Flower shops · Sales training

Train staff to upsell a bouquet without sounding like they are pushing a sale.

Sales training for a flower shop teaches staff how to ask questions that lead to a bigger order, such as adding a vase or a card. It also teaches how to handle a wedding enquiry that needs patience, not a quick close. GullySales trains your actual team on your actual products, not a generic sales script.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What sales training means

Sales training teaches a sales team a skill it does not yet have, such as handling a specific objection or running a proper site visit, usually through a structured session. GullySales runs these sessions around real objections and calls from your business rather than generic sales theory.

For flower shops

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Upselling through a question, not a pitch”

Asking whether the flowers are for someone who loves a particular colour, rather than pushing an add-on directly, leads to a larger order. That feels like good service, not a sales tactic.

  • “Wedding conversations need patience, not urgency”

A staff member used to closing same-day sales quickly can come across as pushy on a wedding enquiry. That enquiry needs to build trust over several conversations, and training separates the two approaches.

  • “Handling a wilted-flower complaint in person”

A customer returning to complain in person needs a calm, solution-focused response on the spot, and training prepares staff for this rather than leaving it to improvisation.

What we do

What we deliver for flower shops.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Question-led upsell training

Training staff to ask about the recipient rather than pitch an add-on directly.

Result: A bigger order feels like good service, not a sales tactic.

  2. Wedding conversation pacing training

Training that separates the patient, trust-building approach a wedding enquiry needs from a quick same-day close.

Result: A wedding couple is not rushed into a decision.

  3. In-person complaint handling training

Training for a calm, solution-focused response when a customer returns to complain about a wilted delivery.

Result: A dissatisfied customer leaves the shop feeling heard.

  4. Channel-consistent response training

Training so staff respond the same way whether an enquiry arrives by phone, in person or by WhatsApp photograph.

Result: Every enquiry gets a consistent, considered reply.

  5. Real-interaction review sessions

A review of real customer interactions with the team after training, checking what is actually being said.

Result: Training stays grounded in what customers really experience.

How the result is measured

  • Skill assessment scores
  • Objection handling improvement
  • Conversion rate after training

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Situations to practise

Six counter and phone moments a florist should practise, and what good looks like.

A call comes in for something nice for an anniversary
Ask occasion, who it is for, budget, delivery address and delivery time. Offer two bouquets at two prices. Practise the two questions that matter most.
The add-on moment at the counter
Ask a question, such as whether the person has a vase, instead of pitching one. Practise with the vase, the card and the chocolates you actually stock.
A wedding enquiry opens with the rate for stage decoration
Ask date, venue, theme and guest count. Invite them to see your portfolio and plan a visit. Practise going slowly, because a wedding is not a same-day sale.
A customer says the bouquet wilted
Apologise, ask when it was delivered, ask for a photo, and replace or refund as your policy says. Practise at the counter and on WhatsApp.
A hotel or office wants flowers on a standing order
Ask delivery days, vase style, number of arrangements, and invoice and GST details. Practise a one-page proposal from those answers.
A sympathy order
Lower your voice, ask short questions, and confirm name, place, time and any ritual need. Practise the pace, since this call is never a place for add-ons.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the sales training work runs

  1. 1

    Assess current skill levels

We review the team's current strengths and gaps, by observing calls and talking to managers.

  2. 2

    Build the curriculum

Content is developed around your product, customers and sales cycle.

  3. 3

    Schedule and deliver

Sessions run on a set calendar, with practice built into each one.

  4. 4

    Check understanding

Short knowledge checks confirm what has actually stuck.

  5. 5

    Review and refresh

The curriculum is revisited periodically and refresher sessions are run for the wider team.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How long does training take?
It fits around your shop's hours rather than a fixed course length. We cover same-day and wedding conversations together, then review real interactions with your team afterwards.
Does this cover phone and WhatsApp too?
Yes, since many enquiries now arrive by WhatsApp with a photo of a desired style, and staff need a consistent way to respond there as well as in person.
Our staff are mostly family. Does training still apply?
Yes, and it can be harder because habits are old. Pick two or three real orders from the past season, play them back, and agree the questions everyone asks. Family teams often find each person asks the same customer quite different things.
How do we practise before peak days like Valentine's Day?
Practise before the rush, not during it. Write the five most common orders with their price and add-on on one card, rehearse the busiest calls early, and let your most experienced person take the difficult ones on the day.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
