Press release distribution · Marketing

A pickup report of two hundred sites is not two hundred people reading about you.

Public relations and corporate communications is the wider page about what your company says and to whom. Digital PR covers the paid online placements. This page covers one job: the announcement itself, written and sent.

In one paragraph

Press release distribution writes a company announcement in the format a newsroom accepts and sends it to the desks that cover your trade. GullySales tests whether the news is news, writes and translates the release, sends it to named desks rather than a bulk list, and records what actually ran.

Most releases are never printed, and the reason is almost always the same. The announcement is about the company rather than about anything that happened, so the desk editor reads two lines and moves on.

There is a test for this. Take your company name out of the headline and read it again. If nothing is left that a reader in your town would care about, the release is a blog post and should stay one.

The problem

Does this sound like your business?

What owners tell us on the first call, in their words.

  • We sent it to four hundred addresses and nothing happened

A bought list of general newsroom addresses goes to a shared inbox nobody reads. One release to the reporter who covers your sector beats the whole list, and that reporter has a name.

  • The agency showed us a report of two hundred pickups

Those are syndication sites republishing the same text automatically. It is one release copied, not two hundred editors deciding, and a reader never sees any of it.

  • The release reads like a brochure

Desks throw out anything that opens with how proud the management is. What survives is the fact, the date, the place and the number, in the first paragraph.

  • Nobody could reach us after it ran

A reporter following up calls the number in the release, at odd hours, and gets a switchboard. The named contact has to be a person who answers and is allowed to speak.

What we do

Everything that is included.

Each deliverable, and what it gets you. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. The news test

We go through what your business has done and coming up, and say plainly which items are worth a release and which are not. Most quarters produce one.

  2. The release, written to desk format

Headline, dateline, the fact in the first paragraph, the detail below it, a quote that says something, and a boilerplate paragraph about the company that stays the same every time.

  3. Quote and approval

The spokesperson's quote is drafted and signed off before sending, and we agree who inside your company may speak to a reporter who calls back.

  4. Regional language versions

A Kannada or Marathi desk wants the release in its own language, written rather than run through a translator. English sent to a regional daily is usually rewritten badly or dropped.

  5. A list split in two

Named desks and reporters who cover your sector on one side, wire and syndication services on the other. You see which is which before anything is sent.

  6. Photograph and asset pack

A print-resolution photograph with a caption, a logo file and a factsheet. Print desks drop stories they cannot illustrate, and a phone snap of a ribbon does not print.

  7. A tracked landing page

One page on your website used only in the release, with its own contact number. Visits and calls to it are the only honest measure of what the announcement did.

  8. Coverage record

What ran, where, on what date, and whether it was editorial or paid, kept in one file so the next release goes to the desks that used the last one.

How the result is measured

  • Named desks that carried the release, listed by outlet
  • Editorial coverage against paid placement
  • Visits to the release landing page
  • Calls and enquiries to the release contact
  • Days from the event to the release going out

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, then reported every month against it.

Who it is for

This is written for you if these sound familiar.

  • Manufacturers opening a plant, adding a line or landing an export order worth reporting
  • Hospitals and clinics announcing a new department, equipment or a senior appointment
  • Builders and developers launching a project, where the trade press covers launches anyway
  • Companies raising money, signing a distribution tie-up or being certified for something buyers ask about
  • Trusts and non-profit organisations whose programme results are genuinely local news

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • A business with nothing this quarter that a desk would call news, where a release only burns the contact you will need later
  • Owners who will judge the work by an appearance in one particular national daily, because no editor's decision is for sale
  • Anyone expecting enquiries next week, since a release works on credibility over months and cannot be traced like an advertisement

How it works

From your first message to the first monthly report.

No open-ended retainer. Each step has a point in time and something you receive.

  1. 01 · Day 1

    Free audit call

45 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. 02 · Within a few working days

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope and fee come with it, in writing.

  3. 03 · Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later month has an honest comparison.

  4. 04 · Month 1

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. 05 · Every month

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words.

  6. 06 · Month 3 to 6

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. No twelve-month lock.

How the press release distribution work runs

  1. 1

    Find the news

We sit with what is happening in the business over the next quarter and pick the one or two things a desk would run. Timing matters as much as substance.

  2. 2

    Write and get it approved

A draft goes to you with the quote marked for sign-off. Legal or promoter approval happens here, not after a reporter has already called.

  3. 3

    Build the list

Sector desks, local editions, trade publications and, where it is worth it, a syndication service. We tell you what each one is likely to do.

  4. 4

    Send and follow up

Sent at a time a desk is working, with a short personal note to the reporters who matter, and one follow-up. After that we stop, because a third call costs you the contact.

  5. 5

    Record and report

Coverage is collected and the landing page numbers go into the monthly report, alongside anything traceable to the release contact.

Proof

What happened when owners fixed this.

Real clients, the work we did, and the result as it was recorded. Where no number was recorded, none is claimed.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every monthly report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No lock-in, no guarantees we cannot keep

Three to six months at a time. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

Engagement options

Ways to work with us.

Pick the size of commitment that fits. Every option starts with the free audit.

  1. Option 1

    The audit on its own

A 45-minute call and a written, scored report. It says honestly whether you need outside help, and many fixes are ones your own team can make.

  2. Option 2

    One fix, scoped

Start with the fix the audit ranks first, such as reply time or follow-up. The fee is in writing before anything starts.

  3. Option 3

    A three-to-six-month programme

We run the work month by month, report against the baseline every month, and you renew on the numbers. No twelve-month lock.

  4. Option 4

Guidance for your own team or agency

We plan, brief and check the work of your in-house team or current agency, instead of replacing them.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Can you guarantee our release will be published?
No, and nobody can. An editor decides what runs, and that decision is not sold. What we can do is make the release publishable, send it to the person who covers your sector, and be honest about the ones that have no chance.
What counts as news for a small company?
Something that happened on a date and affects somebody outside your office. A new plant, an export order, an appointment, a price change, a tie-up, a result from a programme you run. A redesigned website is not news, though it is worth a post on your own site.
Does a press release help our search rankings?
Barely. Syndicated copies are duplicates of one text, and links inside distributed releases are usually marked as paid or sponsored, so they pass little weight. Buy distribution for the reader and the credibility, not for the link.
Should we pay for a distribution service or send it ourselves?
Both, for different reasons. A direct email to a named reporter is what produces real coverage. A wire service puts the text on the record, where a buyer searching your company name finds it. Paying only for the wire is the common mistake.
How will we know it worked?
By the coverage list, the traffic to the release page and any calls to its number. An announcement in a trade daily does not ring your phone the same day, and if someone tells you it will, they are selling.
How is this charged?
There is no published price. A single release with a regional version is a small piece of work; a year of announcements around a launch is not. The fee is agreed in writing after the free audit, and any wire service cost is yours and shown separately.
How long is the contract?
Three to six months at a time. There is no twelve-month lock, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile usually show in weeks, because the enquiries already exist. Ads show in days once follow-up is ready. SEO and content take months. The audit tells you which applies to you.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 45 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the monthly review.
