system you send from.

Result: Your mail keeps reaching the inbox.

  5. Segments built on what they bought

Campaigns sent by category, order count and time since the last purchase, so a first-time buyer and a four-time buyer stop getting the same email.

Result: The same list produces more from fewer sends.

  6. Flow revenue kept separate from campaign revenue

The two reported apart, with inbox placement and complaint rate beside them, against the baseline recorded before the work began.

Result: You can see which half of the programme is working.

How the result is measured

  • Open rate
  • Click rate
  • Enquiries from email

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What must be in place first

What a D2C brand needs in place before it scales its email flows.

Consent captured at checkout and signup
Use a separate unticked box for marketing mail on the Shopify checkout and the popup, and store the timestamp and source with each address. Do not email customers who only gave an address for an order update.
A sending domain with authentication set up
Send from a subdomain of your own site, with SPF, DKIM and DMARC records published. Without them, Gmail and Yahoo may route a brand's mail to spam, however good the creative.
A suppression list that never forgets
Keep every unsubscribe, bounce and spam complaint in one list that your email platform and your WhatsApp tool both check. A customer who left once should not return through an import.
Segments from order data
Split at least first-time buyers, repeat buyers, lapsed buyers and wholesale contacts. Add product-based groups where the range allows, such as skincare buyers and supplement buyers. A single blast to everyone wastes the list.
A plain-text reply route
Let customers reply to the founder's or support address, not a no-reply. Replies are a signal to mailbox providers, and a customer with a size or delivery question will write back to you.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the email marketing work runs

  1. 1

    Understand your list

We review who is on the list, how they got there, and how long it has been since they last heard from you.

  2. 2

    Audit past sends

We check open and click rates from past emails to see what has and has not worked.

  3. 3

    Segment and plan

The list is split into meaningful groups and a sending calendar is agreed.

  4. 4

    Implement content and automation

Emails are written, scheduled and, where useful, set to trigger automatically based on behaviour.

  5. 5

    Measure and optimise

We track performance and adjust subject lines, timing and content based on what the list responds to.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • Hours that fit your day, agreed up front

Which hours we overlap with yours is settled before any work starts, so you know when a reply is coming and when it is not.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How often should we email?
More than you are sending and less than you fear, though the flows matter more than the frequency. Start by counting how many of the six you have live. Most brands find three missing, and fix that before touching the campaign calendar.
Our open rates fell off a cliff. What happened?
Probably nothing did. Privacy features in mail apps report opens that never happened and miss ones that did, so the number moved without your list changing. Judge a send on clicks, orders and unsubscribes instead.
Should we buy an email list to launch a new range?
No. Bought addresses give no consent record, drag your domain's reputation down and lead to spam folders. Build from checkout, popups, order confirmation pages and WhatsApp joins, and ask existing customers to forward the signup link.
Do we need a separate flow for Amazon customers?
You cannot email Amazon buyers from Amazon's data. Use a packaging insert or a warranty-registration page that invites them to your own list. Mark where they joined, and keep their consent record separate.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
