Online grocery stores · Buyer persona

Know whether the buyer is a working couple, a retired parent or a pantry manager.

A buyer persona for an online grocery store describes who places the order and who decides the supplier, which in a household or an office are not always the same person. GullySales builds a persona for each group the store serves, drawn from your own order data and calls.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What buyer persona means

A buyer persona is a plain description of the kind of customer who actually buys from you. It includes what they search, what worries them and who else they ask before deciding. GullySales builds this from real enquiries and past sales rather than a generic template, then uses it to write every page and advert.

For online grocery stores

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The person who pays and the person who receives can differ”

An adult child may place a grocery order for parents in another city, and the parents receive it. Delivery instructions, the call before arrival and substitution choices belong to the receiver, while the card and the phone belong to the payer. A persona names both and writes to each.

  • “A working couple wants a slot, not a bargain”

A household where both adults are out through the day looks for a slot that matches a lift, a gate pass or a neighbour. A saved basket and a reliable time count for more than the lowest price. Messages about price miss what this buyer is checking.

  • “A retired household wants a voice on the phone”

A senior household may prefer to order by call or by WhatsApp message, and want the delivery person to bring the bag inside. Choosing produce matters to them, and a refund process that needs an app will go unused.

  • “A pantry manager buys for people who do not choose”

In an office or a PG, one person orders for a whole group and answers for every mistake. Reliability, a fixed window and a bill the accounts team accepts matter more to them than a first-order discount.

What we do

What we deliver for online grocery stores.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Persona cards for each household type

A written card for every group the store serves, covering who orders, who receives, the slot they need and what they check before trusting a new store.

Result: Each campaign can name the persona it is written for.

  2. Payer and receiver note

A short note for households where the person paying differs from the person receiving, with how each is contacted.

Result: Delivery staff know who to call at the door.

  3. Association and pantry persona

A card for the secretary or office manager who picks one supplier for a whole building, with what they need to hear.

Result: Your introduction note speaks to the real decision-maker.

  4. Customer question list

A short list of questions to put to regular customers, on why they chose you, what nearly stopped them and what they still buy elsewhere.

Result: You hold answers from your own buyers and not assumptions.

  5. Persona-to-message map

A table showing which message, channel and offer suits each persona.

Result: Anyone writing an ad or a reminder can see who it is for.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiry match to persona
  • Conversion rate by persona
  • Content aligned to persona

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the buyer persona work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the current view

We start with how your team currently describes the customer, since the gap between belief and reality is often the finding itself.

  2. 2

    Audit past enquiries and sales

We look at recent enquiries and closed deals to see who actually bought, not who was assumed to buy.

  3. 3

    Interview customers and staff

Short, structured conversations surface the real language, worries and triggers behind a purchase.

  4. 4

    Build the personas

Findings are written into short, usable persona documents rather than a long report.

  5. 5

    Apply to your marketing

We show exactly where each persona should change a page, an ad or a script you already have.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

How many personas does a store need?
One for each kind of buyer that brings you a real share of orders, drawn from the order sheet. Start with the two kinds who order more often than the rest and add others when the data shows them.
Where does the information come from?
From your own orders, your delivery staff and your support messages. The person at the door knows who is home, who asks for the bag inside and who changes the order. We do not buy or invent audience data.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
