Hardware stores · Buyer persona

Know the carpenter, the contractor and the maintenance manager as three different buyers.

A buyer persona for a hardware store is a written picture of the people who buy from the counter: what they need, when they need it and what makes them choose you. GullySales builds that picture from your register, your counter observations and your credit book, not from guesses.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What buyer persona means

A buyer persona is a plain description of the kind of customer who actually buys from you. It includes what they search, what worries them and who else they ask before deciding. GullySales builds this from real enquiries and past sales rather than a generic template, then uses it to write every page and advert.

For hardware stores

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The carpenter buys small quantities, repeatedly and in a hurry”

This buyer wants the item now, knows the brand and size and prefers the shop that already knows the usual order. Price is checked, but a missing item costs a lost hour on site.

  • “The contractor buys in batches against a site”

A contractor orders for a project, wants a bill with GST and delivery to site, and pays on credit or against milestones. Reliability of supply and the clarity of the statement matter more than the lowest rate.

  • “The factory buyer compares quotes and wants paperwork”

A purchase manager or maintenance head asks several suppliers, needs a consistent brand and a proper invoice, and values the supplier who responds with a rate and a delivery commitment.

  • “The homeowner buys once and wants advice”

A homeowner fixing a lock or hanging a shelf needs to be told what to buy. Trust in the counter's advice, plus fair pricing and a return if the item is wrong, brings that buyer back.

What we do

What we deliver for hardware stores.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Persona sheets for each buyer type

A one-page description of the carpenter, contractor, factory buyer and homeowner, built from your own buyers and what they ask for.

Result: Staff can describe each buyer in the shop's own words.

  2. A buyer register mapped to the personas

Existing buyers tagged by type, usual items and credit habits so each belongs to a persona.

Result: You can count the number of each type you have.

  3. Item lists for each persona

The items each buyer type asks for most, used to plan stock and posts.

Result: Stocking decisions refer to who buys the item.

  4. Message scripts by buyer type

Short, plain lines for replying to a carpenter, a contractor and a purchase manager, in the tone each expects.

Result: Staff know how to answer each type.

  5. A credit profile for each type

Notes on usual credit terms and payment habits by buyer type, so limits are set sensibly.

Result: Credit decisions stop depending on memory.

  6. A review of persona fit

A check against sales records to see whether the personas match who actually spends the most.

Result: You can see if the pictures are accurate.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiry match to persona
  • Conversion rate by persona
  • Content aligned to persona

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the buyer persona work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the current view

We start with how your team currently describes the customer, since the gap between belief and reality is often the finding itself.

  2. 2

    Audit past enquiries and sales

We look at recent enquiries and closed deals to see who actually bought, not who was assumed to buy.

  3. 3

    Interview customers and staff

Short, structured conversations surface the real language, worries and triggers behind a purchase.

  4. 4

    Build the personas

Findings are written into short, usable persona documents rather than a long report.

  5. 5

    Apply to your marketing

We show exactly where each persona should change a page, an ad or a script you already have.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How do you find out who our buyers are?
From the register, the credit notebook, the bills and conversations at the counter. We ask the staff who they serve and note what each asks for. No survey of strangers is needed.
Is a persona useful for a shop this size?
Yes, because staff then know how to treat each type. A one-page note on a carpenter or a factory buyer changes how a quote is written and when a call is made.
When should the personas be reviewed?
When the buyer mix changes: a new housing project nearby, a factory opening, a change in what the shop stocks. We read them against the register whenever the shop's trade shifts.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
