CPA and accounting firms · Branding

A firm named after three retired partners tells a buyer nothing.

Branding for a CPA firm is the positioning behind the name: who you are for, and how that reads on a proposal and a report. GullySales settles the positioning with the partners and carries it into the proposals, reports and bios that clients and referral sources actually see.

A sign-painter's bench: a shop sign on a low easel lettered as far as its last character, which is still only pencilled in, a mahl stick laid across the work, open tins of paint on the floor and a finished sign hanging from its iron bracket above

What branding means

Branding is what a customer remembers about your business beyond the product, including your name, colours, tone of voice and what you are known for locally. GullySales sets or corrects this once and applies it consistently across your website, signage and adverts so the business looks like one company everywhere.

For CPA and accounting firms

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • Positioning is a pricing decision

A firm known for construction contractors can charge for knowing the trade. A general firm is compared on hourly rates.

  • The proposal is the brand

A prospect judges you on a document they receive in the week they are choosing, not on the logo at the top of it.

  • Succession changes what the name has to carry

A firm being sold or handed over needs a name that survives the partner whose clients came with them.

What we do

What we deliver for CPA and accounting firms.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A positioning statement the partners agree on

Who the firm is for, what it does not take, and the one sentence used on the site, in proposals and at an association meeting.

Result: Everybody describes the firm the same way.

  2. A proposal and report template in one voice

The engagement letter, the fixed fee proposal and the client-facing reports laid out consistently, with plain wording and your fee structure shown clearly.

Result: The documents look like they came from one firm.

  3. A decision on the name and how it is used

Whether to keep, shorten or change the firm name, with the professional conduct conditions on using the CPA title checked with your board first.

Result: The name question stops being reopened every partner meeting.

  4. Partner bios written for referral sources

Short profiles naming industries, credentials and the associations each partner sits in, so an attorney can forward one without adding a cover note.

Result: Referrers have something to send.

  5. A niche-facing identity for conferences and talks

The slide template, the one-page handout and the booth material used at your niche's association events, matching the site.

Result: The room sees the same firm they will later find online.

How the result is measured

  • Recognition in customer feedback
  • Consistency across channels
  • Repeat enquiries by name

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, then reported every month against it.

Who it is for

This is written for these CPA and accounting firms.

  • Sole practitioners and two-partner firms
  • Multi-partner regional firms
  • Tax-only practices
  • Client accounting and advisory service teams
  • Audit and assurance practices doing non-profit and benefit plan work
  • Niche firms serving a single industry
  • Bookkeeping firms adding tax work
  • Firms preparing for succession or a sale
  • New firms in their first two years

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
  • You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
  • You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.

How it works

From your first message to the first monthly report.

No open-ended retainer. Each step has a point in time and something you receive.

  1. 01 · Day 1

    Free audit call

45 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. 02 · Within a few working days

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope and fee come with it, in writing.

  3. 03 · Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later month has an honest comparison.

  4. 04 · Month 1

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. 05 · Every month

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words.

  6. 06 · Month 3 to 6

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. No twelve-month lock.

How the work runs for CPA and accounting firms

  1. 1

    Assess

In the free audit we look at where clients came from, revenue per client, proposals sent against proposals accepted, and what happens between May and August.

  2. 2

Decide what you want more of

One or two niches and a service mix chosen against capacity and price, with a written note of the work the firm will stop taking.

  3. 3

    Rebuild the front door

Niche pages, the profile, the partner bios and the proof, written so a prospect can recognise their own business on the page.

  4. 4

    Fix the proposal

A qualifying call, a scope template and a fixed-fee proposal that goes out in two days, with a follow-up on every one that goes quiet.

  5. 5

    Market when you can answer

The campaign runs May to August, year-end planning goes out in November, and January to April is triage rather than promotion.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every monthly report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No lock-in, no guarantees we cannot keep

Three to six months at a time. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • Hours that fit your day, agreed up front

Which hours we overlap with yours is settled before any work starts, so you know when a reply is coming and when it is not.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Should we drop the retired partners' names?
Often, but not quickly. Keep the legal name where it must appear and run a shorter trading name first, checking what your board allows before anything is printed.
Will a niche name cost us our general clients?
Some of them, and that is usually the point. Most firms run the general tax side unchanged for a year while the niche work builds.
Are we allowed to advertise this way?
Yes, within limits. The AICPA Code of Professional Conduct rules out false, misleading or deceptive promotion, and your state board adds its own conditions, including how the CPA title may be used. Commission and contingent fee restrictions also shape what may be promoted and to whom. Your state board has the last word and we write to it.
Do you do bookkeeping or tax preparation too?
No, and it is worth saying plainly, because that is what most firms cold-calling your practice are selling. We are a sales and marketing firm. We never touch a client return, a trial balance or client tax data, and we ask for no access to your tax software.
How long is the contract?
Three to six months at a time. There is no twelve-month lock, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile usually show in weeks, because the enquiries already exist. Ads show in days once follow-up is ready. SEO and content take months. The audit tells you which applies to you.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 45 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the monthly review.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Every month is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. Terms run three to six months at a time, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
