Hardware stores · Search engine optimisation

Search for a hex bolt or an angle grinder should end at your shop, not a marketplace.

SEO for a hardware store is the work of making your shop and its stock appear when a buyer searches for a specific tool, fastener or fitting. GullySales works on the product pages, the shop details and the searches that bring tradespeople and purchase managers to you.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What search engine optimisation means

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the work of getting your website to appear when a buyer searches Google for what you sell. GullySales builds pages around real search terms, fixes technical issues that block ranking, and tracks which searches actually bring enquiries.

For hardware stores

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “People search for the item, not the shop”

A buyer types hex bolt, SDS drill bit or mortise lock set, then looks for someone nearby who stocks it. A store site that lists only a shop name and an address answers none of those searches, however long the shop has traded.

  • “Brand and size are how the trade searches”

A plumber knows the brand and the size. A product page that names the make, the thread, the finish and the pack size matches the search, while a page that says fasteners available matches nothing in particular.

  • “Marketplaces own the general term”

A search for cordless drill returns large online sellers first. The shop wins on the narrower, local and specific search: the item plus the area, or the item plus the trade that uses it.

  • “A product list no one updates is worse than none”

A page showing an item the shop stopped stocking sends the buyer to a counter that says no. The list should follow the shelf, and items that run out should be marked, not left standing.

What we do

What we deliver for hardware stores.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A search list built from counter questions

The items buyers ask for, written as they say them, with brand, size and trade, grouped into the searches the shop can win.

Result: You hold a list of searches taken from your own counter.

  2. Product pages for the best-selling items

One page per major item or family, with make, size, finish, use and a way to ask for a rate on WhatsApp.

Result: A buyer can read what the item is before calling.

  3. Pages for each trade you serve

Short pages for carpenters, electricians, plumbers and factory maintenance, each naming the items that trade buys from you.

Result: Each trade has a page that matches how it searches.

  4. Titles and descriptions written for the search

Page titles and short descriptions that carry the item name and the shop's area, rewritten page by page.

Result: Search results show the item and the place.

  5. A stock-aware page routine

A simple way for the shop to mark items as in stock, out of stock or on order, kept by the person who handles reordering.

Result: The website stops promising what the shelf does not hold.

  6. A check on what the site is found for

A review of the searches that bring visitors, set against the baseline recorded before the work began.

Result: You can see which pages are bringing people in.

How the result is measured

  • Ranking positions
  • Organic traffic
  • Enquiries from organic search

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the search engine optimisation work runs

  1. 1

    Audit and baseline

We record where the site stands today: positions, traffic, technical faults and the enquiries search currently produces. Nothing starts until this number is written down.

  2. 2

    Decide what to rank for

We map the searches your buyers use, in your words and theirs, and pick the ones worth the effort for your margin and your capacity.

  3. 3

    Fix the foundations

Technical faults first, because the cheapest gains are usually there. Then the Business Profile and directory consistency.

  4. 4

    Build the pages

A page for each thing you do, written to answer the question it is searched for, with a clear next step at the end.

  5. 5

    Publish and earn mentions

Content goes out on the calendar. Links and mentions are earned from real relationships, not bought.

  6. 6

    Measure, report, adjust

At the interval agreed at the start we report what moved and what did not, and change the plan when the numbers say so.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Can a small hardware shop rank above online sellers?
For the general term, rarely. For a specific item, brand and area, a shop with a clear page and a good Maps listing has a real chance. We aim at the searches your counter already answers. No ranking is promised.
Do we need to list every item?
No. Start with the items that sell and the items buyers ask for by name. A page for each major family is more useful than a long list nobody reads, and the list can grow as the shelf changes.
Does SEO replace the Maps listing?
They work together. The listing serves the nearby buyer looking for a shop, and the website serves the buyer looking for an item. We work on both, because each sends people to the other.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
